Chapter 208: Chapter 208: Hundredfold Humiliation

Chapter 208: Hundredfold Humiliation

The crowd parted in the Silver Badge section, and a figure appeared before everyone’s eyes.

It was Navarre.

He stood tall, his handsome face twisted with hatred and deep-seated, venomous resentment.

He had just emerged from an intensive, grueling month-long closed-door seclusion.

For thirty days and thirty nights, he had done nothing but blindly cultivate, pouring every ounce of his will and sanity into mastering a newly acquired Epic-Grade wind-attribute movement art.

Because of this total isolation, Navarre was entirely ignorant of the earth-shattering events that had unfolded in the Inner Palace over the past week.

He hadn’t heard the whispers of the ten late-stage Violet Thunder Panthers being killed by Rhain.

He knew nothing of Braxton’s shattered arms, or the Astral Alliance’s dissolution.

All that had sustained him through thirty days and thirty nights of sleepless training was Rhain’s kick against his butt.

He could never forget the humiliation he suffered during the entrance trials, nor the burning jealousy he felt when he saw Rhain strolling through the restricted fourth floor of the Grand Library.

In Navarre’s mind, Rhain was nothing but a parasite—a weak, Essence Condensation fraud who had been handed a Gold Badge solely to curry favor with his Heavenly Physique wife.

And today, with the entire dynasty watching, Navarre intended to expose him.

Navarre raised his arm and pointed his finger directly at the dark-robed youth standing casually among the elites.

"I challenge the Gold Badge disciple, Rhain Voss!" Navarre shouted again.

Usually, during the Challenge Phase, a challenger would target the weakest link among the defenders to guarantee a victory.

By pointing his finger at Rhain, Navarre was publicly declaring to everyone that he viewed Rhain as the weakest of all Gold Badge disciples.

The reaction from the rest of the Inner Palace disciples was instantaneous and profound.

The other Silver Badge disciples standing close to Navarre collectively took a subtle half-step away from Navarre.

They looked at him with expressions of utter bewilderment and horror.

The Gold Badge disciples standing near Rhain exchanged glances that contained both pity and secondhand embarrassment.

Is he actually suicidal?

Did his brain melt during his seclusion?

Up on the stage, Seris also heard Navarre’s arrogant declaration, and looked at him as if she was looking at a clown.

Far across the plaza, in the Outer Palace section, Liana and Sylvan exchanged a blank look.

How could someone be so stupid?

Down in the arena, Rhain looked at Navarre.

As a Gold Badge defender, the rules of the contest dictated that he could not refuse a formal challenge.

He took a slow step forward.

BOOM!

The moment he moved, a heavy pressure crashed upon him.

Dozens of piercing gazes locked onto his figure simultaneously. It wasn’t just the hundred thousand ordinary spectators watching him.

The true titans of the city had their eyes fixed squarely on his back.

Patriarch Caelan, Patriarch Thorian, Matriarch Seraphine. Vice Dean Myrielle and Dean Carmilla. High Preceptor Aldren, Octavius, Krell, and Fabian.

And, leaning slightly forward on his velvet throne with a dangerous gleam in his amber eyes, Crown Prince Lucius.

Lucius’s amber eyes drifted down toward the arena, his gaze settling on the dark-robed youth standing calmly among the forty-nine elites.

’So that’s him,’ Lucius thought.

Every single person on the grand stage was now looking at him Rhain with looks of varying expressions, wanting to know what was so special about this Heavenly Physique girl’s husband.

Rhain knew the exact reason.

After Seris’s breathtaking presentation today, the veil of obscurity was gone.

It was impossible to hide his identity anymore.

Right now, all three noble families, the royal entourage, and the highest echelons of the Academy already knew he was the husband of the peerless fairy.

And with the vast intelligence networks at their disposal, it wouldn’t take them long to dig slightly deeper and connect the dots between him and the mysterious Grandmaster Korryn.

A cold sneer appeared on Rhain’s lips.

He couldn’t hide in the shadows anymore.

Continuing to hide his strength would now only do far more harm than good.

’You all want to watch a good show?’ Rhain thought with a chilling smile. ’Then I will let you watch.’

Rhain stepped fully into the center of the combat ring.

"The challenge has been issued and accepted," Octavius’s booming voice rang across the plaza. "Silver Badge disciple Navarre versus Gold Badge disciple Rhain Voss! Standard contest rules apply, the match concludes upon surrender, incapacitation, or ring-out!"

Octavius’s fierce eyes swept between the two combatants.

"Begin!"

The moment the command left Octavius’s lips, Navarre exploded into motion.

He drew upon every drop of his Level 3 Spirit Manifestation essence, his eyes burning with a sinister light.

Gale Mirage Stride!

A violent burst of compressed wind essence erupted beneath Navarre’s feet, propelling him forward with a speed that was genuinely impressive.

His figure blurred, splitting into three distinct afterimages that fanned out in a triangular formation.

Each afterimage was so perfectly rendered that even several of the Silver Badge disciples watching from the stands couldn’t immediately identify which one was the real body.

The three afterimages converged on Rhain from three angles simultaneously.

Navarre’s real body materialized at Rhain’s back.

His lips twisted into a vicious, triumphant sneer.

This was the moment he had dreamed about for thirty consecutive nights.

The moment he had rehearsed more than a thousand times until it was burned into his mind.

Today, he was going to inflict the exact same humiliation he had suffered, before the watchful eyes of the entire Solathane Dynasty, the top-tier dignitaries, and most importantly, before Rhain’s breathtaking fairy wife.

Navarre gloated inwardly. I will reduce you to such a pathetic, laughable state that your beautiful wife will be too ashamed to ever claim you as her husband again!

"Take this!" Navarre roared.

Up on the grand stage, the powerful dignitaries saw through Navarre’s little plan instantly.

A petty trick designed purely to shame his opponent.

Lucius’s lips curled into an amused, mocking smirk.

Seraphine, Thorian, and Caelan watched with narrowed eyes, eager to see how the heavenly physique’s husband would handle such a blatant insult.

Carmilla tilted her head with a playful glint in her eye, while Fabian, Krell, Aldren, Octavius, along with other High Preceptors, and Preceptors waited with different degrees of expectation.

But beside Myrielle, Seris’s sweet smile vanished.

Her pale purple eyes flashed with cold fury.

Even though she knew full well that this clown couldn’t even scratch a single hair on her husband’s head, the sheer disrespect of attempting such a filthy, humiliating move against the man she loved ignited a rage in her heart.

She looked at Navarre with an icy expression. If looks could kill, Navarre would have already died a thousand times.

Down in the arena, Navarre was now so close he could practically see his victory.

He could already vividly picture it in his mind: Rhain flying through the air, flailing helplessly, before crashing face-first onto the indestructible stone floor while a hundred thousand people roared with laughter.

A triumphant, ecstatic smile stretched across Navarre’s face as he thrust his leg forward with all his might.

I win!

But just as his foot was mere millimeters from connecting... his vision suddenly blurred.

The world tilted violently on its axis.

Huh? Navarre’s brain stuttered. Why does it feel so light? Why am I flying?

He didn’t have time to process the answer.

BANG!

The hard stone of the arena floor rushed up and smashed violently into his face.

His nose shattered with a crunch, and the taste of blood flooded his mouth as his teeth rattled against the pavement.

But the agony in his face was immediately eclipsed by something far worse.

At the exact same millisecond his face slammed into the ground, a searing pain exploded in his backside.

He had been kicked in the butt. Again.
