Chapter 124: Chapter 124: How Important Is He to You
"Finn, how could you do this!" Evelyn exclaimed, "You clearly told me you were fired and said you didn’t even have money for food, so I lent you five thousand dollars!"
"I can’t do anything if you won’t admit it," Finn said coldly, "Anyway, I don’t have any other evidence, just that five thousand dollar transfer record."
"You’re just..."
"Mr. Lockwood!" Finn interrupted Evelyn, "You can go ask at the school, before you appeared, there were already rumors about me and Evelyn."
Evelyn opened her mouth, her throat dry as if something was stuck, unable to make a sound.
Finn’s sudden change of tone made her feel this wasn’t so simple.
It seemed he was framing her on purpose.
But, why?
To make her and Caden Lockwood fight?
"Mr. Lockwood, I’ve made myself clear enough. I know this isn’t a great look for you, but the things that need to be resolved must be resolved properly."

With that, Finn hung up the phone.
Hearing the "beep beep" of the busy signal, Evelyn’s eyes stiffly turned to Caden Lockwood, whose dark eyes were filled with a deep cold light, his lips pressed straight without a hint of a smile, standing there with authority like a ruthless judge.
Her scalp tingling, she managed to squeeze out a few syllables: "I really didn’t!"
Her eyes were filled with earnest hope, hoping Caden Lockwood would give her a bit of warmth in his response.
But.
There was none.
He just stared at her, without any reaction.
She felt so helpless.
Perhaps, no one would believe her.
After all, she had no evidence to prove her innocence, and she really did transfer five thousand dollars to Finn.
Taking a deep breath, she tried to maintain her composure, at least there was still a slim chance to clear her name.
"It was Finn who suddenly came to me, saying he was in financial trouble, and that it was all your fault! I hesitated, not knowing how to ask you, and he happened to ask me to urgently lend him five thousand dollars, so I lent it to him!" Evelyn, somewhat disorganized, couldn’t articulate clearly, "I really didn’t intend to have any relationship with him, how could I do such a thing!"
Seeing Evelyn’s flushed face, her eyes bright as a mirror with uncertain light flickering, Caden Lockwood said coldly, "Why are you explaining so much?"
Evelyn was tongue-tied, unsure how to respond to Caden Lockwood’s indifferent remark.
He...really doesn’t believe her!
Indeed, why should he believe her?
He probably looks down on her too!

"I don’t want to be misunderstood," she softly said, "I’ll find a way to prove my innocence, if..."
Pausing here, she didn’t have the courage to continue.
Caden Lockwood stood there, without any intention to interrupt Evelyn, waiting for her to continue.
But his attitude had already left her almost in despair.
"If I can’t prove my innocence, I still have to clarify one last time, the truth is not as Finn described!" Evelyn said, averting her eyes, her gaze drifting towards the window.
The sky was already very dark.
She only felt the surrounding chill surge even more fiercely, even the air she breathed was cold, entering her body through her nose, freezing every cell in her body.
"Didn’t I tell you to stay away from him in the future?" Caden Lockwood’s voice was lowered, his sharp aura both arrogant and domineering.
"I..." Evelyn felt helpless, "It was all him first..."
"Five thousand bucks." His voice squeezed out from between his teeth, "That’s your entire savings, right? Just how important is he to you, that someone who wouldn’t normally spare even two bucks can be so generous?"
