Chapter 941: Chapter 921 Startling Change

"Hmm?"

"I won’t say any more; I’ll tell you when I’m back."

"Alright, then let’s talk when you’re back." His tone carried a faint indulgence.

...

After hanging up, she removed her headset, took a deep breath of the crisp dusk air, pressed on the accelerator, and sped up.

Meanwhile, about a dozen meters behind the mini, a silver-gray minivan was closely tailing her.

In the driver’s seat, a pair of sharp, calculating eyes were hidden behind pitch-black sunglasses, fixed on the mini’s trunk. Suddenly, the accelerator was floored.

The once steadily moving van roared forward like a bloodthirsty beast, charging straight into the rear of the mini!

At dusk, Disheng’s golden sunlight spread across the red-roofed, white-walled villa, casting a solemn yet pristine beauty over it.

George walked into the main hall. "Boss, the plane is all arranged. We’re just waiting for Miss Jiayi to return."

Even Zaizai had been picked up early from kindergarten.

Though he didn’t exactly understand why Daddy and Mommy were having another wedding, he didn’t find it surprising.

Daddy loved Mommy so much—so what if they held another wedding? Ten more wouldn’t be an issue!

Besides, Grandpa and Cousin Dou Shabao would both be there for the wedding.

And Mommy’s old friends, including his idol, Xue Jingchuan...

He was already looking forward to Daddy and Mommy’s second wedding.

"The young master will follow Mr. and Mrs. Chu to the wedding the following day. Don’t worry, young master, have fun with Miss Jiayi," Auntie Li said with a soft laugh, leaning in close.

Huo Zhenyang sat on the crimson sofa, his long, slender fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest’s intricate carvings.

Suddenly, without reason, his rhythm faltered, and his hand stilled.

At that moment, the phone rang loudly.

Auntie Li rushed over to pick it up. "Hello..."

Before a few seconds had passed, her smile froze on her face, and the phone receiver clattered to the floor. In a trembling voice, she stammered:

"What do you mean... say that again..."

George had never seen Auntie Li so panicked. He stepped forward, only to see the Boss stand abruptly from the sofa. His chiseled face, stark against the sinking sunset outside the window, sank into a deep, grim shadow.

In the evening, Liang Anya went downstairs to move around, as usual.

With her due date approaching, Si Yuheng had allowed her half an hour of post-dinner walks every evening, per the doctor’s recommendation.

But tonight, during her walk downstairs, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

The Beiming Hall subordinates were whispering among themselves, their voices deliberately hushed. As soon as they saw her, they clammed up and turned their backs.

When she was done walking and about to head back up, a conversation at the first-floor stairway corner caught her attention—Kasey and another Beiming Hall subordinate were talking.

"Really? Did something really happen to Miss Chu?" Kasey’s voice was animated, full of fake surprise.

"Would I lie about this? It happened on her way back..."

Liang Anya froze, cradling her stomach as she rushed over. "What do you mean by that?"

When Kasey saw that she had overheard, a flash of calculated smugness gleamed in her eyes, though she feigned shock on her face:

"What are you doing out here?"

She shot a sharp glance at the other subordinate, signaling him to stay silent.

Of course, this only made Liang Anya more anxious. "What do you mean by what you just said? What happened to Xiaoyi? What happened to her on the way back?"

"Miss Liang, you should go upstairs and rest. If anything happens to the baby, we’ll be punished by the Hall Master," Kasey said, her goal already achieved, swaying her hips as she ascended the stairs.

Liang Anya ignored Kasey and grabbed hold of the subordinate who was trying to slip away. "Speak!"

"Miss Liang, the Hall Master gave orders not to tell you..." the subordinate said helplessly.

Oh, really!

No wonder everyone had been acting so secretive today—so something truly was up!

Her mind raced. Clutching her belly, she said, "If you won’t speak, I’ll say you hit me in the stomach!"

The subordinate’s expression turned to panic. He couldn’t afford to be falsely accused—if the Hall Master heard such a thing from Miss Liang, he wouldn’t make it out alive. Resigned, he confessed: "Miss Chu was in a car accident on her way back to Disheng this evening."

Liang Anya’s pupils dilated as cold sweat broke out on her back. "How is Xiaoyi?"

"I’m not sure. She’s been taken to the hospital already. It sounded serious..."

Before the words were even out, Liang Anya’s face turned pale. Holding her stomach, she hurried upstairs.

...

She panted heavily as she pushed open the bedroom door.

Si Yuheng was seated on the sofa watching a sports event. His expression darkened when he saw her frantic appearance. Before he could say anything, she was already in front of him.

"Si Yuheng, I need to go to the hospital!"

Si Yuheng’s eyes sharpened upon realizing she had found out. These damn subordinates couldn’t keep their mouths shut.

"What hospital? Get on the bed and sleep," he said coldly, his emerald gaze flickering as he turned off the TV and stood up.

"Sleep? You want me to sleep at a time like this?" Liang Anya gripped his sleeve tightly, her voice lowering. Looking up at him with trembling words, she pleaded: "Let me go to the hospital to see Xiaoyi, please."

Si Yuheng grabbed her wrist and pulled her harshly in front of him. "Don’t push your luck. Don’t forget—what did we agree to? Until you safely give birth to my heir, you’re not allowed to take a single step outside this villa except for prenatal checkups and delivery. Did you forget?"

"But Xiaoyi was in a car accident!" Liang Anya’s eyes, red with urgency, were brimming with tears.

"And so what? What does her accident have to do with me?" Si Yuheng’s displeasure was palpable as he pointed toward the bed. "What you should do is rest and sleep. Don’t make me repeat myself."

His voice was devoid of warmth, as cold as an icy blade, slicing deep into the marrow of her bones.

She knew he was heartless, and yet she still begged him!

But even so, she had no choice but to keep imploring...

"Si Yuheng, I’m begging you... Just one look. I’ll just take one look and come right back. Please let me..." Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

"I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll warn you one more time—"

"Si Yuheng, you beast!" For months, she hadn’t fought back, knowing resistance was futile, and in the end, she’d always lose. But today, she couldn’t hold back anymore.

In that instant, time seemed to freeze.

His breathtakingly handsome eyes, now cold, narrowed as he grasped her chin tightly. "You’re really getting bold!"

"Bold? Of course, I know. If things don’t go your way, you can blow up your fiancée without a second thought—kill a subordinate if you feel like it. How could I not know your might? Fine! Let me go see Xiaoyi first. Let me know how she’s doing, then kill me! I’ve had enough!"

Liang Anya, overcome by months of suppressed grievances, met his deep sapphire gaze head-on, her eyes streaming with tears that slid down her swollen lids.

Si Yuheng felt his fingertips dampen. The chill of her tears swept through him, brushing against the core of his heart. To steady the turmoil in his chest, he smirked coldly: "Want to die? Fine. Give me the child first, then you can die."
