Chapter 240: Discussion With Llumino (I)

"Stabbed in the throat, yet they couldn’t find him or any blood after? That does sound like a hallucination."

White said with a careless shrug while Llumino continued staring at him suspiciously before eventually letting it go.

The news itself didn’t make much sense, and since no visible harm had been done, there was no need to hold White up for it.

"So, the arena?"

He continued, also taking a seat.

"The air at the bar got a little heavy, and I needed a little break from all the eyes and found this place..."

White replied.

He had truly been wandering around after leaving the bar when he had chanced upon the arena and stopped to watch.

"Something tells me you have a thing or two with chaos."

Llumino replied as the corner of White’s lips tilted slightly.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. There were about four or six more bars on the way here, yet something told me you’d be here, and I did find you here."

"Too much of a coincidence, no?"

He asked, and White couldn’t argue with that.

"Thank you...for back then with Galaxy Altherion."

White said to him.

It was obvious he had wanted out of that jet, but Galaxy Altherion wouldn’t allow him.

Llumino had helped in that moment, and he hadn’t thanked him yet for it.

"It’s fine. Though I’m curious what you plan on doing once you get out."

He said before turning down to where the eight fighters had been reduced to just three still standing.

A gleam crossed his eyes as he asked,

"You wanna duel someone?"

The question made White pause before he nodded once.

"Not a bad idea."

"But, why though? It’s a brutal game down there. You can get your face smashed in, and all you’ll get is some cheering from the audience... if you win."

There was a moment of silence before White replied.

"I don’t mean this to sound arrogant or something, but..."

He paused again, making a conscious choice of his next words before continuing.

"Up until now, I’ve lived with the feeling of danger."

"Finding myself in far from convenient scenarios where, oftentimes, I’d have to fight my way out, drenched in blood, just to get any chance of survival."

"But... ever since I got in this body, and Humanity Ascension happened, those situations just like..."

"Disappeared, and life got boring too."

Llumino completed for him, and White turned to him.

"I know how you feel, White. Everyone in the Galaxy Stage understands, including Galaxy Altherion."

He said.

"All our lives, we’ve spent cultivating, and suddenly, we don’t do that anymore since we’ve reached the peak of what is theoretically known."

"Ordinary Supernatural Creatures are far too weak to interest us, and the Alphanomalous Creatures that might offer real excitement are forbidden targets."

"It’s one of the top reasons EGES exists. You can only keep the hands of Galaxy-ranked experts stable for so long, so they send us out into space, hoping it can get rid of our itch."

"But does it do so?"

White asked.

"I mean, you saw the Siltrates, right?"

He asked, but White shook his head.

"They’re nothing."

"Hahahaha!"

The straightforward reply led Llumino to laugh out loud.

"Really?"

He asked. White’s expression remained point-blank as he replied,

"Yes, really. They might be good enough for a warm-up, but they’ll never give the feeling of danger, even if they number in thousands, which they’re not even close to."

"Yes. You’re right."

"But Siltrates are normal Galaxial threats. There are more insane creatures, zones that we Galaxial Explorers are banned from entering due to the danger level of the creatures that dwell within, but..."

Llumino suddenly said,

"The itch only lasts for so long, White."

He said.

"One day, you’ll stand before one of those creatures, and even after defeating it, you’ll realize the victory meant nothing."

"Throwing your life on the line just to reclaim a feeling you lost long ago. Eventually, maturity catches up to everyone, and they search for something else to fill the emptiness."

He explained, but it was something White couldn’t understand.

In his past life, he had died fighting, and he was only here with this power because of how close he had always been to deathly scenarios.

To say he would ever get bored with all this was like saying he would get bored with life itself.

And right now, he was indeed getting bored with but only life due to the absence of the familiar chaos.

If he would ever mature out of this... that was something he didn’t know and couldn’t relate to, leaving him to hum in the end.

"If you do wanna duel someone, though, I can get you a recommendation. Might take a bit of time, though, like three days to have you accepted."

He said, but White waved it off.

"Don’t stress it. Can I ask you something instead?"

At this point, the battle royale had come to a stop, and a new class of fighters was stepping into the ring.

"Ask away."

"You have a reputation for being the fastest Human."

He said, as a grin spread across Llumino’s face.

"You doubt it?"

White shook his head.

"No, not really. That was indeed an insane speed, and I’m sure it wasn’t your fastest."

"I just wanted to know if there’s like a list of reputations for things like that."

Llumino paused, slightly confused, and White chose to explain further.

"Like if you’re the best at speed, then is there someone with a reputation for being the strongest, or someone with the most impenetrable defense, or someone with the best weapon skills, or someone with the best intelligence?"

"AHH, AHH, I get it now."

Llumino said with a nod of his head.

"And actually, yes, there is. But being strong is a very wide concept. I might be rumored to be the fastest human alive, and you can say since I’m fast and nobody can catch me, then I must be the strongest, but... even I know that’s bullshit."

"For real?"
