Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Good Luck Stacked Up

RING RING RING~

Faye Yardley answered Eleanor Jonas’s call. Before she could even speak, a frantic Eleanor Jonas was on the other end. "Yardley, Hailey Miles’s name has turned gray. You... you didn’t just go and kill her, did you?"

"What?!" Faye Yardley was shocked. "You mean she’s dead?"

"You didn’t know?!"

"I do now. How did she die? Ha, don’t tell me she died from the backlash of a failed attempt to curse me."

"You were hurt?"

Faye Yardley looked down at the pile of fragments in her hand and held it up for the other person to see through the call. "See this? A necklace that could save my life once suddenly shattered. Besides her, who else would want me dead that badly?"

Eleanor Jonas was suddenly at a loss for words. Whatever feud or grievance existed between them seemed insignificant now that Hailey Miles was dead.

"You... In that case, get some rest." Eleanor Jonas felt she had made a mistake, jumping to conclusions.

Faye Yardley smiled, her mood greatly improved. "Thanks for telling me the news, Miss Jonas."

"No, don’t mention it."

After hanging up, Faye Yardley thought for a moment and sent her an Invasion Card.

After Eleanor Jonas accepted the Red Envelope and saw the familiar Invasion Card in her hand, her face instantly turned beet red.

After some thought, she felt she should go to her leader and proactively admit her mistake. She would also need to write a detailed self-criticism report.

As for her relationship with Faye Yardley, she, Eleanor Jonas, would have to offer a sincere apology—assuming Faye didn’t mind.

Although she hadn’t caused Faye Yardley any harm, her actions had indirectly revealed her lack of trust in her.

She smacked her head in frustration, cursing herself for being so muddle-headed. After sending Faye Yardley the two words "I’m sorry," she took the Invasion Card and went to find her leader to confess her error.

When Faye Yardley saw the words "I’m sorry," she was taken aback for a moment. ’Why is she suddenly apologizing to me?’

She didn’t give a second thought to Eleanor Jonas asking if she had killed Hailey Miles. On the contrary, she was over the moon because the question had informed her of Hailey’s death.

’Good. My life is only worth 3,000 points. Then again, that also means Hailey Miles’s life was only worth that much.’

’Looks like I still need to buy some Dungeon 1 Fragments. I only have one Dungeon 1 Invitation Card right now, and once I use it, it’s gone.’

’But for now, I need to recover before going in again.’

’What if the Point Shop has other great life-saving items like that?’

She gathered the fragments of the Energy Necklace, placed them on her nightstand, and then took a cold shower to wake herself up.

Her spiritual power had been severely depleted earlier, causing throbbing pain in her head. When she tried to lie down and sleep, she was plagued by nightmares.

So even though Faye Yardley was desperate to go to Dungeon 1, she had to hold back. She didn’t want to risk it until her condition was back to its best.

After all, that Dungeon was truly toxic. When she was weak, the zombies were weak. When she got stronger, the zombies got stronger too. It never let you get an edge.

Lying back down on the bed, she unexpectedly slept straight through until ten at night, only waking up because she was hungry.

Finally, the pain in her head had subsided significantly. When she went downstairs, she saw Willow Yardley moving a Wooden Treasure Chest into the downstairs bedroom.

"Sister, you’re awake! You must be hungry. I’ve been keeping food warm in the kitchen."

With that, she put down the wooden chest and went to the kitchen to bring out the food.

"Willow, you weren’t still fishing for chests at night, were you?"

Willow Yardley smiled faintly. "I have to catch at least three chests a day. I didn’t get them during the day, so it dragged into the evening."

"Isn’t it dangerous at night?"

"Your raft’s defenses are very strong, Sister. Even with night fishing, as long as I’m careful, it’s fine."

"Oh, I see. In that case, I’ll go fishing later."

Willow Yardley had made the energy-rich Fish Meat into a soup. With just one mouthful, Faye Yardley felt her mind clear a little.

And so, she slurped down the entire large bowl of fish soup.

She finished it in one go and was immediately full.

"Take your time, Sister. There’s still more."

"I’m full. You can put the rest away for now."

Faye Yardley’s headache was gone, her body no longer felt uncomfortable, and she was bursting with vitality.

"How many chests do we have now? I’ll go open them."

"I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed, Sister. There are only three Wooden Treasure Chests."

Faye Yardley went into the bedroom off the living room and conscientiously closed the door behind her.

"Heavenly spirits, earthly spirits, Daddy System is the most effective spirit! Open!"

[You have obtained Dungeon 2 Fragment x1, Pure Water x5, wood x15, cloth x1]

Talent: Double Good Luck has been triggered. All items obtained this time are doubled.

’Huh? Another Dungeon Fragment. A number 2, at that. I think I still have a Dungeon 2 Invitation Card I’ve never used. Should I go check it out?’

[You have obtained Bandage x4, iron block x10, vanilla ice cream x2, ice-cold beer x5]

Talent triggered... All items doubled.

[You have obtained Hemostatic Pill x5, Angel Brand sanitary napkins x5, Crystal x10, stones x10]

Talent triggered... All items doubled.

’It actually doubled every time. Is this the good luck from the hairclip?’

’Looks like my brother really gave me an incredible gift.’

Seeing the sanitary napkins, Faye Yardley silently calculated her menstrual cycle. ’Isn’t my period overdue?’

’Whatever. I’ll just store them in a dedicated wooden chest for daily necessities in my backpack. That way, I won’t have to worry when it comes.’

After opening all the chests, Faye Yardley went out to the thatched canopy to fish.

She used both a special fishing rod and a regular one at the same time, this way she could reap double the joy.

The night ocean was pitch-black. Not a single ray of moonlight pierced the sky, making the sea seem all the more mysterious and eerie.

Faye Yardley felt a prickle of fear facing such an ocean; it was as if something terrible would happen if she stared at it for too long.

Even without a single ray of light, the temperature was still nearly thirty degrees Celsius. With no wind, Faye Yardley had only been sitting for a short while before she felt sticky all over.

The fishing rods showed no sign of movement. After a moment’s thought, Faye Yardley opened her screen.

To her surprise, the small group chat was buzzing at this hour, discussing how Hailey Miles had died.

Wade Warren: So according to Kyle, Hailey Miles was fishing for treasure chests and died from sun exposure? Heatstroke?

Ethan Yardley: Good riddance. My sister is such a well-behaved person, and that woman had the nerve to spout nonsense, falsely accusing my sister of wanting to kill her. Who did she think she was, a leader, a president, a queen? That everyone would want to kill her? In the end, no one had to do a thing; she got herself killed. Serves her right!

Gavin Donovan: The boss is right. The Lady Boss is such a good person. That Hailey whatever-her-name-was deserved to die.

Leo Sloan: When a person dies, it’s like a lamp going out. We should stop discussing her.

Faye Yardley: So she’s really dead. What about her body? Cremated or buried at sea?

Ethan Yardley: Faye, why are you even worried about that? As long as she’s dead, that’s all that matters.

Kyle Lewis: I heard her body was cremated with superpower fire by a beautiful woman who’s with the big shot Logan Langdon.

’Superpower fire?’

Faye Yardley couldn’t help but frown. ’Logan Langdon is keeping an Otherkin with him full-time?’
