Chapter 305: Chapter 303: Used to Being Her Umbrella
The butler understood Ya Chen’s intention and ordered a doctor to check on Jiayi.
After the examination, the doctor said to Ya Chen, "Miss Chu is not in serious trouble, just a scrape on her elbow. It can be healed with some ointment."
Jiayi couldn’t help but glance at the man surrounded by bodyguards, feeling a bit inclined to ask the doctor how Huo Zhenyang was.
Amidst the crowd, Huo Zhenyang seemed to detect her hesitation and conflicting desire to ask, his thin lips curving slightly as he raised his voice lazily,
"Doctor, how am I doing?"
Jiayi’s heart stirred, realizing that he had guessed her intentions, yet knowing she couldn’t ask in front of Chu Family members, he did it deliberately.
She felt that her slight intention was nothing in front of this man, easily discernible to him as to what she was thinking.
Ya Chen also knew that it was Huo Zhenyang who had saved Jiayi, and now he politely inquired, "Doctor, how is Huo Zhenyang?"
The doctor replied, "His ankle is somewhat sprained, it might swell and pain for a couple of days, but there are no serious issues. Just apply some hot compresses, and rest for a few days and he’ll be fine."
It was good that there was no fracture.
Jiayi quietly sighed in relief.
Ya Chen’s brows furrowed, it seemed that Huo Zhenyang would use the excuse of an injury to prolong his stay in S Country.
The Prince of A Country being injured in S Country, both in emotion and reason, his father and Prime Minister Qu would certainly allow him to stay.
Perhaps he was even somewhat glad.
After a pause, Ya Chen ordered, "Take Huo Zhenyang back to his room and take good care of him."
The stretcher was already brought over, and a group of bodyguards lifted the Boss onto the stretcher and walked towards the exit of the horse field.
As they moved along, George bent down and said, "Boss, when Miss Jiayi fell from the horse just now, it seemed like the second young miss of the Chu Family did it on purpose."
A flash crossed Huo Zhenyang’s eyes as he looked back, glancing at the figure in the wheelchair indifferently, "Someone will teach Chu Er a lesson."
Although he personally did not stand up for Little Kitten this time, feeling slightly displeased as he had grown accustomed to being the sole protector for Little Kitten.
But what did it matter? As long as someone else would punish those who bullied her in his stead, it was fine.
His rather pale handsome face tensed with a knit of his striking eyebrows, as if enduring pain, as he finished speaking.
Seeing that the Boss was injured, George, already anxious, became even more concerned as he now saw his Boss’s pain-enduring expression and urged the bodyguards carrying the stretcher in a low voice, "Hurry up!"
On this side, Jiayi was thinking of getting Ya Chen out of the riding field but she saw that he had no intention of leaving.
The butler was taken aback, "Crown Prince."
On Ya Chen’s strict face, as flawless as fine jade, spread a layer of solemnity, "Invite Second Miss Chu over."
Jiayi’s horseback riding skills were excellent; her fall was purely due to Chu Xinyue’s deliberate tail flicking.
Ya Chen had already heard about it from a servant nearby.
The butler understood that the Crown Prince wanted to confront Chu Xinyue directly, and he bent over to smooth things out, "Perhaps it was unintentional... accidents can’t always be avoided in sports."
Unintentional?
If it weren’t for the incident at the stables today, Ya Chen might have thought that Chu Xinyue did it unintentionally.
But that incident at the stables made it clear to Ya Chen what was on Chu Xinyue’s mind.
Taking credit behind her sister’s back, stabbing her, suddenly challenging Jiayi to a race, and now Jiayi’s fall—how could it be unintentional?
He intensified his tone, leaving no room for rebuttal, "Now go and call her."
The usual warmth stripped away, he radiated the aura of the Crown Prince.
Minutes later, Chu Xinyue, who had been resting in the stands, was called over.
She had been riding a horse for half the day, and the strain on her body was too much. Having rested only a short while, her lips were still purple, and her complexion, a sickly pale green.
Now called before Ya Chen, Chu Xinyue’s body still swayed unsteadily, her heart racing.
She understood what Ya Chen was about to do; he was here to question her. Standing before him, her heart spasmed.
This man, he had fully regarded Jiayi as his guardian angel to protect, not leaving room for anyone else in his heart.
She had nearly harmed his angel; of course, his fury was inevitable.
A bitter smile curling at her lips, she suppressed the trembling in her voice, "I do not know why the Crown Prince has summoned me."
Ya Chen didn’t immediately expose her facade, affording her a shred of dignity, his voice cold, "Your sister has just fallen off her horse, shouldn’t you come to see her? Why were you sitting in the stand as if it was none of your business?"
Ya Chen could not see Chu Xinyue’s abnormal complexion, but the butler did and, fearing she might fall ill, interceded, "Miss Xinyue is not well, having ridden for half the day. She probably felt unwell, which is why she hasn’t had the time to come see Miss Jiayi yet. Let it be, Crown Prince. Perhaps let Miss Xinyue go home first!"
As he spoke, the butler shot Chu Xinyue a look, signalling her to make an excuse.
Chu Xinyue didn’t bother to defend herself, merely lifting her pale lips.
Ya Chen had no patience for the butler’s pretext, his face a mask of frost, "Uncomfortable from riding half the day? It seems to me she hurt someone and is afraid of being found out, hiding away to evade responsibility!"
The Crown Prince’s words fell like a thunderclap, silencing everyone present.
All eyes rapidly converged on Chu Xinyue.
He continued, his words sharp as knives, "With the Chu Family’s esteemed status, I always thought the daughters raised would know their books and etiquette, be genteel and cultured. The actions of the second miss have truly been an eye-opener for me, completely overturning my previous impressions of noble daughters! No different from a shrew!"
Another scathing rebuke that stunned the crowd.
Shrew.
So now, in Ya Chen’s eyes, besides being repulsive, she had acquired the title of a shrew?
Chu Xinyue’s face revealed a trace of a desolate smile, her fists clenched tight.
She had not expected that Ya Chen would show her no courtesy, humiliating her in front of everyone...
"I hope the second miss will know when to stop. I do not wish to hear of Jiayi being harmed again," the man’s voice grew even colder.
Chu Xinyue’s translucent face grew paler, a tearing sensation at the region of her left atrium.
The pain in her heart intensified, each word of Ya Chen’s accusation wrapping around her neck like a rope of hemp, suffocating her.
She so wanted to tell him, if it wasn’t for her childhood crush on him, knowing that her health meant she could never marry him, why would she act so out of character?
But innate pride and stubbornness prevented her from expressing herself in front of so many people.
She had always believed that if one lived long enough, many impossibilities could become possible.
So when Ya Chen had come to the stables to find her today, she clung to the fantasy that he would say, "I know now that you were the one who saved me back then..."
But now...
Her eyelids heavy, the world spinning, the beats of her heart slowed from frantic to sluggish.
Clutching her left atrium, her slender figure collapsed to the ground.
"The Chu Family’s second miss has fainted!"
Someone cried out in alarm.
