We were walking straight down the main road from the west gate toward the adventurers’ guild. I was walking next to Gerdon, the orc in a tattered robe, and Logan was following behind carrying Chick Captain on his head.
People around us were making quite a fuss about it.
I couldn’t help it, I was wearing a tattered robe, but an orc’s face was visible.
I should just buy a scary mask somewhere, that will atleast not bring this much attention.
"Oh! That bright red full-plate armor looks great. It has that heavy, imposing feel on Gerdon’s body."
『It’s bright red, aren’t you embarrassed?』
"If you wear it, you can’t see it yourself."
While we were talking, the adventurers’ guild sign came into view.
"So this is the adventurers’ guild. The building is really huge."
We reached the building with the guild sign on it. It was an extremely large structure.
『This is the first human town, so buildings this big are impressive.』
Gerdon was simply amazed and looked up at the building.

"Every guild has that chime, huh."
『Is that a rule?』
"I don’t know, but it seems like you can’t enter quietly."
Saying that, Gerdon and I entered.
Logan was supposed to wait outside, but I had told him to follow me inside.

He seemed surprised but came along anyway.

The receptionist jumped out from behind the counter.
"I-I’m sorry! Bringing contracted beasts inside the guild hall is strictly prohibited! So... "
I cut her explanation short.
"It’s an emergency. Please put me through to the guild master. This is the same information as the injured adventurers who came earlier."
"Eh!? The earlier... Anyway, please wait here."
She rushed to the back room, knocked, and stuck her head in.
Then she came back again.
"Follow me. The guild master has given special permission to let you bring your contracted beast inside."
"Thank you."
『You have quite the negotiating skills.』
"It’s simple. When the other side is in trouble and you look like you can do something, a little leeway is possible."

Gerdon looked impressed.
After knocking, the receptionist announced, "Guild Master, please enter."
"Come in."
The door opened for me. Inside were two adventurers receiving first aid, and a burly man with a Kaiser mustache. That must be the guild master.
People started filing into the room one after another very soon.
I could sit on the sofa next to the adventurers, but Gerdon couldn’t.
"Sit."
I sat on the sofa.

I told Gerdon to stand and then sat down.
"So, about the emergency. Can you tell me the details?"
The guild master, Kaiser, dove straight into the story without introductions. That showed how panicked he was. I hoped he wasn’t just being rude.
"This orc told us that an army of orcs is coming. I want to hear the full story."
"Yeah. These people risked their lives to bring us that information."
Two adventurers, still being treated, sat on the sofa.
"How many orcs did you see?"
"I didn’t count exactly, but... I think it was almost a thousand."
The male adventurer shivered even now.
『That’s right. I think it was about a thousand.』
"Guild Master, according to this orc, there really are about a thousand orcs gathering."

The guild master, who was supposed to be proud, flicked his finger while grumbling.
