Chapter 292: Chapter 292
The room fell silent again. Every pair of eyes turned toward Suzy.
"...Are you serious?" Lucas stared at her, his brows knitting together even tighter. "Guns? Where would you even get guns?"
There was obvious skepticism in his voice. Not because he doubted Suzy herself, but because the idea simply sounded impossible.
Then something occurred to him––Leonard had used a pistol earlier.
Did that mean... They really had firearms?
But how?
Firearms were heavily restricted in their country; no civilian could ever obtain one. This wasn’t something you could casually get your hands on.
Maybe they’d been lucky enough to find abandoned weapons? That seemed like the only reasonable explanation.
Even so... At most, they would have one or two guns. What difference could that possibly make?
And even if they had firearms... Wouldn’t ammunition be an even bigger problem?
The more he thought about it, the more confused he became.
No matter how he looked at it, Suzy’s claim didn’t make sense.
Surely they couldn’t have an entire cache of guns... Along with enough bullets to use freely.
That was fantasy.
The thought made Lucas’s expression wonderfully complicated.
Aaron and the others remained quiet, but they clearly shared the same opinion.
Even if Suzy really had firearms... There couldn’t be more than one or two.
And what if the organization was armed as well?
Were they supposed to trade gunfire?
If the enemy had more ammunition, they would simply be overwhelmed once their own bullets ran dry.
No one took Suzy’s words too seriously. And Suzy offered no further explanation. Bracing herself against the armrest, she slowly rose to her feet. The wound in her left shoulder made every movement sluggish, but she refused anyone’s help.
She looked at Leonard, and a silent exchange only the two of them understood.
"I’m going home for a minute. I’ll be right back. Thomas, come with me."
Leonard opened his mouth as though he wanted to volunteer, but then quietly closed it again.
He already knew exactly what Suzy intended to do. He’d wanted to accompany her himself, but since she’d chosen Thomas... There was no reason to argue.
Thomas had already stepped to her side. Without another word, the two left the apartment.
Everyone watched them disappear into the hallway, completely baffled.
After the door closed behind them, Lucas exchanged puzzled looks with Aaron and the others.
"...Where are they going?"
Leonard glanced at him with a grin. "Suzy’s gone to get the guns. Oh, by the way... Do you all know how to use them?"
"...Get the guns?" Lucas widened his eyes. "So she really went to get guns?"
He had seriously underestimated the people living on the twentieth floor.
Not only did they possess firearms... They’d kept them hidden this whole time.
"Can you use them?" Leonard repeated. "If not, we can teach you."
Lucas waved dismissively. "Who can’t use a gun? We’ve all had military training."
He and the twins had even had their service overseas. They’d spent time at shooting ranges and had handled real firearms before. Using them now wouldn’t be difficult. Even Aaron had fired several guns during trips abroad.
They weren’t experts... But they certainly weren’t strangers to firearms.
Leonard’s eyes immediately lit up. "Perfect. That saves us a lot of trouble."
He rubbed his hands together excitedly. "Then everyone gets one. We’ll march straight into their headquarters."
Lucas frowned. "...There are enough guns for everyone?"
He still couldn’t believe it. Where could anyone possibly acquire that many firearms?
Finding one or two abandoned pistols would already be extraordinary.
Leonard already had one. They’d also recovered Chris’s pistol. Even adding another gun or two... Their combat strength would only improve slightly.
Besides... Ammunition was still the real issue.
Chris’s handgun only had three rounds left, it could only be used in an emergency.
Seeing the disbelief written all over his face, Leonard chuckled smugly.
"Just wait until Suzy gets back. You’ll see."
He could hardly suppress his grin.
He had seen Suzy’s arsenal, the one hidden inside her storage space. The memory still left him speechless. He’d nearly dropped his jaw the first time she’d shown him.
Even now, he had no idea where his niece had managed to obtain such an outrageous stockpile. It was honestly terrifying.
With that amount of weaponry... They could probably equip a small army.
Fortunately, Suzy had never shown any interest in building one.
Leonard certainly didn’t want anything to do with that. He was perfectly content living his quiet little retirement life.
Still... Those weapons had finally become useful.
While Lucas sat lost in thought, time quietly slipped by.
Less than ten minutes later... A knock sounded at the door.
Liam walked over and opened it. Suzy and Thomas had returned.
Thomas carried a heavy black duffel bag; its zipper was tightly closed, so no one could see what was inside.
Instantly, every gaze in the room shifted toward it.
The two walked into the living room. Suzy gave Thomas a small nod, and he set the bag down on the coffee table.
Thud.
The dull impact echoed through the room like a hammer striking everyone’s heart.
"...What’s in there?" Lucas stared fixedly at the black bag. His instincts screamed that it contained something extraordinary.
It was heavy. Heavy enough to resemble... Weapons.
Could it really be... Firearms?
"Guns," Suzy answered casually as she returned to the sofa and sat down.
Thomas crouched beside the bag and unzipped it with practiced efficiency.
One by one... He began laying its contents across the coffee table.
One handgun. Then another. A third.
Several spare magazines.
Multiple boxes of ammunition.
And finally... A compact short-barreled rifle.
The room remained completely silent.
Elijah stood frozen. His mouth hung open so wide he forgot to close it.
Lucas’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. Even Aaron, normally the calmest among them, couldn’t hide his surprise.
Only Thomas remained completely composed.
Suzy slowly swept her gaze across everyone’s stunned expressions. A satisfied smile tugged at her lips.
Yes. This was exactly the reaction she’d been expecting.
Leonard burst into laughter.
"I told you we had guns. You just refused to believe me."
"I..." Lucas pointed helplessly at the growing pile of firearms.
"You... You actually do... And so many!"
