Chapter 125: Scum
Hide pulled out his fingers with the eye, then placing it in his hand he squashed it.
Hot, dark red blood erupted instantly, spraying across Hide’s scaled forearm as the branch Commander let out an ear-piercing, blood-curdling shriek.
Bypassing the frantic flailing, Hide grabbed the screaming man firmly by his damp hair, violently pulling his face up until they were inches apart.
"Let’s make sure that one thing is clear," Hide stated, his voice dropping into a lethal, deadpan whisper. "You are the one who is wrong here, not me. You exploited and even killed innocent people to reach where you are right now. Am I right?"
"YES... Yes, you are absolutely right. I did that. I am sorry... I killed groups of Exterminators by taking them into gates to increase my rank."
Hide’s eyes narrowed and his face turned in disgust. He had no idea this fucker had did such things. What an absolute scum.
Hide jerked his head once more. "Are you going to try and contact Kai’s father again? Or are you going to try and threaten his board to extract his money? Huh?"
"NO! NO! I WON’T!" the Vice Leader wept hysterically, tears of unmitigated pain and terror mixing with the crimson streaming down his cheek as he clutched desperately at Hide’s scaled wrist. "I swear it! Raymond is free to go! His company can do whatever it pleases! We will dissolve the shares... we will never bother him or his family again! Just please... please leave me alive!"
"Good," Hide murmured flatly.
With a careless flick of his wrist, Hide slammed the Vice Leader’s face violently down into the shattered marble floor. Then he lifted him up by his hair and slammed him down again. CRUNCH. CRUNCH. He repeated the motion until the man’s screams died down into wet, flat wheezes, his neck going limp as he passed out entirely into an unconscious heap of broken tissue.
Hide stood up straight, his dark carapace scales smoothly retracting back beneath his skin without leaving a single trace behind. He flicked his fingers, letting the residual crimson blood splatter onto the masonry, and looked down at Zenith.
"Go back," Hide thought.
The towering executioner phantom instantly broke into a thick cloud of dense violet smoke, shooting cleanly back into Hide’s own body to be stored deep within his core.
Shifting his posture back into a lazy, casual layout, Hide simply walked across the bloody masonry toward the main entry doors. He stopped a foot away from Kai’s father, his blue eyes calm and ancient.
"Are you satisfied and certain of my claim now, Director Raymond?" Hide asked dryly, a faint, razor-sharp smirk touching his lips.
Director Raymond looked at him with hesitation and dread at first. Who would not be afraid of a boy who almost killed an A Rank Executioner just like that?
His jaw trembled, but soon a profound wave of relief and awe crashed over his chest so heavily that he almost broke into tears right then and there.
Yet, using his immense intellectual discipline, he forced the moisture back down, his stress-lined face expanding into a genuine, highly grateful smile as he nodded firmly.
"I am, Mr. Volter." Raymond breathed, his voice rough with respect. "My logistical network and hardware distribution rights are entirely at your disposal."
"Huh... sorry but I don’t need that." Hide smiled back. "And you can call me just Hide."
Beside him, Kai finally let out a long, exhausted breath, his tense shoulders relaxing completely as he grinned around his unscarred face.
Hide turned around and saw that the plaza had turned silent and serious. people were murmuring within themselves... the exterminator team and the captain now free, were absolutely lost at what they had just learned about their superior.
Many of them even saw the Vice leader as their role model and held him in high regards. Who would have thought that he was something so rotten to the core?
He exploited people that was one thing... but he killed other exterminators. That was something horrible.
It was not some sacred knowledge that if you kill other being, you get their life mana... and by collecting life mana you advance through ranks.
Many people kill a lot of low rank beasts, grinding and accumulating life mana to advance. But he... he used the easier way, as killing other exterminator gives a lot more than killing low tier beasts.
The media had already called upon the nearby Police station, who had called upon the exterminators from other agencies to help and capture the person.
The police also took Hide away, who was the direct person involved in the whole thing and the assaulter as well.
Well, most of the charges against him were lifted already as he had revealed the scandal of a large agency, that was not a small thing. By tomorrow this news would reach the whole world, and Green Horn Agency was now in a great threat of being closed.
The second reason was that Hide was someone affiliated with the NEA, so the Police were not allowed, and didn’t have enough power to exercise anything against him.
By evening, he was allowed to go with an apology. And as soon as he stepped out... he was covered by media who asked him a myriad of question about whom he had no idea.
He scratched the back of his head in utter confusion and finally decided to answer a few relatively easier questions.
But before Hide could reply, a sharp, violent vibration rumbled from deep within his jacket pocket.
Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
Hide pulled his hand out and retrieved the sleek communicator. The screen illuminated his face with a harsh, pale glow.
His eyebrows immediately knit together in deep confusion as he scanned the interface.
The logging directory showed 2 and 6 missed calls from Evelyn and Maddox simultaneously, a mountain of messages from Elara and Kai.
And currently the call was from Claire!
Hide sighed... he needed to get away from this crowd first.
"Hey everyone!" Hide called and all the persons present there became silent. Hide flashed a smile and said. "Do you wanna see a magic?"
"Huh?"
That invited a lot of confused gazes from the crowd... but as they blinked once, they were left in utter disbelief.
Hide was gone!
