Chapter 2319: Drawing them in (7)

"It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other."

I didn’t say anything when they said this, but it was a fact that it had been a while since I had been at one of these meetings.

Since I started experiencing life, I hadn’t shown up in any of these meetings. I had left these meetings to the prime minister since he was more than capable of handling those meetings.

But there was a reason that I had attended this meeting today.

It was all because I was involved with the matter that was being discussed today, so I had no choice but to attend.

"So we’ve heard rumours that you’ve made a breakthrough."

Though they were being tactful about it, it didn’t seem like they were able to hold themselves back. The looks in their eyes were more than enough to show what they were thinking.

I wasn’t surprised either since it was the reason that I had come to this meeting in the first place.

After a moment of silence, I slowly gave a nod to confirm what they were asking.

When they saw this, their eyes lit up even more. Only they had learned to hold themselves back and not rush into this matter.

Instead of immediately asking me about this, it seemed like they were all waiting for someone else to speak first. They were even looking at each other as if they were urging each other to make the first move.

None of them seemed to want to make this first move since they didn’t want to be at a disadvantage.

Only before any of them could ask, I said, "It isn’t as great as you think it is. It’s only a minor bit of success."

Everyone immediately knitted their brows when they heard this.

Even those from the four empires and the other races couldn’t help knitting their brows since this was a matter that even affected them.

Without waiting for anyone to say anything, I just said, "The effects aren’t as fast as you’d want them and they won’t clear out everything. But given enough time, it should restore those places back to normal."

It would be a lie to say that they weren’t disappointed when they heard this.

The representatives from the larger countries didn’t seem as disappointed as those from smaller countries. It was those from the smaller countries that seemed like they were the most affected by all of this.

It only made sense that they would be the most affected.

After all, their countries were smaller and had less land to begin with.

They were the ones that were the most affected by the corruption energy destroying their lands. It also meant that they were the ones that cared the most if there was a way to restore that land.

At the very least, it meant that they would be able to return their people to the places that they had evacuated.

Larger countries wouldn’t suffer from this since they had plenty of land, but it was different for smaller countries.

I knew this as well, but there was a different reason that I was hesitating.

With a sigh, I said, "Other than this, there’s a side effect that happens if we restore the land."

Confused looks appeared on everyone’s face the moment that I said this.

I didn’t blame them for looking confused at this since this was something that I had suddenly sprung on them. Only there was a part of me that hesitated since it was something that would certainly be hard to say.

In the end, I just took a deep breath and said what I wanted to say, "It might draw in the forces of Destruction."

Everyone looked even more confused when they heard this as they had no idea how I came to this conclusion.

But if I was saying this at a time like this, they really had no choice but to take this seriously. After all, I wouldn’t say something like this just to joke around.

"It’s only a small portion of the forces of Destruction to be honest."

I knew that they would be even more confused if I said it like this, but I had to say it like this since that was just how it was.

The Apostles of Destruction weren’t completely harmonic.

There were still factions among the Apostles of Destruction, that was what I learned from the one that I interrogated. However, it wasn’t as if they split into factions because they were fighting for power.

It was more that they split into factions based on the level of fanaticism that they felt.

The faction that the Apostle of Destruction that led the attack on the reclaimed land was a part of was one of the more radical ones. They were a faction that were filled with people that were brain dead worshippers of the God of Destruction.

Because of that, they were offended when I tried to reclaim the land that had been destroyed by the corruption energy.

This Apostle of Destruction was the closest one and had come to destroy the one that dared dirty the land that had been purified. But it had kicked a steel wall when it tried to attack me.

However, there were still other Apostles of Destruction that were the same as this one.

If we were to start reclaiming the land, then there was no doubt that another Apostle of Destruction would come.

"Even if we don’t do anything, they will still come. What is there to fear now that we have the way to deal with them?"

I was surprised that these representatives would have the courage to say something like this.

But I could tell that they weren’t just doing this for their greed.

The ones that said this were truly being forced into a corner.

Even if they joined the racial alliance and received aid, it wasn’t as if this was enough to solve the root of their problems.

They were still suffering because their lands had been completely destroyed by the corruption energy.

With a sigh, I said, "We’ll look into providing this aid as soon as possible, but we’ll need to gather a squad to protect the ones that reclaim the land."

No one was against this suggestion in the end.
