Chapter 922: Chapter 902: Psychiatric Medications

Little Doubao put down the Rubik’s cube and carefully studied the letters on those bottles.

The employees finished chatting with the secretary and left carrying the tray.

The secretary noticed the little guy had completed the Rubik’s cube puzzle and smiled warmly, "So impressive, you’re really smart! You finished it so quickly. Little Doubao, do you want to play with other toys? Dr. An and Miss Chu are still having their conversation, so you might need to wait a little longer, okay?"

Little Doubao raised his hand, pointing at the employees’ retreating figures, and uttered a few words, "That...what is it?"

The secretary was momentarily stunned and saw he was pointing at the tray the employees were carrying. She explained with a smile, "Those are the medications for Dr. An’s patients. Every day, the studio staff organizes these medicines by category and distributes them to the patients who come for consultations."

"Medicine?" Little Doubao opened his big, wide eyes.

The secretary patiently replied, "That’s right, medicine. This is a psychological clinic, so all the medications are for mental health—things like antidepressants, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, and so on. Different patients take different medicines to get better."

Little Doubao didn’t ask further questions and lowered his head to continue playing with the Rubik’s cube.

The secretary, seeing his attention shift back to the toy, went back to her work.

A while later, Little Doubao saw the employee come out of the medication distribution room.

He glanced at the secretary again, noticing she was fully engrossed in her tasks. His long eyelashes fluttered, and a flicker of innocent, pure, yet inexplicably deep light appeared in his dark eyes.

...

In the evening, Jiayi drove and returned to Disheng with Little Doubao.

"Little Doubao, we’re home. Unbuckle your seatbelt yourself. Hungry? Zaizai should be back from school by now, too. Let’s go inside and eat, okay?"

Jiayi, sitting in the driver’s seat, removed her seatbelt and spoke to the little boy in the back of the car.

Little Doubao stared blankly at the villa under the night sky, unmoving, his eyes full of attachment.

Jiayi could sense his feelings—he was going back to live with Huo Tianpei and Su Yan tomorrow; he must be reluctant to leave.

Especially, after overhearing the conversation between herself and Su Yan today... Would he despise Su Yan even more? Surely he didn’t want to go back.

She couldn’t help but ask, "Little Doubao, do you not want to go back?"

Little Doubao withdrew his gaze, slowly unbuckled his seatbelt, looked at Jiayi, and curved his lips into a polite smile, shaking his head maturely.

He understood he couldn’t stay in Disheng; he had to go back.

The more sensible he acted, the more it made Jiayi feel hurt.

If he were like an ordinary child—crying and throwing a tantrum about not wanting to leave—it might be easier to bear. But this level of understanding made her heart ache more.

Jiayi blurted, "If you really don’t want to go back, I can ask your grandfather again and see if we can let you stay for a few more days..."

Sigh, Huo Zhenyang would probably scold her to death for making such decisions on her own, wouldn’t he?

But looking at Little Doubao’s expression, anyone with a shred of compassion wouldn’t be able to steel their heart against this.

If that man got angry, well, she could always coax him more later!

Little Doubao opened his mouth and softly said, "No...It’s okay... I’ll go back."

Jiayi stared at his resolute gaze in shock, sighed softly, and said no more. She got out of the car, took his hand in hers, and led him into the house.

...

Early the next morning, at dawn, Su Yan arrived at Disheng with the driver to pick Little Doubao up, as if afraid he might stay longer and be swayed away.

Jiayi dressed Little Doubao neatly and took his hand to lead him downstairs.

Su Yan sat on the sofa, expression impatient as she waited. When she saw Little Doubao coming down, she abruptly stood up and moved forward to greet him:

"Little Doubao, let’s go back. Grandpa is still waiting for you at the hotel and has missed you so much these past few days. Come, come here."

Little Doubao gazed at Su Yan indifferently, without moving.

Jiayi felt the coldness in the little boy’s palm and braced herself. If he regretted it now and didn’t want to leave, she would definitely keep arguing with Su Yan to let Little Doubao stay longer at Disheng.

Su Yan noticed Little Doubao wasn’t moving and grew nervous, her expression turning uglier by the second.

Finally, Little Doubao let go of Jiayi’s hand and walked toward Su Yan.

Su Yan let out a breath of relief, quickly reached out, and pulled Little Doubao over with haste.

Little Doubao didn’t resist the way he used to but allowed her to hold his hand. This made Su Yan even more delighted; she straightened her back and, with a triumphant look, said to Jiayi, "Little Doubao, we’re leaving. Say goodbye to your cousin."

She said it but didn’t give the two boys any chance to properly say farewell, taking Little Doubao’s hand and heading out of the villa.

Little Doubao remained quiet as Su Yan led him outside, where the driver carried him into the car’s back seat.

Jiayi and Zaizai followed them to the door to see them off.

Zaizai ran to the car window, standing on tiptoe to place a bag of Little Doubao’s favorite chocolates inside: "Dou Shabao cousin, if you finish them, call me and Mom, and we’ll bring you more."

Su Yan’s tone was scathing as she sneered with a trace of mockery, "Don’t worry. Whatever your cousin likes, Grandpa and I will buy for him. There’s no need for you and your mom to send them personally."

Little Doubao hugged the chocolate in his arms and leaned his head against the car window to glance at Zaizai before looking back at Jiayi.

Su Yan abruptly ordered, "Drive!"

The car’s engine revved, moving away from Huo Mansion.

Little Doubao leaned against the car window, watching Huo Mansion fade into the distance. He didn’t withdraw his gaze until the car made a turn and exited the villa district, quietly sitting upright.

Su Yan’s gaze landed on the chocolate bag in his arms, and she frowned. Did these chocolates seek to win the child over? They must be dreaming!

This boy was her only bargaining chip for now—any thought of taking him from her was laughable!

His stay at Disheng had been the first time... and it would also be the last.

There would never be another time.

She forced a smile and said, "Little Doubao, we don’t need these chocolates. Tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll buy you something even better than this." As she spoke, she tentatively reached to pull the chocolates out of his arms.

Little Doubao’s expression shifted slightly, but surprisingly, he loosened his arms and didn’t resist, watching as Su Yan tossed the chocolates out the car window, remaining silent.

Su Yan noticed he seemed much more obedient since returning to her, feeling inwardly pleased. She softened her tone further, "It’s still early. How about I take you to the amusement park to play for a while?"

The time Little Doubao had spent under Jiayi’s care over these past days needed to be recovered—he shouldn’t think Jiayi was the only one treating him well.

Little Doubao hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Su Yan was overjoyed and immediately instructed the driver, "To the amusement park."

After spending the day accompanying Little Doubao at the amusement park, they left in the evening.

Su Yan frowned at the boy by her side, rubbing her sore shoulders and neck. She hadn’t expected looking after a child at the amusement park to be so exhausting—her back felt like it might snap.

Still, if it meant Little Doubao would stop rejecting her, all the effort would be worth it. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Little Doubao suddenly halted and glanced back at the bustling scene of the amusement park.

Su Yan quickly concealed her dissatisfaction, bent down, and gently asked, "What’s wrong, Little Doubao?"

Little Doubao didn’t reply, simply staring at the lively sights of the amusement park, his gaze full of longing.
