Chapter 687: Chapter 687: Baraqiel Baraqijal (Part 5)

<Hm, the energy around that Halo is linked to the energy fueling the barrier>

<I’ll analyze it as quickly as I can, it should give you more insight into his weakness>

"What? No, of course not. Do you truly believe I would have such an obvious weakness? How foolish-...," Scoffed Baraqiel.

"I see, so you don’t know that I have the ability to detect lies," I cut him off, a grimace appearing on his face.

"So, all we gotta do is destroy that Halo?" Smirked Ciel, firing out a rapid explosive projectile at Baraqiel.

He shot up into the air with a powerful flap of his wings, an intense explosion erupting below him as the projectile struck the ground. His gaze shifted across as Cleo came zipping in towards him, firing out a volley of atomic blasts at him.

He swiftly canceled them out with a flurry of lightning bolts, before veering across as I took aim and fired out a piercing beam of Negative Energy at him, narrowly missing his left side.

I shot up into the air and zipped away as a barrage of light blasts came shooting towards me, loud crashes ringing out as the glowing projectiles peppered the ground, a chain of bright flashes of light erupting upon impact.

He then shot towards Cleo, keeping Ciel at bay with a flurry of light blasts. He swerved across as Cleo fired out a wave of atomic energy, grazing his left arm, the damage almost instantly repairing itself.

She began to fly out of the way as he closed in on her, before being brought to an abrupt halt as he grabbed her right wrist. As lightning erupted around his right hand, Cleo triggered an intense atomic shockwave to try and blast him away, but his grip on her wrist didn’t weaken.

As he began to drive the charged up lightning towards Cleo’s head, he froze and glanced back as a rapid explosive projectile came shooting in towards him from behind. He quickly spun around, whipping Cleo around and starting to swing her in the direction of the incoming explosion.

She swiftly whipped her left arm across, slicing through the middle of her right forearm with her claws, before rushing to blast herself across to the left with a burst of atomic energy, just barely getting out of the way of the explosive projectile in time.

Baraqiel quickly folded his wings in front of himself in alarm, a devastating explosion erupting as the projectile collided against his wings, several feathers getting torn off by the force of the blast as the Angel got sent hurtling back through the air.

He then turned his gaze to the left as I rushed in and closed in on him, lightning crackling around his hands as I raised Desecrator. Suddenly, several tendrils of blood came shooting out from behind a nearby pile of rubble, sneaking up on him from behind and zipping in towards his limbs.

He gritted his teeth and unleashed a burst of lightning with a roar of exertion, a sharp sizzle ringing out as he vaporized the blood, a foul, burnt stench filling the air as a cloud of red steam burst out around him.

He quickly tilted his head back as I swung Desecrator down at his Halo, grazing the tip of his nose, before I unleashed Ravage: Cloak as he fired out a piercing bolt of lightning at the middle of my torso, right in the nick of time as the swirling black and white energy wrapped around me and absorbed the lightning.

He was quick to fly back and get some distance, while continuing to fire his attacks at me. He’s trying to make sure that I don’t deactivate Ravage: Cloak and save it for later, he wants to force me to use up the time limit.

But if he focuses that intently on me...

He stiffened as Ciel suddenly appeared behind him as she launched herself up with an explosive burst, a smirk on her face as she activated the special ability of her Personalis Arma and manifested her Explosion Blade.

She swung it down at his Halo as he rapidly spun around in alarm, grimacing as he coated his right hand in lightning and drove it towards the middle of her torso. He tensed as his hand phased right through her, right before a devastating explosion erupted with immense force as Ciel struck his Halo with her blade of concentrated explosive energy.

An intense shockwave burst out after the deafening boom, before a figure came shooting out of the blast zone with blinding speed, a loud crash ringing out as the figure slammed onto a large pile of rubble.

A couple of seconds passed before a pained groan rang out, Baraqiel emerging from the rubble with a grimace. There wasn’t so much as a single scratch on his Halo, the air around it shimmering more intensely than before.

<Oh, that helped with my analysis, I’m just about done>

<This barrier, along with his Divine Art: Ascent, has no time limit>

What?

<That doesn’t mean it’ll last forever though>

<If his Mana runs out or his Halo gets destroyed, the barrier will fade>

<But there’s a powerful forcefield of concentrated Mana wrapped around his Halo, even the Personalis Arma weapons would have a hard time breaking through that forcefield>

<The concentration is so intense that it’s basically warping the space around the Halo, and right before Ciel’s last strike connected, he instinctively strengthened the forcefield, likely out of panic>

<While it isn’t actively consuming Mana, he’s assigned about a tenth of his total MP capacity to fuel this forcefield>

<In other words, if you can force him to drain through ninety percent of his total MP, he’ll be forced to weaken the forcefield to free up some Mana>

I see, so that’s why he didn’t unleash Ascent immediately, he’s only got one shot at using it.

"Alright, everyone. Focus on wearing down his Mana, we’ll be able to destroy the Halo with ease after that," I called out to Ciel and Cleo, Baraqiel’s eyes widening as a grim look appeared on his face...
