Chapter 2327: Normal life
"How was work today?"
When I arrived home, Ariel came out to greet me.
Though this place wasn’t the palace of the Merman Kingdom.
This was a house that was in the middle of a normal neighbourhood of the capital, so it wasn’t anything special at all. It was just a house that any normal mermaid family would have lived in.
As for why we were here, it was because of my request.
"You want to take my daughter and grandson and live a normal life?"
The Merman King and Merman Queen naturally questioned me when I suggested this, but Ariel looked like she was completely on board with it.
This was a girl that swam all the way to the Kite Kingdom because she wanted to meet humans, so it only made sense that she would be attracted to something interesting like this.
Of course, the Merman King and Merman Queen had issues with this and it wasn’t as if they weren’t valid issues.
The biggest one was of course safety.
They were naturally worried about the safety of their only daughter and their only grandson. As well to a certain extent, they were worried about the safety of me as their son-in-law.
But it wasn’t as if they were really worried since they knew that I was more than powerful enough to take care of myself. The only one that they were really worried about was Ariel.
They weren’t even that worried about their grandson since they had seen the power that he possessed. As the one that was deemed the successor of Aquaron, it was only natural that my son would possess great power.
Though thinking about it now, the way that Aquaron had decided that my son would be his successor...
In a way, it was almost like an uncle looking out for his nephew.
If I were to tell anyone this, they certainly wouldn’t have believed it.
In the end, the only way that we were able to convince them to accept it was by setting up some guards for us. Though these guards would normally stay out of the way of our normal lives most of the time.
Even if it was a bit off putting having guards follow us around, it was still the only way to convince them that we would be safe. Of course, the other compromise was that they wouldn’t really leave the capital.
It wasn’t as if Ariel had any intentions of leaving the capital since she was just acting as a housewife.
I had already seen the way that she acted with the other housewives and it really seemed like she was suited for this. It didn’t take long for her to make friends among the other housewives and she was even generally accepted by the rest of them.
She had a personality that allowed her to be easily accepted in the first place, but this seemed a bit too fast.
Regardless, it was good to see that she was fitting in.
Raising the package from our team’s leader, I said, "I got something extra today."
Before I could even lower it, it was snatched out of my hands by Ariel.
She quickly opened it up and her eyes lit up when she saw the things that were inside. Though after that, there was a smug smile that appeared on her face as she slowly turned to look at me.
"The leader added that in without asking for my opinion, so there was nothing that I could do about it." I said awkwardly in response.
However, it didn’t seem like she believed me when I said this.
The way that she looked at me made it clear that she thought it was for a different reason that there were abalones in the pack.
"Well, it seems like we’ll have some fun tonight."
While Ariel said this, she looked at my tail.
A wry smile appeared on my face seeing this.
Since we had been here for a while already, I knew exactly what she thought about the tail.
I didn’t think that she would like it that much, but it was clear what her preferences were. There was a part of me that even wondered if it was because she wanted to be with another mermaid.
But Ariel had clearly explained that it was only because I was the one that possessed the tail that she acted this way.
When she started awkwardly telling me about the mermen that her parents had tried to set her up with previously, that was when I stopped her from trying to explain. It wasn’t as if this was something that I wanted to hear from my wife.
Instead of responding to this, I went over to one of the cabinets in the living room and pulled out a bottle.
Without any hesitation, I drank the contents of that bottle.
After drinking it, I looked down at my tail as if I was confirming something.
After all, this potion was the thing that was giving me the tail in the first place.
It wasn’t a potion that had been created by anyone, it was a potion that I had made with my creation divine energy. Which meant that it was a potion that didn’t exist in this world until now.
It was also because this potion was so special that the tail under me was completely real.
This was a potion that changed one down to their very genetics, so in terms of race, I had actually become a mermaid.
Only it wasn’t as if this was a permanent potion.
I didn’t want to permanently change my race, I just wanted to be a mermaid during the time that I lived in the Merman Kingdom. So that was why I made sure that this potion was only something temporary.
After drinking the potion, I checked the stock that I had since it wasn’t as if it was easy to make this potion. It was something that didn’t exist in this world before, so it took a decent amount of divine energy to create it.
