Right now, it’s indeed hot weather, and logically not a good time to plant vegetables, yet it’s not impossible. She went and bought seeds for leafy vegetables like lettuce, coriander, bok choy, and also bought long bean seeds. This season, they can still be planted, but tomatoes and cucumbers are not timely.
After Cai Yuan left, she tidied up the kitchen, saw there was still time, and cleaned every corner inside and outside the house. The master trusts her a lot, didn’t say the upstairs doesn’t need cleaning, so naturally she wouldn’t touch anything of theirs, after all, the house is loaded with surveillance, both invisible and visible. Though it feels a bit disrespectful, that’s how this line of work is. If she hired a nanny herself, it would probably be the same.

The old man and Old Lady are both nearly seventy years old, their health isn’t great, and they don’t like going out; at most, they will move around the garden.

Noon, only the four of them are having lunch. Before officially starting work, she had gone through a physical exam. Every noon she eats here. She brought her own personal bowl and chopsticks, never intended to sit with them at the table, even when eating she only eats vegetarian dishes, never touches meat dishes. Each time before serving the meal, there would be some vegetables left in the pot. "My daughter-in-law said, why don’t you eat with us? The previous nanny ate with us too; you don’t have to be like this."

Old Lady naturally understood this. She could eat vegetable dishes in the kitchen since they’re the ones left in the pot, clean ones, but if they came from the dining table, she wouldn’t accept it.
Moreover, she just eats a bowl of rice, a serving of vegetables per meal; people can’t really find fault, so they just let her be.
Lunch consisted of rice, stir-fried dishes such as sweet and sour pork and Pine Nut Corn, braised pork and Cold Mixed Fungus which are easier for the elderly to chew, and nori egg drop soup, four dishes and one soup, enough for them.
However, the two kids were a bit picky, the elderly wanted to feed them, but Qi Qi stopped them.
"Uncle, Auntie, don’t worry about them. If they’re not eating, they aren’t hungry. When they’re hungry, they’ll naturally come and eat. I’ll pack up the dishes later, and I’ll heat them up when they want to eat. Also, try not to bring snacks into the house; children are easily attracted, and then they won’t want to eat proper meals."
"How can that be okay, fresh meals after two or three hours can breed bacteria, and the children could get sick from it."
Qi Qi calmly said, "They won’t wait two or three hours, I’m not arguing with Auntie, autonomous eating is more meaningful than chasing after them to feed. Kids are energetic, they don’t like being controlled. We provide them the greatest freedom when they play, less chatter, less regulation, but when it’s time to eat, there should be some discipline. The condition is based on not eating snacks or drinking soft drinks. Habits we’ll gradually help them adjust, not a day’s work to become an expert feeder, right?
