Chapter 364: Chapter 364: Walk with You
Su Wanxin couldn’t refute and just nodded, looking out of the car window at the rare scene of heavy snowfall.
In her memory, it had been a long time since the Imperial Capital had seen such heavy snow. When she returned a few months ago, it was the hot summer of August, but now, Christmas was just around the corner.
Su Wanxin pursed her lips into a smile, happy that she had managed to live a few more months unintentionally.
With her health condition, living one more day was a bonus.
"What would you like to eat?" Mu Xinghan glanced at her and asked softly.
"Hot pot." Su Wanxin replied without hesitation; this weather was perfect for hot pot.
"I thought as much."
Mu Xinghan smiled, knowing her special fondness for hot pot, especially tomato broth which was her favorite.
After driving for a while, Mu Xinghan took a thoughtful glance in the rearview mirror.
They were following rather closely.
Someone was trailing him in a car; he knew, and so did Su Wanxin.
Lin Rui was right behind them, and probably had already called Fu Shihan to snitch by now.
The car pulled up in front of a hot pot restaurant with many people lining up outside. Mu Xinghan parked and led her inside; he had wisely booked a table in advance.
"You had already decided on what to eat, why bother asking me?"
Su Wanxin sat down, shaking off her coat and frowning slightly. Mu Xinghan raised an eyebrow and gave a roguish smile, "Just killing time."
He was always like that; Su Wanxin couldn’t help but sigh and began to look seriously at the menu.
The restaurant was crowded, but the service was fast. It wasn’t long before the two of them started eating.
Su Wanxin hadn’t eaten much at noon and was really hungry; only after she had earnestly filled her stomach did she take a deep breath of satisfaction, as if she hadn’t eaten for days.
She looked up at Mu Xinghan, who was sitting across from her; he seemed to have been watching her for a while, his smile making her slightly embarrassed.
"Take your time, we can order more if it’s not enough."
"...Are you feeding a pig?" Su Wanxin rolled her eyes at him and leaned back in her chair, asking, "Where have you been these last few days? Haven’t heard from you since the bar that night."
"A bit of business, went to Yan Province for a trip, just got back today."
Mu Xinghan casually continued to eat, pausing briefly before adding,
"This time, it’s related to you."
"Me?" Su Wanxin was surprised. "What happened to me?"
"I heard from Xiao Yu that you’re planning to leave next month, going abroad?"
"...Yeah." Su Wanxin nodded; she had indeed been planning to do so.
"Is everything arranged over there?"
"Pretty much, there isn’t much to arrange really, I’ve applied to a school and just need to go there when they notify me."
"I’ll go with you."
Mu Xinghan’s words were startling, and Su Wanxin was taken aback for a moment, suddenly recalling the warning Fu Shihan had growled in her ear before, suggesting that Mu Xinghan had ulterior motives towards her.
She lowered her eyelashes and said nothing.
Having known Mu Xinghan for quite a while now, she had to admit, he had always been very good to her.
It was him who had saved her life in the beginning, and for these years, it had been him and Mu Suyu keeping her safe.
She was still wearing the amulet he gave her, which he jovially claimed was a family heirloom when he first gave it to her; Su Wanxin thought he was just joking—after all, family heirlooms aren’t so easily handed out for others to use.
But now...
She was uncertain.
She had always thought that Mu Xinghan’s kindness was based on financial exchange; she considered herself a very generous employer, giving him quite a substantial amount of money.
But if what Fu Shihan said was true, then this matter had to be clarified.
