Chapter 2321: Standing among them
This place was actually a secret church.
It wasn’t as if it was a place that was illegal in the first place since the Holy Empire allowed free practice of religion. As long as it wasn’t a religion that engaged in harmful activities like taking the lives of others.
This certainly wasn’t a religion that would do something like that.
It was just that seeing the statue that was there really gave me a strange feeling.
This statue that they were all gathered around wasn’t a normal one since the subject of this statue was someone that was still alive. The person that this statue was of was still a human and living in the mortal world.
In fact, that person wasn’t even a demigod yet.
I knew this because it was a statue of me.
Seeing this statue, I couldn’t help touching my own face for a moment before thinking, "It’s not as handsome as me."
But the main thing was that it was a good thing that I had that illusion hiding my true appearance. If they were to see the real me, it certainly would have caused a large commotion.
For these people, to have the one that they were praying to standing in front of them like this...
I would even be worried about my own safety if they knew.
After entering the room with the priest that brought me, we were welcomed by the one that was standing at the front of the room. It wasn’t a welcome for us alone, it was a welcome for everyone that came.
They certainly knew how to raise the enthusiasm of a crowd with the way that they acted. Though looking closely, I could tell that it was more their own enthusiasm that was rubbing off on the others.
"When did I have such a fanatic follower?" I couldn’t help asking myself when I saw this.
There was a part of their appearance that seemed familiar, but I just wasn’t able to figure out where I had seen them before.
Regardless, it didn’t take long for everyone to settle down and the prayer to start.
When that happened, I could sense that something changed.
It was a familiar sensation, but it was much stronger than what I had felt before. It seemed that since I had unsealed my power, my connection to faith was also much stronger.
Though it might also be because I was right beside the ones that were praying to me.
With this proximity, the faith was directly coming to me instead of going to the statue at the front of the room.
Once that faith came to me, I could feel it being changed into divine energy.
With this sensation, I finally figured out what it was that was converting that faith into divine energy.
It was the very essence of what made a god a god.
It should be considered the law that a god mastered, which made up the very core of their being.
Once that faith gathered there, it was condensed into divine energy.
Though from the small amount of faith that I was gathering from this place, it wasn’t as if I was gathering that much. However, it was still a considerable amount even though faith was supposed to be a weaker form of energy.
"It’s fusion?"
This wasn’t something that I was able to figure out that easily, but I was still able to figure it out.
Once that faith came into the core of a god’s power, it actually clashed with the divine energy that was already there. It wasn’t a violent clash, it was more that everything was being condensed together to combine it.
Once it was combined, there was this release from this mass that released more divine energy than was put in.
As for how this was possible, that was something that I had no idea about.
No matter how I thought about it, it didn’t seem to make any sense.
But I didn’t let myself feel down since it wasn’t as if this was something that I had to figure out now. I had plenty of time to figure this out in the future.
For now, the only thing that mattered was figuring out this feeling that came from the faith of these people.
Once I had an idea of what this faith was like, I could start feeling other connections coming from all around me.
This wasn’t something that I had felt before, though I knew that it wasn’t because it didn’t exist. It was more that I had been completely unaware of all of these other connections that had been formed with me.
But now that I was aware, I naturally knew that these were all connections of faith.
I already knew about the statue that was in the capital of the Holy Empire. This was something that the popes had personally shown to me and had installed in the temple of the God of Creation.
Now that I knew the truth, I didn’t feel as bad about that statue that was there.
Out of all the connections, I could sense that this one was the strongest.
It only made sense since this was the one that was the strongest since it would have the most people praying in front of it.
However, it was also surprising how many connections there were out there.
It seemed like there were quite a few of these smaller statues that were scattered all over the place. They were most likely places just like this where there were small gatherings in front of statues like this.
It really was surprising that there would be so many of them since it wasn’t as if I was like any of the established gods.
I didn’t do enough that there would be this many people that would want to pray to me.
In fact, I was even confused why these people were praying to me in the first place.
After all, I was still technically a normal human...
