Chapter 194: Chapter 184: If You Want to Hold a Great-Grandchild 2
Elliot hummed in agreement. Georgia turned her gaze back to the gravestone. "Mom, this is your son-in-law, Elliot Sheridan! Isn’t he handsome? Your daughter’s pretty accomplished, right!"
Elliot Sheridan was indeed outstanding. Being able to marry him was something countless women could only dream of.
Elliot wrapped an arm around Georgia’s shoulder, his expression serious. "Mom, you can rest easy. From now on, I’ll take care of Georgia."
Georgia was an emotional person. Ever since her mother passed away, she hadn’t had anyone to protect her.
Hearing Elliot personally promise her mother that he would take care of her for the rest of her life, she was overcome with emotion and burst into tears.
"What are you crying for? Today is our wedding day. You should be smiling."
"I just can’t help it." Georgia wiped her tears. After standing there for a while longer, the two of them left.
After getting married, it was only natural that they should live together.
Elliot wanted Georgia to move out of her apartment and bring everything to his place. Or she could just show up herself; she didn’t need to bring a thing.
Georgia adamantly refused to move into his place.
"If I leave, what about Nancy Hughes? She hasn’t found a new roommate. Am I supposed to just let her live alone?"
"Then what about me? You’d really abandon your newlywed husband to go live with another woman?"
"That’s different!"
"How is it different!"
"It just is! Nancy is a girl. It might be dangerous for her to live alone. It’s better if I’m there with her. You’re a grown man, you have nothing to be afraid of!"
The security at his high-end residential complex had always been thorough; anyone entering or leaving had to be registered.
Elliot’s face was taut. ’Before the wedding, I was less important than a cat. Now that we’re married, I’m less important than her roommate.’
"We got married so suddenly, I haven’t even told her yet. I’m afraid she won’t be able to accept it right away." Before, when she had suddenly announced she was marrying Zane Lennox, Nancy had freaked out for a good while.
Elliot angrily pressed his lips into a thin line, the veins on the back of his hand bulging as it rested on the steering wheel.
There was no real difference before and after the wedding.
Elliot stopped the car in front of Georgia’s apartment building. Georgia mumbled an awkward goodbye and quickly got out.
The moment she closed her door, a loud SLAM came from behind her as another door was shut forcefully.
It startled her. She turned around to see Elliot storming toward her.
"Um, you..."
Elliot walked straight into the apartment building, and Georgia hurriedly followed.
"Open the door!" Elliot turned and looked at her.
’Acting like he owns the place,’ Georgia thought as she hurriedly took the keys from her bag and opened the door.
Nancy wasn’t back from work yet. Georgia took a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet. "Do you want some water?"
Just as Georgia was about to enter the kitchen, his arm wrapped around her from behind.
He embraced her waist, his hot breath brushing against the back of her ear. "I am a little thirsty, but it’s not a thirst water can quench."
The back of Georgia’s ears burned. She tried to push away the arms clamped tightly around her waist. "Let me go! Nancy will be back soon!"
"Georgia, we’re a legally married couple, not having an illicit affair, you know?"
She felt his hand give her waist a squeeze, sending a ticklish, tingling sensation through her. She quickly grabbed his large hand. "I know, now let me go!"
Georgia felt that the only effect of them getting their marriage license was giving Elliot a perfectly valid excuse to openly flirt with her.
Elliot simply swept her up into his arms, bridal style, and carried her to the bedroom.
"Elliot, what do you think you’re doing!"
"This is our wedding night! What else do you think I’d be doing?"
Georgia was speechless.
’It’s not even dark out yet, and Nancy will be home any minute!’
Georgia struggled in Elliot’s arms. The sleeping Blue heard the commotion, opened its eyes, and looked toward the two people at the bedroom door.
As a cat, Blue had always been hostile toward Elliot, though for some unknown reason.
Perhaps it was the cat’s possessiveness at work—just like the man, Elliot, it believed Georgia belonged only to it and that no one else was allowed to touch her.
Elliot heard the cat’s meow, glanced back at Blue running toward him, shot it a cold look, and slammed the door shut.
Blue rubbed its body back and forth against the door, meowing and meowing, as if trying to get the two people inside to come out.
"Hey, Elliot... you..."
He placed Georgia on the bed and immediately lowered himself onto her, but he didn’t do anything inappropriate.
He slid a long arm under her, wrapping it around to rest his palm on her stomach. A raspy male voice sounded from beside her ear, "Let me hold you for a bit. I didn’t sleep at all last night."
’After Georgia proposed to me yesterday, I was in a state of exhilaration, but at the same time, I was afraid I’d wake up to find she had changed her mind.’
’I was up all night, thinking about so many things.’
’I had to marry Georgia. I couldn’t stand the thought of watching her in another man’s arms; it was driving me crazy.’
’Marrying Georgia meant all my future plans would have to change. I thought about it all night.’
’Never has holding Georgia felt as grounding as it does right now.’
"You didn’t sleep all night? Why?" Sensing that Elliot really wasn’t going to try anything, Georgia turned over to face him, craning her neck to look at him curiously.
’Don’t tell me he was too excited to sleep.’
Elliot just hummed in response, then changed the subject. "I never did anything to Zane Lennox’s company."
The topic changed so abruptly that Georgia’s mind couldn’t keep up.
She was stunned for a moment before she said, "But you admitted it last time, didn’t you? And the documents Zachary Lennox showed me, that was also you..."
"I only said that because you made me angry." Elliot gritted his teeth, then nipped Georgia’s soft ear. "If I were really going after Zane Lennox, do you think I’d show any mercy?"
Georgia was speechless.
’Given his temper, it’s true that showing mercy wasn’t his style.’
"As for that old goat Zachary Lennox, I did meet with him twice. I told him his son should be more careful about who he marries. Nothing else happened!"
Georgia’s ear was burning. She pushed his mouth away and covered her ear with her palm. "I believe you!"
When it came to things like this, Georgia did trust Elliot.
"Then Zane Lennox’s disappearance... you really don’t know where he is?"
"I don’t!" Elliot didn’t like hearing another man’s name come out of Georgia’s mouth. He opened his mouth and bit her palm. "Don’t mention him again!"
...
On the narrow bed, Elliot was practically lying on top of Georgia. He held her comfortably and let out a contented sigh.
Georgia couldn’t sleep. Nestled in his arms, she unabashedly studied him.
’I still can’t process it—we really went and got married.’
Staring blankly at his handsome face, she suddenly remembered something important. ’He hasn’t bought me a wedding ring yet!’
’No ring, nothing. I’ve just become Mrs. Sheridan in a complete daze.’
Elliot wasn’t actually asleep. Lying there with his eyes closed, he started to feel his irritation rise. He opened his eyes. "How did you propose to Zane Lennox? The day you two took your wedding photos, did he take advantage of you? And since you knew Zane wasn’t going to show up, why did you wait for him from morning until night!"
Just thinking about these things soured Elliot’s mood.
’I’m not the first man she’s proposed to. She even took wedding photos with Zane Lennox; I’ve seen the pictures.’
Georgia sullenly buried her face in Elliot’s chest. "..."
’Who was it that just warned me not to mention Zane Lennox?’
"Spit it out!"
"It wasn’t much of a proposal. I just said it offhandedly, and he agreed."
The words had barely left her mouth when a certain man’s face darkened. "So when you proposed to me, was that just offhanded, too?"
"Of course not!" Georgia hurriedly denied.
’Even if it was, I wouldn’t dare admit it now.’
Georgia reached out and hugged Elliot. "I actually gave it a lot of thought. After thinking it over and over, I realized it had to be you!"
Elliot snorted, his brow furrowed in clear displeasure.
’What a difficult man. I’m never having a son, especially not one with a temper like his.’
Georgia soothed him in a soft voice. The man’s temper was as moody and unpredictable as a cat’s.
Elliot held Georgia close, caressing her for a while before his hands started to roam. He pushed the red dress she was wearing high up her legs.
"Elliot, didn’t you say you were just going to sleep!" Exasperated, Georgia opened her mouth and bit his wrist.
’I really can’t believe a word he says.’
"I’m a little angry!"
Elliot rubbed his wrist, then used the momentum to cup Georgia’s jaw, tilting her head up to capture her red lips with his.
’Honestly!’
The comfortable air conditioning was on in the room. Georgia lay in his arms and drifted off to sleep before she knew it.
The two of them slept in the room until it was dark.
Nancy didn’t have a date with Dylan Heston tonight, so she came straight home after work.
Seeing a pair of men’s leather shoes by the door, she froze for a second, then looked into the apartment. ’Whose shoes are these?’
’Did Georgia actually bring a man home?’
’It can’t be Zane Lennox, can it?!’
Nancy walked into the living room and found that Blue wasn’t asleep in its cozy little bed but was lying in front of Georgia’s bedroom door.
She walked over, squatted down, and picked up the fat cat. "Little fatty, whisper and tell me, which strange man did your mommy bring home?"
Blue was unhappy with Nancy calling it "little fatty." It let out a MEOW and kicked at Nancy’s arm with its hind legs.
"If you dare struggle again, I’ll cut you off from your little dried fish snacks, believe it or not! I’ve been taking care of this cat’s every need for the last half-year for nothing."
After teasing the cat for a bit, Nancy let it go.
Then she stood up and knocked on the door. She had barely knocked once when the door opened from the inside.
The "strange man" Georgia had brought home completely stunned Nancy. Her legs wouldn’t move, and she couldn’t control her expression; her face was incredibly stiff.
She asked weakly, "President, what are you doing here?"
"She’s still sleeping. Don’t disturb her."
"Oh, okay!" Nancy nodded repeatedly, completely obedient.
’Elliot came out of Georgia’s room, and with those suggestive words he just said... can I assume Georgia and Elliot are back together?’
’Good grief, their relationship is a real roller coaster, full of constant ups and downs.’
