Chapter 709: Chapter 709: Farewell, Mortals

"I take it that means the trial is indeed complete? No additions or extensions or anything, right?" I frowned warily.

"Yes, it is over now. While the trial was cleared far more easily than we anticipated, the fact remains that you mortals cleared the trial according to the terms we agreed upon. Thus, we have no choice but to accept the outcome, pursuing the matter any further would be beneath our dignity," Responded Uranus, sounding a bit disgruntled.

"Then, it’s really over? We can return to our normal lives?" Inquired Ciel with a grin.

"Indeed. We shall send you to the moment at which you returned to Earth from the other world. Well, except for Leto Nex and Alkimia Alchy, they shall be returned to Sanctuary Delta and Sanctuary Epsilon, respectively.

Additionally, Ariella Velle and Jaden Xeno will retain their memories of the altered reality in addition to their original memories, that should save you the trouble of explaining things to them. As for the rest of the world, all memories of the altered reality shall be erased," Chronos informed us.

"Yeah, sounds good. The general public retaining their memories of the altered reality could work against us," I nodded thoughtfully.

"There is, however, the issue of the humans who were killed during the last battle against our Heralds," Mused Uranus in response.

Huh?

"W-Wait, what do you mean? We didn’t kill-...," Began Cleo, before trailing off in realization as she glanced at Leto.

Bastard. Alright, then, in that case...

"How about this? Instead of sending this piece of shit back to Sanctuary Delta, send him to Sanctuary Alpha. And don’t change the fact that he killed all those Hunters. Yeah, make him a wanted criminal," I decided, after taking a moment to mull it over.

"Wh-What?! The hell, that’s not fair, damn it! Those people attacked me, I-I was just defending myself!" He shot back defensively.

"That’s not what I saw, you went out of your way to try and kill Aria. Oh, and make no mistake, I am not letting that slide. I’ll hunt you down and kill you, you have my word on that," I warned him icily.

"If the majority of you agree with that course of action, we have no objections," Remarked Chronos.

"Yeah, I’m on-board with that. It’s clear that we can’t just let this asshole run around freely," Frowned Ciel warily.

"I-I vote in favor too," Nodded Cleo with a grimace, a look of dismay appearing on Leto’s face.

"Same. The whole time we were in the Pocket Dimension, it felt like he was just itching to kill us at any given moment," Spoke up Alkimia in agreement.

"Y-You pieces of shit...you’ll pay for this, I’ll make you regret this, I fucking swear," Growled Leto spitefully.

"Oh, don’t worry, I’ll kill you before you have the chance," I responded icily, before adding as I addressed the Gods, "Alright, if there’s nothing else, we’d like to go back to our lives now."

"Very well, we shall send you back promptly. But before that, there is one last matter. You see, as a reward for executing the trial, we promised our Heralds that we would fulfill any single request. And Baraqiel has requested to return to Earth, it seems he quite enjoyed his brief time there," Uranus informed us.

What?

"Well, uh...I mean, so long as he doesn’t attack us or cause any problems, I guess that’s fine?" I replied hesitantly.

"Of course. He intends to masquerade as a Hunter, he will not antagonize any humans unless attacked or otherwise provoked. If he violates that term, we will immediately return him to the Divine Realm and extinguish his very existence. So, rest assured, he will not pose you any problems."

"In that case, how about we go with the story that he joined us from the other world, like my mother? I’d rather not have our reality altered to fit him in, and I definitely don’t want people knowing he’s a literal Angel. We can simply say he’s a member of a race from that other world, it’s not like anyone can fact check us on that," I pointed out.

"Very well, I see no problem with that," Responded Uranus after a brief pause.

"Alright, then, to summarize it, those of you who were summoned to that other world will be sent to the moment you returned to this world.

Additionally, we shall place Baraqiel in your Pocket Dimension. Alkimia Alchy shall return to her residence in Sanctuary Delta, while Leto Nex shall be sent to Sanctuary Alpha.

And besides the five of you, the only ones who will retain their memories of the altered reality shall be Ariella Velle, Jaden Xeno and Kavi Intrix. Along with your Apostles and Spirits, of course," Added Chronos.

"And the only alteration to reality that shall remain will be the specifics of the deaths of the victims of Leto Nex.

Since we are undoing the alteration that the five of you are wanted criminals, we shall change it so that his victims were killed in a manner that portrays Leto Nex as a serial killer," Remarked Uranus.

"H-Hold on, this isn’t fucking fair! I-I deserve a chance to live my life freely too!"

"You contributed nothing to clearing the trial, thus, we shall prioritize the requests of those who did contribute," Stated Chronos in response.

"Th-That’s not fucking fair, damn it! At least give me a power boost or something, and a good hiding place too!" Protested Leto frantically.

"We cannot give you a power boost. Unfair Divine blessings is the entire reason this trial happened in the first place. But I suppose we can fulfill your second request, at least. Very well, then, we shall send you to a safe location in Sanctuary Alpha."

Tch, guess hunting him down won’t be that easy. Well, no matter, he can’t stay under the radar forever, it’ll only be a matter of time. One way or another, I will find and kill him.

"I believe all matters have been settled. Let us conclude this, you will not hear from us again. Farewell, mortals."
