Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Is This Exciting?

It was already late. The night wind made the alcohol go to her head, so Faye Yardley simply turned around, went back to her room, and fell asleep.

No matter how late she went to bed, her internal clock always woke her at 4 AM sharp.

She followed her usual routine: stretching, a session in the training room, a shower, and then practicing the Health Care Scripture. By the time she finished the entire sequence, it was already 8 AM on the dot.

"Faye, you must be starving. Hurry and eat breakfast."

"Mm. Is it really going to cool down today? Look at those dark, heavy clouds. It looks like it’s about to rain any second."

Faye Yardley went ahead and opened the main door to look at the sky. Sure enough, it was completely overcast. The sunlight couldn’t pierce through the thick clouds, making everything look dark and gloomy.

’It looked like this when I came out of the training room. How is it still the same almost an hour later? Does it really take this long for the rain to build up?’

’When it finally starts, is it going to be a downpour at the very least?’

"Yeah, I’ve already brought in everything that was drying outside."

Faye Yardley quickly finished her breakfast and went to fish for treasure chests. ’The rain hasn’t started yet, so I might as well pretend to be diligent.’

RING RING RING... Her brother was calling. She answered immediately. "Ethan, what’s up?"

"It looks like the temperature is really dropping. Make sure you don’t catch a cold."

"I know."

"Looks like the ice business won’t last much longer. Luckily, I’ve already leveled up, but the rest of my guys are still a ways off."

Faye Yardley pursed her lips. "Well, I can’t help you with that."

"I was just telling you, I wasn’t asking for help. After all, you already gave us the crafting schematic for Crossbow Arrows. We’re adjusting our production now to make more Crossbow Arrows to keep in stock. By the way, Tiberius said if we have a Refined Island Entry Order, he can take us directly to an island within his clan’s territory. He said he can give us a discount on anything we want to buy after we get ashore."

’Does my brother have some kind of mind-reading ability?’ Faye Yardley wondered. ’How else would he know I happen to have one?’

"Er... did he say that because his territory has some special resource that’s particularly useful for us?"

Ethan Yardley chuckled. "Heh, you’re so smart, you already figured it out. That’s right. He said their area has a type of Ice Blue Grass that’s perfect for us. Eating it can boost our physical Attributes."

"Oh. Are there any special schematics?"

"He didn’t say. Isn’t an herb that boosts your Attributes tempting enough for you?"

Faye Yardley shook her head. "Not enough. By the way, do you have any Ordinary Island Entry Orders?"

"I don’t, but one of my teammates got lucky and found one. I’m trying to get my hands on some long-duration Invitation Cards. I’ll invite you to go to the island with us when the time comes."

"Oh. Okay. We’ll see when the time comes."

While they were on the phone, Faye Yardley fished up a Wooden Treasure Chest. Her expression remained calm; Wooden Treasure Chests weren’t very useful to her anymore, unless they contained special event items.

’I still haven’t used the doll, floral handkerchief, and other things I got last time.’

"Alright, I’ve got to get back to it. I just wanted to let you know. Who knows when we’ll get our hands on a Refined Island Entry Order."

Faye Yardley said plainly, "You can craft one Refined from three Ordinary ones. Why don’t you just try to buy two Ordinary ones on the market?"

"You already knew that?!"

"Of course. I’ve already crafted one. The Refined Island Entry Order I used to invite you to Serenia was one I crafted."

Ethan Yardley: ...

After hanging up, Faye Yardley frowned slightly. ’Should I choose a random destination this time, or go to the territory of Tiberius’s clan?’

’Each has its pros and cons, but there’s no rush to go right now.’

’I’ll think about it later.’

’Come to think of it, being able to go to the city where Yvonne Lynch and her group are would be an even better choice.’

’Unfortunately, I don’t have Yvonne Lynch’s contact information.’

’Who knows when I’ll run into her again.’

Just as Faye Yardley reeled in a large eel, the heavy, dark clouds finally began to unleash a torrent of rain.

The rain hammered down with incredible force. Faye Yardley suspected that if her raft didn’t have its Energy Protection Shield, the sheer power of the raindrops would have smashed right through the roof of her thatched hut.

Since it didn’t really affect her fishing, Faye Yardley didn’t move, and simply continued fishing from her spot with peace of mind.

Eamon, however, rushed over to move two pots of sunflowers inside the thatched hut. Then he ran over to her and said, "I already moved the cherry blossom tree back into the cultivation room this morning. I’ll bring it back out after the rain stops."

"It’s fine, just leave it in the cultivation room."

Eamon, now in a raincoat, hurried off again.

The rain truly washed away the sweltering heat that had lingered for so long.

At first, most people were thrilled. The arrival of the rain caused the temperature to plummet to what was once considered normal—around 30°C (86°F).

But the rain was incessant. As it continued to pour, the sea grew unstable and the waves became turbulent. Although the rafts themselves were sturdy, they began to bob violently up and down with the swells.

It was a thrill that not everyone could enjoy.

At this point, forget about fishing—just standing outside one’s shelter felt like you could be swept away by the waves at any moment.

As a result, the public chat became unusually lively once again.

[Oh god, I didn’t even have a chance to be happy about the rain and cooler weather before I started shaking with fear.]

[I risked getting my skull cracked open by raindrops to keep fishing for treasure chests, but the waves just kept coming, one after another. I was so scared my limbs went weak, and I had to crawl back inside inch by inch.]

[My damn treasure chest! I flinched from the fright and it fell back into the sea! Why can’t the waves just wash it back onto my raft?! (Sobbing.jpg)]

[Hahahaha... Don’t you think it’s fun? Wearing a raincoat outside your shelter, riding the waves as they rise and fall. What a rush!]

[Are you nuts? Fun my ass. The raft might be stable, but you could easily get swept overboard by the wind and waves. You call that living?]

[Dammit, dammit, dammit! Can I get a refund for the ice I just bought?]

[Refund my ass! One piece of wood for a huge block of ice was basically a charity case, and you have the nerve to ask for a refund?! Besides, even though it’s cooled down, it’s not like the temperature is comfortable yet.]

[Sitting in your room, sipping some wine, and watching the unique apocalyptic scenery of raging winds, torrential rain, and crashing waves... isn’t that its own kind of special life experience?]

’The public chat really does show you every facet of life,’ she thought.

By now, Faye Yardley had also returned to her living room. Lying on the sofa, she couldn’t feel a thing out of the ordinary.

’Seeing people talk about having a drink while watching the storm does sound kind of nice.’

She hopped up, fed a small dried fish to the Bronze Cat on the mantelpiece, then walked over to the swing chair on her balcony and sat down. Taking a cup of coffee from her storage, she watched the waves outside crash against the transparent Energy Protection Shield, recede as smooth as silk, and then surge forward once more.

Thanks to the shield, no matter how large the waves grew, their impact on her raft was negligible.

Still, Faye Yardley found it hard to imagine how anyone could find it "exciting" to be battered by wave after wave in such extreme weather.

’Is that exciting?’

’That’s just a death wish.’
