Chapter 1047: Chapter 299: Attempt_2
Although it was An Wuping who ambushed Hu Yi first, Hu Yi had at least been briefed by Wu An, so of course he couldn’t turn around and attack An Wuping.
Besides, he also understood why An Wuping would have a triggered reaction and want to stab him the moment he saw him.
After all, from his perspective, he was the only one who knew An Wuping was a good guy, while An Wuping had no idea that he was actually a good guy too.
The Association’s Psychic next to them hurried up to stop An Wuping, saying anxiously, "Whoa whoa whoa, there’s nothing wrong with Hu Yi, don’t fight."
Originally, An Wuping could have easily broken free of this not-so-strong Association Psychic’s restraint.
But Chen Ming felt like he had no chance to give Hu Yi a stab today.
No matter how you put it, Hu Yi was a level-6 Psychic; without fully unleashing his Spiritual Energy, and with the surprise-attack advantage already gone, it would be really hard for An Wuping to win against Hu Yi head-on.
So An Wuping took the offered step down, retracted the Plasma on his short blade, patted the Association Psychic holding him back, and asked, "What do you mean?"
Seeing this, Hu Yi let out a breath of relief and explained, "What I mean is, the reason you saw me over at Zuo Jing before was because someone was directing me to do things."
The Association’s Psychic hurriedly grabbed Hu Yi, who looked like he might blurt out something he really shouldn’t at any moment.
At the same time, he quickly turned his head to say the part he could say to An Wuping: "A while back, Hu Yi’s reputation took a hit because he was framed by that Thousand Faces from Zuo Jing, who disguised himself as him to do bad things."
"But a few days ago, he worked with one of our Association Psychics to infiltrate Zuo Jing undercover and has been helping us get things done."
"He really is a good person, and the President can vouch for him."
Hu Yi immediately nodded on the side and said, "Yeah, that’s how it is, there’s really nothing wrong with me, don’t just see me hanging around with Zuo Jing before and come looking for trouble with me."
"And besides, you can’t beat me anyway, right? There’s seriously no need for us to fight. If we do, we’ll have to pay for the Association’s ship repairs."
An Wuping’s expression instantly went cold.
Because to be fair, facts were facts.
Hu Yi’s mouth really was kind of asking for a beating.
And over on Hu Yi’s side, he was completely unaware that what he’d just said was dripping with heavy sarcasm.
Add to that the fact that Chen Ming himself really found Hu Yi an eyesore and very much wanted to give him another stab.
Fortunately, Liang Fei and Niu Xin rushed over at that moment, quickly putting themselves between the two, afraid Hu Yi would keep running his mouth and stir things up.
Niu Xin also apologized repeatedly to both An Wuping and Hu Yi, then re-explained the whole situation from beginning to end.
On his way over, he had basically figured out what was going on, and from the surveillance he’d seen An Wuping’s moves, so he knew An Wuping had already been deliberately holding back.
So at this point he knew exactly what kind of actions would resolve things the fastest.
The personal terminal Liang Fei had given An Wuping suddenly lit up with a communication.
Once he connected, the President’s voice immediately came through: "Sorry, An Wuping, there were some things we didn’t manage to inform you of in time, so let me apologize first."
"Hu Yi really is someone we sent to go undercover in Zuo Jing. He helped us take back control over a Star System, and he also got us two samples of Zuo Jing’s research subjects. There’s really no problem with him."
"It was my side that failed to notify you properly, which led to the misunderstanding."
For someone like the President, to主动 lower himself to explain and apologize.
At that point, whoever it was would pretty much have to let it go.
So An Wuping did not keep pressing the issue.
Anyway, if it doesn’t work this time, there’s always a next time.
At least this time, he’d learned that Hu Yi had a layer of Entropy Armor that seemed to be passively active.
Next time, he’d be able to prepare a targeted response before making a move.
After all, fake bodies were things you could have as many of as you wanted; finding a chance to stab Hu Yi once was no big deal.
Chen Ming had always been a clear-headed person who separated grudges and favors.
Anyone who wanted to kill him, he would always find a way to turn it around and kill them instead, and he had indeed succeeded several times.
It was just that Hu Yi’s case was a bit special.
Because Hu Yi hadn’t directly attacked before; he’d only indirectly blocked the Boss from helping, which counted as stabbing Chen Ming in the back from the side, forcing Chen Ming to face troublesome enemies himself.
And afterwards, he had proactively reconciled with the Boss and stated that he also wanted to reconcile with Chen Ming and make amends.
So Chen Ming reasonably downgraded his hatred.
As long as the compensation result satisfied him, he would only carry out equivalent retaliation—that is, turn around and stab Hu Yi once while doing something.
It could be screwing Hu Yi over at an opportune moment like last time, or it could be literally stabbing Hu Yi in a physical sense.
More or less the same thing.
So now An Wuping put away his Weapon, nodded to Niu Xin, and turned to leave.
On the other side, Hu Yi, who was also about to leave, suddenly sneezed for no apparent reason.
He gave An Wuping a strange look over his shoulder, then turned his head back with a puzzled expression; he felt a faint sense of danger.
The source seemed like it was An Wuping, but also like it came from very far away, leaving him a bit confused for a moment.
But he didn’t dwell on it. He shook his head and continued walking toward another part of the ship.
"Alright, alright. Let’s go too."
Liang Fei pulled An Wuping back to the room from before.
He double-checked with An Wuping whether there were any other special circumstances, to prevent a repeat of what had just happened.
After confirming there were none, he didn’t say anything more; he settled An Wuping in and then left.
