Upon hearing the despairing voice of his youngest son, Pei Ju sighed helplessly. He wasn’t planning on telling this truth to his sons as he always thought that his wife had now fully accepted him. After all, they had two sons and he had given her everything she wanted all these years.

First is greed and second is revenge. If it’s just greed then his father, Pei Ju, won’t need to hesitate this much. But if it’s the latter then, his father’s hesitation can be explained.
Pei Yun was the first one to break the silence and asked, "Does father’s poisoning have something to do with both mother and uncle? Is it something they had planned together?"
"Alright. Since you want to know then this old man is not going to hide anymore. The marriage between me and your mother is an arranged one by your deceased grandfather.
