Chapter 321: Chapter 321: There’s Something I Need to Tell You

"Captain Qiao." Su Qing said quickly when she heard Qiao Wensong’s voice. "I’ve discovered something about the missing persons case."

"What?!" Qiao Wensong’s voice shot up at her words. "Didn’t I tell you this case was too dangerous? That you were supposed to stay away from it?"

He glanced at the pitch-black night outside and grew even more frantic. "And you went looking for clues in the middle of the night? What would you have done if those people had found you? They’re vicious, desperate criminals! They might even be armed. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?"

A wave of fear washed over Qiao Wensong. "Where are you right now? Are you safe?"

"I’m at a police station in town." Su Qing was touched by his concern. "Don’t worry," she said quickly, "I’m perfectly safe right now."

"That’s good." Qiao Wensong naturally assumed Su Qing was under police protection, which set his mind at ease a little. He then asked for details. "Right, what was it you said you discovered?"

"Here’s what happened," Su Qing explained. "I found a plantation deep in the mountains out here. They’re growing a lot of flowers I don’t recognize, and there are a lot of people there. I think it lines up with your earlier theories, so I called you right away."

Since they were on the phone, Su Qing was intentionally vague, but she knew Qiao Wensong would understand exactly what she meant.

And sure enough, he did. His mind was reeling. After all their speculating, he never would have dreamed the criminals had set up their operation deep in the mountains of Guang Province. It was right under their noses. The sheer audacity of it!

Just then, something else occurred to Qiao Wensong. "Su Qing," he said, "you didn’t sneak inside to take a look, did you?"

"I just took a quick peek." Su Qing pursed her lips, her voice dropping. At the same time, she held the phone a little further from her ear.

"What? You—you went inside by yourself?" As expected, Qiao Wensong’s voice jumped another octave. "Do you have any idea..."

Su Qing blinked and quickly cut him off. "I know it was dangerous, but I’m fine, aren’t I? I’m on the phone with you right now, and I’m perfectly safe."

Qiao Wensong knew he was overreacting, but he couldn’t be blamed. Anyone would be shocked to hear a young woman had walked into a den of criminals all by herself. He knew Su Qing was capable, but these weren’t people you could mess with.

"Fine. But this is the one and only time. Don’t let it happen again." Qiao Wensong took a deep breath to calm himself. "Now, walk me through the details. And tell me your exact location."

"Okay."

Su Qing then recounted everything she had seen in the deep mountains, telling Qiao Wensong down to the last detail. As for her location, she had taken note when she arrived at the police station that it was the Sanshui Town police station, so she gave him the name of the town.

The more he listened, the more alarmed Qiao Wensong became. "I’m leaving for your location right now," he said urgently. "I’ll also notify my colleagues in Guang City and have them head over. Starting now, you are not to go anywhere. Just stay put in Sanshui Town and wait for us. Got it?"

"Oh, okay. I’ll stay in Sanshui Town." Su Qing’s mind was already racing. ’I have to get out of here soon. I did just knock out two police officers.’ After a moment’s thought, she decided she had to confess to Qiao Wensong. "Um, there’s actually something else I need to tell you."
