Chapter 1527: Chapter 1603: Inheritance of Assets
"Miss Sheng Ning, this is Lawyer Bruno Beardsley." Housekeeper Xing led Sheng Ning into the conference room, where a man of about fifty looked like he had already been waiting for quite some time.
Beside her stood Feng Xintong, wearing a sleeveless little dress; with the pretense of weakness gone, her beauty really was so striking that one couldn’t look away.
At least while waiting for Sheng Ning and Housekeeper Xing, Lawyer Bruno Beardsley hadn’t felt bored at all. He was completely captivated by Feng Xintong; this girl was simply too beautiful.
Sheng Ning’s gaze slid off Feng Xintong without a trace, then she gave Housekeeper Xing a pointed look before smiling and greeting, "Hello."
"Hello, beautiful Miss Sheng Ning, I’m very glad to be of service to you." Lawyer Bruno beamed, and very professionally pulled a thick stack of documents from his briefcase.
It looked at least as thick as a Xinhua Dictionary, and the leather briefcase was bulging out of shape.
"What is this?"
"This is the asset inventory I spent a week compiling. It includes stocks, funds, real estate, diamonds, jewelry, antiques, artworks, and so on..."
Sheng Ning’s eyes widened. This much was all asset inventory? Only now did she truly grasp what it meant to be a super‑rich tycoon.
Housekeeper Xing added, "And this is only part of it. There’s another portion that Sir will hand to you personally."
Sheng Ning understood. It was like how some companies keep two sets of books, an external account and an internal one. What the lawyer was giving her was the external account, just for the M‑country government to see. What her grand‑uncle would give her was the core of the Feng Family, the true wealth passed down for a hundred years.
Looking at the pile of documents like a small mountain, Feng Xintong’s mind shook, waves surging in her chest. This wealth was originally hers; everything would be hers.
"Miss Sheng Ning, please take a look. If there’s no problem, you can sign."
"I have to sign all of them?" Sheng Ning suddenly felt her hand ache.
"Yes, you have to sign all of them."
"You’ve worked hard."
Housekeeper Xing suddenly felt a bit like laughing. Teasing her in Mandarin, he said, "Well? Sometimes having too much wealth is a tiring thing, isn’t it?"
"In the end, it’s all just numbers." Sheng Ning glanced over, then sat down and began quickly skimming and signing.
For now, Housekeeper Xing could be trusted; nothing under his charge would go wrong.
"Lady Xintong, stay here with Sheng Ning. I’ll go pour you both some water." After Housekeeper Xing spoke, he exchanged a look with the lawyer, and the two of them went out together.
With this many documents to sign, there was no way to finish in less than half a day. Better to let Miss Sheng Ning slowly sign first; once she was done, Housekeeper Xing could act as notary and handle the formalities together with the lawyer.
For a moment the conference room held only Sheng Ning and Feng Xintong. Sheng Ning’s pen moved swiftly over the paper, making a rustling sound. Partway through, Housekeeper Xing came in with tea, first placing a cup in front of Seng Ning, then giving another to Feng Xintong.
"Thank you, Housekeeper Xing." Feng Xintong was overwhelmed with excitement. Everyone knew what weight Housekeeper Xing carried in the Feng Family; the only person he personally served tea and water to was Grandfather.
Even the former Feng Zhenzhen had never enjoyed this treatment.
Sheng Ning calmly went on signing, not sharing her excitement in the slightest. This made Feng Xintong feel insulted all over again. Was she trying to show how noble she was? That she could look down on Housekeeper Xing while she herself was thrilled?
Put side by side like this, she suddenly seemed very lowly.
