Lassim stood on the rooftop, his halberd raised high above his head as the blade crackled with violent arcs of lightning.

The energy around him surged, the night air buzzing with raw power as he gathered his strength for the coming assault.

Below, the Sun Sect’s forces patrolled the streets, unaware of the storm that was about to crash down on them.

Eveline crouched nearby, her eyes locked onto the city’s barrier system. She could see the faint glow of the formations woven into the ground, their power drawn from the lightning ley lines that ran beneath Amberlight.

Tristan stood on the opposite side, his hands already brimming with long-range lightning techniques, crackling at his fingertips.

Without another word, Lassim leaped off the rooftop, descending like a bolt of lightning.

The ground shook as he landed in the city square, the force of his arrival sending shockwaves through the street. Sun Sect guards turned in shock, their expressions frozen in disbelief for a split second before chaos erupted.

"Sound the alarm!" one of the guards shouted, his voice echoing through the city.

But Lassim was already in motion, his halberd slicing through the air in a wide arc. Lightning danced along the blade as it cleaved through the first wave of disciples responding to defend, sending them crashing to the ground in a flurry of sparks and thunder. The sheer power of his strike left the ground scorched, the air filled with the acrid smell of burnt ozone.

The alarm bells rang out, reverberating through the city as the Sun Sect’s forces scrambled to react.

But it was too late—Lassim’s presence had already thrown them into disarray.

"Now!" Lassim shouted, his voice booming over the din of battle.

Eveline was already moving. Her hands glowed with a dark violet light as she channeled her disruption techniques, sending tendrils of lightning-infused mana snaking through the ground toward the city’s barrier formations.

As her energy made contact, the formations flickered, their glow fading as the defensive matrix began to unravel.

She called out, her voice cutting through the chaos. "You’ve got your opening! Go!"

Lassim didn’t hesitate.

With a roar, he charged toward the heart of the city where the leaders were currently at, his halberd crackling with volatile energy as he charged a sharp dense blade of water mana along its edge.

As he sprinted, he could see the Sun Sect’s higher-ranking disciples rushing to intercept him—Spirit Ascension cultivators clad in the sect’s signature sunfire robes, their weapons gleaming with day-elemental energy.

But Lassim was relentless. He swung his halberd in a vicious arc, the blade glowing with a deadly combination of water and lightning mana. The force of his [Slash] expanded out and tore through the Sun Sect’s ranks, cutting them I halves like a scythe against grass.

The ground beneath his feet shook with his intense spiritual pressure and divine mana as his cultivation flared to its max To bring as much attention to himself as possible; the buildings trembling as his power rippled through the city.

From his vantage point, Tristan unleashed his own barrage of lightning attacks. Bolts of concentrated energy streaked through the air, striking key defensive guard positions across the city with pinpoint accuracy. Watchtowers crumbled, and Sun Sect archers and other long range weapon users were blown from their perches as Tristan systematically dismantled their long-range defenses.

Eveline moved swiftly, her disruption techniques targeting the remaining defensive formations around the command center.

She could feel the Sun Sect cultivators, possibly one of the leaders, trying to re-establish control over the barriers, but her energy was relentless, weaving through their defenses and tearing them apart from the inside as she threw more and more lightning runes into the air that floated off quickly to different spots around the city.

"They’re scrambling to restore the barriers," Eveline warned. "I won’t be able to hold them off forever."

"Don’t worry," Lassim said, a grin splitting his face as he swung his halberd again, this time cleaving through a Spirit Ascension disciple who had been foolish enough to charge him head-on. "We’ll be out of here as soon as the leaders show up."

Meanwhile, on the eastern side of the city, Aerin’s team was making their move.

Aerin, Kaelin, and Lara slipped through the old drainage system, their movements silent.

The narrow tunnels were dark and damp, the air thick with the smell of stagnant water and human waste, but the team navigated them with ease.

Aerin’s spirit sense led the way, guiding them toward the Sun Sect’s barracks.

"We’re almost there," Aerin whispered, his voice barely audible over the distant sounds of battle. "Remember, once we hit the barracks, we need to disable their communications control center as quickly as possible. If you see something that looks important, just smash it before they can protect it."

Kaelin nodded, his twin kris daggers gleaming faintly in the dim light. "Leave the guards to me. I’ll take them out before they even know we’re there."

Lara, her expression calm and focused, readied her defensive techniques. "I’ll set up barriers around the entrance once we’re inside. If they try to reinforce, I’ll make sure they can’t get through."

They emerged from the tunnel into the heart of the Sun Sect’s barracks. The building was a massive stone structure, reinforced with layers of magical defenses.

Sun Sect guards patrolled the perimeter, their weapons glowing with day-elemental energy as they scrambled to watch and protect their positions as they felt the vibrations of the battle outside.

Aerin motioned for Kaelin to take the lead. "Go."

In a blur of movement, Kaelin darted forward, his Lightning empowered speed leaving him nearly invisible to the naked eye to other spirit ascension stage cultivators.

Before the first guard even registered his presence, Kaelin’s Kris found their marks, cutting through armor and flesh with lethal precision.

One by one, the guards fell, their bodies crumpling to the ground without a sound.

Aerin and Lara followed closely behind, slipping into the barracks unnoticed.

Aerin quickly located the communication hub—a central chamber lined with runes and enchanted crystals that transmitted messages across the city.

Without hesitation, he began dismantling the system, his lightning chains crackling as they short-circuited the delicate rune line mechanisms.

"Almost there," Aerin muttered, his hands moving deftly as he disabled the last of the communication runes. "Lara, get ready to set up your barriers. Once this goes down, they’re going to know something’s wrong."

Lara nodded, her hands already glowing with defensive energy. "I’m ready."

The moment Aerin’s chains interrupted and destroyed the final rune, shattering it in its socket, the entire communication system went dark.

A new round of alarms blared throughout the barracks as the Sun Sect’s forces got a queue for what had just happened.

"Barriers up!" Aerin shouted.

Lara slammed her hands into the ground, and a shimmering wall of lightning-infused energy erupted around the entrance, sealing them off from the rest of the barracks.

The Sun Sect guards who rushed to reinforce were met with an impenetrable barrier, their attacks bouncing harmlessly off its surface.

Then before they could react, Lara waved her hand and gave the barrier a new rune injection that caused the barrier to shoot out lightning bolts like a porcupine. They should out in every direction, charring and shocking everyone too close to the barrier.

"We’re clear," Aerin said, a satisfied smirk on his face as he watched most of the guards fall over due to Lara’s attack. "Let’s move."

Back in the city square, Lassim and his group had made significant progress. The Sun Sect’s forces were in disarray, their defenses crumbling under the relentless assault.

Eveline’s disruption techniques had dismantled the barriers around the command center, and Tristan’s long-range attacks kept the remaining defenders pinned down.

"Let’s get them to come greet us since they’re playing hard to get," Lassim said, his eyes locked on the command center. "We’re going in."

He charged forward, his halberd glowing with the deadly Explosive power of [Hydroburst]. The ground shook beneath his feet as he sprinted toward the command center, the Sun Sect’s remaining spirit ascension cultivators scrambling to stop him.

But they were too late.

Lassim’s halberd slammed into the doors of the command center, the explosive force of his attack blowing them off their hinges.

He stormed inside, his eyes scanning the room for any sign of the Sun Sect’s leadership.

Inside, a group of high-ranking Sun Sect cultivators stood waiting, their expressions grim but resolute.

At their center was a man clad in ornate sunfire armor, his aura radiating with the power of the Spirit Transcendent stage as a halo with 6 rings sat above his head.

"You must be Lassim," the man said, his voice calm despite the chaos around him. "I’ve heard much about you."

Lassim twirled his halberd, his gaze locked on the man. "Then you know how this is going to end. We’ll be taking back this city for my sect."

The Sun Sect leader chuckled darkly. "We’ll see."

With a wave of his hand, the Sun Sect leader summoned a massive wave of day-elemental energy, the air around him crackling with heat as he launched the attack toward Lassim.

But Lassim was already moving, his halberd cutting through the air as he countered with a torrent of water-infused lightning that shot forward like a wave.

The two forces collided in a brilliant explosion of light and energy, the ground beneath them cracking from the sheer force of the impact.

The other Sun Sect cultivators joined the fray, their weapons glowing with day-elemental power as they attacked Lassim from all sides.

But Lassim was unstoppable. His halberd was a blur of motion as he deflected their attacks, each swing of his weapon sending arcs of lightning through the room.

Tristan, from his vantage point outside, targeted the cultivators with precise blasts of lightning, thinning their numbers and keeping them off-balance.

Eveline focused on the Sun Sect leader, her disruption techniques weakening his defenses and making him vulnerable to Lassim’s attacks.

With a sudden, powerful swing, Lassim’s halberd cleaved through the Sun Sect leader’s defenses, the blade cutting deep into his chest.

The man staggered back, blood pouring from the wound as his eyes widened.

"You… you’re stronger than I expected… But this place is too important. Gaelin! Carlyle! NOW!!," the Sun Sect leader gasped, his voice strained to shout.

Lassim didn’t reply as he felt the situation turn ominous at his opponents’ ravings.

Before anything else could happen, he brought his halberd down one last time to miss his chance to get rid of an enemy, the blade crackling with energy as it struck the Sun Sect leader’s heart.

The man’s body convulsed before collapsing to the ground, lifeless.

The room fell silent as the Sun Sect leader’s body crumpled to the ground, blood pooling around his still form.

But then, a sudden surge of overwhelming spiritual pressure filled the air as he raised his halberd and turned in defense.

Lassim’s instincts screamed a warning, and his gaze snapped toward the far end of the room.

The walls trembled as two figures stepped through the shattered doors, their auras blazing with power.

Both of them had the unmistakable halos of Spirit Transcendent cultivators, one with seven glowing rings above his head, the other with eight. More rings than the both of his specialized Spirit Transcendent companions.

A broad-shouldered man whose eyes blazed with intensity, was the first to enter. His hair was a wild shock of white, and his armor crackled with residual day-elemental energy.

Behind him followed a lean and wiry figure with sharp features, his movements precise and almost rigid; his gaze cold and calculating despite his sunny attire.

Both men locked their eyes onto Lassim, their auras oppressive and suffocating, the sheer weight of their power sending cracks through the stone floor beneath their feet.

Their presence alone commanded respect, even to Lassim—these were clearly no ordinary Spirit Transcendents.
