Sister Henri knelt and hugged Maring-chan with both hands.

I seated the children and looked at the menu.

There were several items crossed out. The only selectable item was...
"Stir-fried vegetables set meal."
Just one choice.
The price was five copper coins.
"...This is the only menu item. Well, since there’s no other choice, how about everyone gets this? If you don’t like it, there’s nothing else."
I asked the children with a wry smile.
"Fufu, the children are growing, so they’ll eat anything happily."
Sister Henri smiled at me. Then we placed the order.
"Order please."
"Yes! Thank you. What would you like... right now we only have stir-fried vegetables set meal... I’m sorry."
The girl who replied was a junior high school student.
"I see. Then, please make eleven portions of stir-fried vegetables."
"Yes! Thank you! Sister, one order of stir-fried vegetables for eleven people!"

I could hear the sizzling of vegetables being stir-fried.
"Here we are! Enjoy your stir-fried vegetables set meal!"
Fresh stir-fried vegetables steamed as they were served. It looked delicious at first glance...
but upon closer inspection, the vegetables were clearly scraps and leftovers.
It wasn’t bad in terms of taste, but it wasn’t professional. It was home-cooked food.
