Chapter 73: No Rest. The Monster Arrives

Before anyone could ask questions, Silas continued quickly.

"We’re going to be attacked soon."

Mr. Fatars and Mr. Sylvester immediately approached him, while Mrs. Loraine and Miss Gertrude rushed towards the rescued students. Murmurs spread out in the camp, as everyone wondered just how Silas was still alive, and that much with Chloe. Plus, he had brought back a member of one of the native races in the rift as a tamed creature. Was this the power of S-Ranks? It must be, because it was too strange and... awesome. Even his tamed creature was beautiful, although green. No racism intended...

"What do you mean?" Mr. Fatars asked in a serious tone. Silas stared at the man, searching for any falsehood in his actions. He still remembered all that he’d been through because of this P.E. teacher. It hadn’t been so long since he awakened. It had been just two weeks at most. No matter how concerned he looked at the moment, Silas wasn’t willing to trust him, or anyone. He only trusted himself, Chloe, Gromda, and his echoes.

"I sensed a monster fast approaching the camp on our way here. It was most likely an A-Rank beast from the aura I felt from it," Silas answered calmly. No matter how he felt about the man in front of him, or any of the teachers for that matter, this wasn’t the time for payback. There were more opportunities in the future. For now, he wanted to go back to his apartment, and maybe later go check out his accounts, his estates, and other necessary stuff. And most especially... He missed Anna.

"How sure are you, or are you just estimating?" Mr. Sylvester asked in a tone that expressed disbelief.

"Believe it or not, that is what I sensed. I can protect myself. My girlfriend, Chloe, can protect herself, too. After all, she is also an S-Rank like me. Gromda doesn’t need protection either. We survived a week all alone, in separate dimensions, and fought packs upon packs of monsters that could wipe out towns. If you think I’m telling you this for some measly protection, then you are mistaken. I’m perfectly good on my own. Circumstances made me look for this camp. I want answers, and I want to go home," Silas answered him coldly, dousing him in the reality of the... reality. At the mention of Chloe, they both turned to stare at the girl who was deep in conversation with the orc lady.

Mrs. Loraine and Miss Gertrude joined right before Silas finished. Gertrude took an evaluation device, shaped like a walkie-talkie, approached Chloe, and activated it. After a few seconds, she returned with a pale and shocked face.

"We might need the Evaluation Board, but Chloe’s energy shows ’Unidentified’, meaning she is above A-Rank, which is S-Rank. The orc is... A-Rank, but her energy signature is very close to Chloe’s level."

Gertrude’s reveal caused all of them to turn towards Silas. They realized that he truly didn’t need their help. If he were an A-Rank, that wouldn’t be so true. If Chloe were to be an A-Rank, the same would apply. But here was the case that he was an S-Rank, known for their unorthodox way of power. He had partners who were at the S-Rank and A-Rank. She was literally his girlfriend, which meant that she would choose him over the camp. And lastly, he had an experienced native of the world they were in as his tamed monster, or so they thought.

If there was someone who needed help, Silas was the last person. They were the ones who needed that help, and he was willing to help.

"If the monster is an A-Rank, then it is the boss monster of this rift. Defeating it would allow us to return," Fatars said, making everyone look at him in surprise.

"Are you sure?" Silas asked because he found it unbelievable.

"I’ve been in more rifts than you can count. Yellow Rifts have a fixed time period to enter. When that time is up, you will be teleported out automatically. The same is for green. Blue rifts and above have requirements, and that is to defeat the leader of that rift, or in-game terms, the boss. Violet rifts and above are different, though. No one knows their requirements, because no one has ever entered and come out to tell the tale. Well, they came out, but as corpses. The rift spat them out."

A chill spread out when he finished his statement. Violet rifts were a myth and a scary kind of myth.

"This is no time to think about something that isn’t here. We will have to prepare for the upcoming battle. How long do we have, Silas?" Fatars turned to Silas.

"No need to prepare. It is already here," Silas answered, his eyes glowing. Before anyone could react to that news, they heard a roar that shook the very foundation of the hill they were camping on. Screams rang out as one tent collapsed inward and the earth cracked. Chloe reacted instantly, freezing the land so that no one fell into the huge pit that had opened up.

"What the hell is tha-" Sylvester exclaimed in shock and fear, only to turn silent as a huge shadow fell over the camp. Huge drops of saliva fell on the ground, while a huge, thorn-like club landed on the ground with a loud thud, causing a mini earthquake. In front of them was a twenty-foot-tall humanoid monster with dirty, green skin, four red eyes that seemed to dim out the sun, which was already setting, and two long, black, curved horns.

It had long, white hair that was tied in two long braids, huge tusks coming out of its mouth, and an extremely muscular body. What was strange about it was that, just like Gromda, it looked more human than monster, the only difference being that...

"This fucker is salivating!" Silas exclaimed in disbelief, causing everyone to look at him like ’Seriously dude? That was all that you could see?’
