Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Be Prepared
Crying for help?
And from Gavin Donovan?
Faye Yardley immediately sent a call request, but it was quickly declined. A message followed.
"Boss, I ran into my second senior brother out at sea. I was really happy about it at first, but he’s been acting strange ever since he boarded my raft. He keeps insisting that I merge my raft with his. The problem is, not only does he want to be the primary controller, but the permissions he offered me are basically nonexistent. Crying.jpg"
Faye Yardley: "Your second senior brother is offering such harsh terms? Does your first senior brother know about this?"
"He knows, but he’s too far away and can’t do anything. He told me not to agree. But if I don’t, my second senior brother won’t leave my raft."
Faye Yardley knew a raft owner could forcibly expel someone from their vessel. But the two of them were fellow disciples, after all, and their rafts were close to each other. If they had a real falling out, they’d likely end up fighting over the smallest provocation.
Besides, given how his second senior brother was behaving, he would almost certainly try to sabotage Gavin during certain events.
That would make the already difficult survival game even harder.
After a moment’s thought, she said, "Gavin Donovan, you know about the Mercenary Companies in our region. You’re very capable, so I’m sure both Mr. Pierce’s team and my brother’s would be happy to have you.
Contact them first and see what terms they offer. Once you choose a team to join, you can move your raft to a spot near their main vessel.
You can tell your second senior brother to go back for now, that you’ll think it over tonight and give him an answer first thing in the morning. Anyway, he can’t see your screen, so he won’t know what you’re really doing."
"Okay, thank you, Boss."
Faye Yardley then called her brother. He was available this time and answered instantly. She explained Gavin Donovan’s situation and reminded him that the Otherkin might be arriving soon.
So many had registered for The New World; there must be something here that they wanted.
But what did this new world have to offer?
Especially one that was just a world of rafts floating on the ocean.
Faye Yardley couldn’t figure it out. But that didn’t stop her from doing everything she could to increase her own power and prepare for the unknown risks ahead.
Her attention returned to the group chat, where she found many speculations about Gavin Donovan’s cry for help.
Meanwhile, in the regional channel, Zachary Pierce and his group had already issued a disaster warning to everyone in the region.
It wasn’t clear what exactly would happen, so they could only encourage everyone to fish for as many treasure chests as possible while also diligently training their bodies.
They also clearly explained the strategy for Dungeon 1, its rewards, and how to redeem points, trying to ensure no one suffered unnecessary losses.
Dungeon 1 was about killing zombies. Those who were brave and careful, or just lucky, could still go in and take a gamble. After all, you could find guns and ammunition inside the Dungeon, and you could bring out whatever you didn’t use.
For point exchange, they encouraged prioritizing the Body Refining Pill and wood. Other items could be exchanged according to individual needs.
These messages were all upvoted and pinned in the important messages section.
As for those who stubbornly refused to listen, well, that was their choice. The goal wasn’t to save every single person, but to save as many as they could.
Faye Yardley then checked the trading market. No one had responded to her purchase request yet. ’How annoying,’ she thought.
Remembering she still had a crafting blueprint for Crossbow Arrows, Faye Yardley weighed her options for a moment before calling Zachary Pierce.
"Yardley, thanks for the heads-up. How was your island trip?"
Faye Yardley smiled and brandished the blueprint. "It went very well. See? This is the next piece of business I wanted to discuss with you. It’s a crafting blueprint for Crossbow Arrows. I’ll give you three Bow and Crossbows, along with this blueprint. In return, you provide me with a certain quantity of Crossbow Arrows every month, free of charge."
Zachary Pierce’s eyes lit up. He knew that some people had the Woodworking Expertise Talent and could make things with simple tools. They could naturally make Crossbows too, they just weren’t as durable or effective as the ones provided by the system.
"Deal. I was just about to ask if you wanted to tackle Dungeon 3 with us. Our production workshops are falling behind. There should be blueprints to redeem in there, right? I’m afraid even if we fully clear Dungeon 1, we still might not gather enough points."
"Mr. Pierce, you already have an Invitation Card for Dungeon 3?"
"Yes. You mentioned last time that our progress in the Dungeon would be saved, right? Want to go together this time?" Zachary Pierce sounded a bit awkward saying this. In truth, they had organized other teams to run it since then, but none of them had reaped rewards anywhere near as high as when they’d gone with her.
No matter how they looked at it, the biggest difference had been the team leader: Faye Yardley.
They all guessed that her Luck Value was truly very high, perhaps even high enough to boost the entire team’s.
Faye Yardley noticed Zachary Pierce’s odd expression. "Sure," she said. "We might as well run the Dungeon before the new event kicks off. By the way, has Mr. Colby recovered?"
"He’s mostly recovered now. It shouldn’t be a big problem for him to go. Are you planning on using all the original team members?"
"Yes. But it’s fine if they’re not available. Have you been back in, Mr. Pierce?"
"We went, but the Dungeon starts you back at the very beginning."
"Exactly the same?"
Zachary Pierce shook his head. "There are changes, but not major ones."
Faye Yardley nodded. "I see. In that case, Mr. Pierce, give me the Invitation Card for Dungeon 3. I’ll use it once everyone is ready. We probably won’t be able to leave until early tomorrow morning, though. It’s best to get a good night’s sleep today."
With that, she sent the items to Zachary Pierce and received his Invitation Card in return.
Faye Yardley actually had a card of her own. ’But if I can use someone else’s, why be frugal on their behalf?’
Downstairs, Willow Yardley had already prepared dinner. Pointing to a small basket of fresh strawberries, she said, "Faye, we had a bumper crop of strawberries in the planting room! Come try one, they’re incredibly sweet."
"Okay, I’ll try one." Faye Yardley walked over and picked one up. Each one was the size of a baby’s fist. She took a bite and indeed, the taste was excellent. After eating three in a row, she asked, "Did we harvest a lot of strawberries?"
"Yes. We harvested about a hundred pounds in total."
Faye Yardley then dropped twenty strawberries into the group chat as a luck-based Red Envelope.
She was met with a flood of "Thank you, Boss!" and "The boss is so generous!"
She also sent a ten-pound batch to her brother.
She planned to keep the rest for herself, or perhaps trade them on the market for any strange and rare items others might have unboxed.
Knowing that Gavin Donovan had ultimately chosen her brother’s team, Faye Yardley was happy. The more experts on her brother’s team, the greater their chances of survival would naturally be.
So, she sent Gavin Donovan a private gift of 10 strawberries to congratulate him on joining the team.
At the same time, she told him they were going to Dungeon 3 early the next morning, so he should prepare and resolve any outstanding issues as soon as possible.
「Early the next morning」
After confirming that all five members were ready, Faye Yardley took out the Invitation Card for Dungeon 3 and activated it.
[Dungeon 3 Invitation Card (5/5) has been confirmed by all members. System activating. Commencing ten-second countdown: 10, 9... 2, 1.]
