Chapter 105: Let’s Celebrate Our Reunion in the Capital with Breakfast

Fileontina kept marching forward, still locking my right arm in place.

"It would be nice to find somewhere to eat breakfast, wouldn’t it."

She looked around, scanning the surroundings.

"Boss, this is Sentinel, tenth in rank. If I may be so bold, there is a shop nearby that would be perfect for breakfast."

"Oh, excellent work, Sentinel! Lead the way, please!"

"What is it, my husband?"

"Fileontina. I’m not your husband yet."

"Oh my, just the fact that you’d welcome me is thrilling enough."

Fileontina answered my wry laugh with a beaming smile. She genuinely looked happy about it. I’m at a loss here.

"Seems like our little chick found a recommended place. Should we go check it out?"

"I leave it entirely to you!"

Fileontina walked along cheerfully, arm still locked with mine.

"A chick’s recommendation, huh..."

Patti tilted her head in confusion as she slowly guided the carriage along.

We turned into a back street and after a short walk arrived in front of what looked like a cafe.

"Cafe Crystal Garden... not bad at all."

My instincts were tingling. This place would be good.

"Though it’s surprising they’re open this early..."

I said, pushing the door open.

A bell attached to the door gave a cute little jingle.

"Welcome! Good morning!"

A cheerful voice greeted us. A cute girl in an apron came out to welcome us.

"Hm?"

She was a striking beauty, but on her head were... big ears?

"Ah, does that surprise you? I’m a fox person. So I have fox ears and a tail, you see?"

She spun around on the spot, and a fluffy tail could be seen peeking out from under her skirt.

"Oh my, how adorable!"

Fileontina seemed just as surprised by the fox tail.

"Might I ask this lovely young lady’s name?"

"I’m Luna. Nice to meet you all!"

Luna greeted us energetically.

"We should be grateful to have found such a wonderful young lady’s shop. We’d like a light breakfast, do you have any recommendations?"

"Of course! Please, have a seat here. I’ll bring the menu right away!"

She led us to a table. With me, Fileontina, and the six members of the Five Stars, it was a fairly large group, but we were shown to a big enough table that everyone could sit.

"Here’s the menu. We have three breakfast sets in the morning! You can also add a drink from the list below."

The smiling staff member explained. The set menus seemed to include freshly baked bread with salad and a drink, a soup based set with salad and a drink, and an egg dish with salad and a drink. Aside from the sets, you could also order freshly baked bread, soup, or egg dishes separately as extras.

I asked everyone what they wanted and placed the order, adding plenty of extra items too.

"A toast to the miracle of meeting again. This one’s on me. Eat as much as you like."

"Whoa! Sir Yabe, that’s generous of you." "Are you sure about this?" "Yabe san, we can’t ask that of you."

Everyone tried to hold back out of politeness, but I waved it off.

"We got to meet again here in the capital. Let’s enjoy ourselves properly."

And so, plenty of dishes were brought out for us.

"Delicious!" "This bread is so soft!" "This soup is amazing too."

Everyone from the Five Stars was eating happily.

Fileontina too was elegantly eating her egg dish with a knife and fork.

"Mm... the heat on this omelet is done just perfectly!"

Fileontina praised the omelet. Honestly, she seemed far more like a proper noble lady than Irina or Luciana chan.

"So then, Lord Yabe. Will the number of wives be increasing?"

"Pfft!"

I nearly spat out my after breakfast tea at Fileontina’s question.

"No... there’s no plan to increase the number right now."

"Hmm, is that really so? There does seem to be something weighing on your heart, doesn’t there?"

Sharp as ever. No wonder she’d made a living reading fortunes.

"Well, I’m busy helping people around the capital right now. What about you, Fileontina, what will you do?"

"Of course I intend to stay by Lord Yabe’s side the whole time. Please let me help however I can."

It was a generous offer, but I wasn’t sure if I could really ask to have her stay at the Coluna Frontier Count’s residence too.

"What about the rest of you, the Five Stars?"

"We’re heading back to the town of Tarbal. Once we get Fileontina sama’s signature confirming the job’s done, we’ll get it verified at the Adventurers’ Guild here in the capital, then head back."

"I see, travel safe. Once my business here in the capital is done, I’ll be heading back too, and I’ll stop by Tarbal on the way."

"Heading back, where does Sir Yabe even live?"

"A frontier village called Kaso. The nearest town is called Sorenarini. It’s part of the Coluna Frontier Count’s territory."

"Whoa, you came a really long way to the capital then. What for, anyway?"

I answered Rigen’s casual question with brutal honesty.

"Ah, the king summoned me."

"WHAAAT!?"

The Five Stars members looked utterly stunned.

"I figured something was off about him, but..." "He really was something else." "Lord Yabe met with the king..." "Patti!? Hey, Patti!? Come back to reality!"

Setting aside the group who’d gone blank with shock, I looked over at Fileontina’s face.

"Fileontina. Are you really going to keep following me? I’m just a man traveling around with no real prospects, you know."

I asked, testing her resolve.

"Please don’t worry yourself about that at all, Lord Yabe. I’ll simply be by your side, that’s all there is to it. I’ve already sold off my house, so I have nowhere to go back to anyway."

Her resolve was no joke!

"...I see. Well, do as you like then. I’m sure you’ll get tired of me soon enough anyway. Also, I’ll be quite busy during my stay in the capital, so I probably won’t have much time to spare."

I threw out a bunch of excuses.

"Please don’t worry. I’ll simply be following my husband, that’s all."

She declared it with a radiant smile, without a hint of hesitation.

This is bad... I might actually be falling for her a little. The faces of Irina, Luciana chan, and for some reason even Cassina flashed through my mind, so I slapped both my cheeks to snap myself back into focus.
