Chapter 186: A Summoners Style [1/3]
Zich stared at Nameless, who had regained his footing dozens of meters away, yet not the slightest trace of joy appeared on his face because of that successful counterattack. Only after truly exchanging blows did he finally realize that his Blood Arc, an attack powerful enough to easily defeat the vast majority of people his own age, had barely managed to injure his opponent at all.
The sensation was as though he had merely pushed aside an endless mass of darkness rather than struck a real enemy, making him realize just how terrifying the mysterious Nullborn truly was.
"As expected..." Zich murmured quietly to himself. "Me alone... isn’t enough."
He had never been a profession that fought alone, because a Summoner’s greatest strength had never been himself, but rather the overwhelming advantage of numbers.
Just as everyone believed the two of them were about to clash head on once again, Zich slowly raised his right hand as several gray white summoning circles lit up almost simultaneously within his palm, while a dense aura of death rapidly spread throughout the battlefield.
Buzz!
The next moment, five gray white summoning circles appeared around his body simultaneously, and accompanied by the crisp sounds of bones colliding and grinding against one another, five Skeleton Warriors with pale white bodies and ghostly blue soul flames burning within their eye sockets slowly emerged from the summoning circles, while the bone blades and bone shields in their hands reflected chilling rays of light beneath the sun.
Although the aura emanating from them was nowhere near that of true powerhouses, their perfectly synchronized movements still caused many spectators’ eyes to light up.
"Another Summon!"
"He’s finally getting serious!"
However, that was not the end.
Zich slowly raised his other hand once more as blood red summoning patterns rapidly spread outward, and immediately afterward another humanoid creature slowly crawled out without making the slightest sound, yet many people instinctively felt their scalps tingle the moment they laid eyes upon it.
It was the Blood Leech.
At the same time, Slimey, who had been resting on Zich’s shoulder all this time, lightly hopped onto the ground as its round body rapidly expanded slightly, while its large, harmless looking eyes now locked firmly onto the distant Nameless.
In the blink of an eye, the most basic battle formation had been completed.
"Now he finally looks like a Summoner."
Many spectators could not help but remark.
"He barely used his summons during the previous matches."
"It seems... the Nullborn has finally forced him to reveal his true fighting style."
On the commentator’s platform, Mithrash wore an excited smile as he loudly declared, "Ladies and gentlemen, look closely! Only now is Zich finally displaying the true combat style of a Summoner! Faced with an opponent whose speed vastly surpasses his own, he hasn’t chosen to continue fighting alone, but instead is using his summons to expand his range of combat and restrict his opponent’s movements through sheer numbers, and without a doubt this is both the most logical and the smartest choice!"
Dragon Count nodded lightly before saying, "Indeed. If there is only a single target, Nameless can easily find the perfect angle to attack, but once multiple targets appear on the battlefield, his movement path will inevitably be affected, and at the very least, Zich will no longer be forced to rely solely on split second judgment to evade attacks like before."
Meanwhile, at the center of the arena, Nameless quietly watched the growing number of summons surrounding Zich without making the slightest movement, as though no matter how many creatures his opponent summoned, it made absolutely no difference in his eyes.
Likewise, Zich did not recklessly charge forward, but instead slowly crouched down before gently patting Slimey’s soft body.
"Get ready."
Boop!
Slimey immediately bounced once, letting out a spirited little chirp.
Elsewhere, the five Skeleton Warriors simultaneously raised their bone shields before quickly forming a defensive formation that, while not particularly wide, was exceptionally tight, firmly protecting Zich at its center.
That scene caused many contestants to watch with curious eyes, wanting to see how this fight would unfold.
Brakka grinned. "Using summons to create attacking opportunities. So this is his true fighting style."
Even Lucien, who had maintained his smile from beginning to end, showed a thoughtful look in his eyes.
However, just as everyone’s attention remained focused on the summons, Nameless finally moved once again.
Buzz!
The black figure disappeared once more.
His speed remained suffocatingly fast.
But this time, he was no longer facing only Zich.
Almost the instant the black shadow appeared, the five Skeleton Warriors simultaneously swung their bone blades, sealing off his path from five different directions, while Slimey’s body suddenly swelled before a stream of dark green venom shot toward the black shadow like a razor sharp arrow.
Although Nameless effortlessly dodged the venom with nothing more than a slight tilt of his body, that brief instant of hesitation caused Zich’s eyes to suddenly brighten.
"Got you!"
Shadow Blink activated once more!
Whoosh!
Zich’s body transformed into a black afterimage as he instantly appeared at Nameless’s right side, while a crimson crescent once again tore through the air as it slashed viciously toward his opponent, and at the same time the five Skeleton Warriors launched their attacks almost simultaneously, while Slimey continuously spat venom to seal off every avenue of retreat, causing the entire arena to truly become a battlefield belonging to a Summoner for the very first time.
And faced with the assault closing in from every direction, Nameless, who had maintained absolute composure throughout the battle, finally, for the very first time, slowly raised his other hand.
