Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Smart Butler Robot, Willow Yardley
Faye Yardley grimaced in pain. ’To think a great King of Luck like me doesn’t even have any painkillers,’ she thought. ’I’m worse off than someone with the worst luck.’
But she didn’t dare linger. Enduring the pain, she stumbled her way back.
When she got back to the lake, she found a large, flat stone and immediately collapsed onto it.
Then, she took out her special fishing rod and cast the line.
She figured she was in no condition to explore the forest, but she could still fish.
’Can’t waste time.’
[Acquired Talent Stone x1]
[Acquired Mysterious Fish x2]
[Acquired Lost Silver Coin x1]
[Acquired Island Lord Invitation Card x1]
Huh?
’What’s an Island Lord Invitation Card?’
She held the exquisite card, turning it over and over. Only after she opened it did a system prompt appear: [Congratulations, Player, you have received an Invitation Card from the Island Lord of Isle 98. He will be hosting a banquet in 15 days, which you may attend with this card. Friendly Reminder: Please prepare a suitable gift to increase the Island Lord’s favor toward his guests.]
"So an NPC is hosting a banquet... Unlike this island, Isle 98 has an owner. What would be a suitable gift?"
Unfortunately, the system offered no further hints.
Faye Yardley put the Invitation Card away. ’This is definitely a great opportunity,’ she thought. ’I can’t miss it!’
’As for the gift, maybe the Mysterious Fish I caught in this lake would be appropriate.’
’After all, they’re all things from this lake.’
Seeing that her time on the island was running out, Faye Yardley stood, put away her fishing rod, and ran toward the pier.
There was no need to worry about getting lost. The system wasn’t entirely heartless; at the very least, the path she had taken lit up as a line on the dark map.
All she had to do was follow the line back.
She finally made it to the pier with five minutes to spare and, without a second thought, leaped onto her raft.
Sitting directly on the raft’s deck, Faye Yardley finally noticed how fast her heart was pounding.
It was 2:30 in the afternoon, but she couldn’t feel a single trace of warmth.
She looked up at the sun, still high in the sky. It was incandescent, but gave off no comforting heat.
Besides, she felt a pressing need to leave this island.
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, the raft began to move on its own, slowly pulling away from the dilapidated pier.
As the raft departed, the island was gradually shrouded in mist.
Soon, it was completely obscured from view.
Once the raft cleared the fog bank, all trace of Isle 1004 vanished before Faye Yardley’s eyes. Even the obscuring mist was gone, replaced by an endless, azure ocean dotted with chunks of floating ice.
Faye Yardley murmured, "How magical. But... hehe, I still have one more Island Landing Order."
There was almost no danger this time; it felt like landing on the island was a special bonus.
Of course, it would have been perfect if she could ignore all the cuts and scrapes on her body.
"Oh, I still have a Silver Treasure Box to open! No, no, I’m too grubby right now. It’ll mess with my luck."
She scrambled up, rushed into her cabin for a quick rinse-off, and emerged feeling refreshed. With her long hair down, the cuts on her face weren’t as noticeable.
"Spirits of heaven and earth, bless me, System Daddy! Open!"
[Acquired Butler-Type Intelligent Robot x1, Arrow Tower Blueprint x1, Energy Protection Tower Blueprint x1]
Talent Triggered: Double Good Luck. All acquired items have been doubled.
"AHHH!! I’ve struck it rich! I’m rich!"
Faye Yardley was so excited she could have jumped for joy.
"System Daddy, I’ll never call you stingy again! You’re the most generous dad ever!"
Three intelligent butlers! This sudden windfall made her so ecstatic she didn’t know what to do with herself.
She took one out, and it looked exactly like a real person.
[Confirm use of Butler-Type Intelligent Robot?]
"Yes."
[Please give it a name and select a Gender.]
"Willow Yardley, female."
[Name set. Gender confirmed. Master-servant protocols registered. Butler-Type Intelligent Robot Willow Yardley is now bound to Faye Yardley’s raft. Please explore her functions on your own.]
The moment the system’s tone faded, the robot before her came to life. She blinked, offered a perfect smile, and spoke in a gentle voice, "Master, Willow Yardley is at your service."
"Ah, you don’t have to call me Master. Call me Sister."
"Understood, Sister. Willow is at your service."
Faye Yardley studied her for a long moment before asking, "Since you’re intelligent, you must have your own consciousness, right? Can you live with me like family? Do you need a separate room?"
"I can, Sister. I am very happy that you’re willing to treat me as family. And no, I do not require a separate room."
Even though she said she didn’t need one, Faye Yardley decided she wouldn’t let anyone know Willow was a robot. After all, she looked completely human.
She decided to move her training equipment, setting it up in a corner of the living room instead.
As for a bed and other furniture, she could always find some on the trading market.
"By the way, Willow, do you know how to fish?"
"I do, Sister. If you give me a fishing rod, I can take charge of the fishing. You can leave all the chores on the raft to me, like tending to the crops in the planters and preparing your meals."
"Okay, thank you. I’ll have to trouble you to start fishing, then." Faye Yardley took out a fishing rod and handed it to her, then asked, "By the way, do you need some kind of energy to function?"
Willow Yardley gave a sly smile. "Nope. As long as you’re here, Sister, I’ll be here."
However, she only accepted the system-gifted fishing rod, explaining, "Sister, I can’t use this special fishing rod. Even if I tried, I wouldn’t be able to catch anything with it."
"Huh? Oh, so there’s a restriction like that. Okay, I get it."
Willow Yardley went to go fish, and Faye Yardley decided to prepare a room for her.
’She’s a girl, after all,’ Faye mused. ’Flowery curtains, a comfortable bed, a little table, a bouquet of pretty flowers...’
’Wow, it feels so good not having to fish anymore.’
’It’s a shame only I can use the special fishing rod, but at least I won’t be bored while fishing anymore now that I have company.’
Faye Yardley happily took out the other two blueprints.
The Arrow Tower Blueprint could be registered with her workbench for repeated crafting, but the Energy Protection Tower Blueprint was single-use.
She first registered one of the Arrow Tower Blueprints with her workbench.
The materials for an Arrow Tower were relatively simple: 1,000 wood, 500 iron blocks, and 200 copper.
She had all the materials, so she immediately crafted four Arrow Towers and placed them on the four corners of her raft.
Just like that, her raft now had offensive capabilities.
As she finished placing the Arrow Towers, Willow Yardley, who was fishing outside, broke into a faint smile.
"I’ve never even seen the Energy Stones required for the Energy Protection Tower. I guess I’ll just have to store the blueprint in my warehouse for now." Faye Yardley felt it was a shame, but having it was better than not. At least now she knew what to look for and wouldn’t miss the chance if she ever found some.
After some thought, she posted a buy order for Energy Stones on the trading market. ’What if someone’s already found some and wants to trade for something they need?’
