Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Saving It All for You
Fortunately, after getting in touch, Faye Yardley had indeed returned to her own raft, and Ethan Yardley was finally able to relax.
Faye Yardley gave her brother six petals.
She also made it clear to him that bathing with the petals or steeping them as tea could enhance his physical Attributes. As for how he chose to use them, that was his business—she couldn’t be bothered.
Faye Yardley didn’t even have time for a long chat with Willow Yardley. After a hurried greeting, she went upstairs to her room and headed for the small balcony, where the flowerpot with the Magic Seed was located.
It was no longer just two tiny sprouts. The plant had grown a bit taller and sprouted new, tender shoots.
She took the dew she had collected from the flower out of her backpack and poured it directly onto the soil. Faye Yardley could clearly feel a sense of joy emanating from the tender shoots.
"So this is what you like to drink. It’s a shame there isn’t much, but I’ll save it all for you."
As Faye Yardley spoke, she felt a wave of excitement coming from the shoots.
’It really is magical.’
"Green Egg, when are you ever going to move?"
After a moment’s thought, Faye Yardley took a cyan Light Energy Fragment from her backpack, and she saw the Green Egg twitch.
"You want this?"
The Green Egg rocked back and forth.
Faye Yardley placed the Light Energy Fragment directly on top of the Green Egg. The light green fragment immediately flowed into it and vanished, as if it were liquid.
"All gone already?"
Faye Yardley felt that after eating the fragment, the Green Egg seemed to have gotten drunk, wobbling left and right like a roly-poly toy.
She quickly placed it back in its wooden box to keep it from falling and shattering.
’No matter how you looked at it, her gains from this trip to the island had been immense.’
She snapped back to the present and took a shower, changing into a fresh set of clothes to feel more refreshed.
When she took out a golden petal, she was surprised to find it was larger than her bed. It exuded a faint, fresh fragrance, and Faye Yardley decided that washing it, drying it in the sun, and using it to make tea was a good plan.
’Maybe it was due to her upbringing, but she always felt that consuming something was more effective than applying it externally.’
She washed the petals and laid them out to dry on some cloth outside the raft.
In this scorching heat, one side was dry before she even finished laying out the other.
After all the petals had been thoroughly sun-dried, Faye Yardley and Willow Yardley began cutting them into small pieces. While Faye cut hers haphazardly, Willow cut each of her pieces into a lovely shape.
In the end, Faye Yardley just handed the whole task over to Willow Yardley. She herself boiled a kettle of water and took a few pieces to make tea.
She had to admit, even if it had no other effects, the fresh fragrance of the petal tea alone made it all worthwhile.
It was also refreshing and invigorating.
Faye Yardley told her brother about the effects, and Ethan Yardley immediately changed his plan to bathe with the petals.
Gavin Donovan, however, sent her a Red Envelope. Inside were a complete yellow Light Energy unit, a complete blue one, and three Light Energy Fragments of other colors.
"Donovan, why are you giving me this? I already took my share from the kills."
"We killed them together, so of course we should split the loot. Besides, we only made it back to the raft thanks to you, Boss. Who knows where we’d be otherwise. You don’t need to share what you have, and you don’t need to give this back to me."
Faye Yardley smiled. "Alright then, I won’t argue. Thanks~"
"You’re too kind, Boss. It was rightfully yours to begin with."
They had left just after 7:00 in the morning. Eight hours had passed, and it was now a little past 3:00 in the afternoon—the hottest part of the day.
Faye Yardley didn’t feel like fishing anymore and decided to relax for a bit.
She flopped onto the living room sofa.
She took a flatbread made by Willow Yardley from her warehouse, took a bite, and her eyes fell on the large TV screen.
[How long is this scorching weather going to last? I thought I couldn’t handle the freezing cold, but it turns out I can’t handle the extreme heat either.]
[Mason King: What the hell is wrong with you Veridians?! Are you discriminating against us or just jealous? Why won’t you even let me buy a block of ice? Is this how you treat your international friends?! Trade_Rejected_Screenshot.jpg]
[LMAO, this is honestly the best news I’ve heard during these tough times. Good on whoever rejected him. We can barely supply our own people, and you think we should supply you? Who do you think you are?]
[Other international friends can buy ice just fine, but you can’t. Ever stop to think that maybe it’s because you’re just that obnoxious?]
[Mason King: F*ck you, you Veridians always claim to be so civilized and friendly, but in the end you’re just a bunch of @#%#@¥%% (Profanity too vulgar, blocked by system)]
[Holy sh*t (‵o′)凸, you son of a bitch, you dare curse at me?!]
What followed was a torrent of curses. Mason King had run out of messages for the day and couldn’t even retort, leaving him to stomp his feet in fury on his own raft.
Faye Yardley clicked her tongue. ’This buffoon is surprisingly persistent.’
She took a big bite of her flatbread and a large gulp of iced juice.
She glanced at the group chat. The members were all busy trying to find ways to cool down and fish for supply chests.
The overall atmosphere was positive and upbeat.
’This is nice,’ she thought. ’Everyone is trying their best to survive.’
Kyle Lewis: @Faye Yardley, Miss Yardley, do you have any vegetables? I’d like to buy some to cook something nice. I’m inviting my mom over to my raft; I just got a one-hour Invitation Card.
Wade Warren: I still have some left from last time. I can sell you some greens.
Faye Yardley: I do. Congratulations! You can finally reunite with your mom after a whole month. [Designated Red Envelope]
Kyle Lewis: Thanks, Miss Yardley. I can’t believe you sent cooked food, and even two slices of watermelon! I’ll put them in my warehouse right away before they spoil in the heat.
Faye Yardley smiled and didn’t reply. ’It’s no big deal,’ she thought. Willow Yardley had prepared plenty of cooked meals, and her cooking was far better than anything Kyle Lewis could make. It was better to just let the mother and son have a happy meal.
Kyle Lewis was a man of principle. Not long after receiving her gift, he sent her a designated Red Envelope in return.
Inside were varying amounts of Oil, red dates, Shannon White, and Crystal.
It was hard to say if the value was equivalent, but Faye Yardley definitely didn’t come out at a loss.
Feeling cheerful, Faye Yardley smiled and sent a luck-based Red Envelope to the group with a message: "A little bonus from your group admin. Enjoy!"
Unexpectedly, Zachary Pierce was the first to claim it. "Thanks, Boss."
The Red Envelope contained all sorts of food and drinks; even the person with the worst luck received a Clementine.
The "King of Best Luck" turned out to be Leo Sloan, who was famously unlucky. It was because he was the last one to claim his share.
Leo Sloan: Thanks, Boss! A watermelon and a dish of braised bamboo shoots.jpg
Bonnie Callahan: Ahhh!!! I should’ve been the last one! I can’t believe something so good was left over.
Leo Sloan: I thank my fellow group members for their generosity.
He had already put the watermelon in his warehouse, planning to eat it with the elders and children of his family once they arrived.
In fact, everyone was preparing for the arrival of the second wave of people in 26 days.
Of course, Faye Yardley didn’t have such worries. To her, the only family she had was her brother. Her other relatives didn’t count.
’She had learned all about the cold realities of human nature after her parents’ accidental death. After all, if she couldn’t even rely on her own grandfather, who else was there?’
’In her heart, she had severed ties with those people long ago.’
’They shouldn’t delude themselves into thinking she would be willing to accept any blood relative when the time came.’
