Chapter 2010: Chapter 2096: Yellow Wind City
Man Wuji stopped in the Void and pointed a finger into the distant emptiness.
"Chen Nan, see that? This is the Hundred Clan Domain. However, this is only the outermost area, where Low-level cultivators of various races are stationed."
Man Wuji withdrew his aura, and with Chen Nan and the others took a few steps in the Void. The next second, the three of them appeared on the largest island in the middle.
This island was countless times larger than those planets Chen Nan had seen before. Before Chen Nan even landed, a barrier appeared in the Void.
A Token appeared in Man Wuji’s hand. With a wave of his big hand, a gate opened in the middle of the barrier, just big enough for the three of them to pass through.
Only now did Chen Nan notice that all these Floating Islands had a layer of rune barriers on the outside, which looked anything but simple.
"Within the Hundred Clan Domain, the population is over tens of billions. Most have long settled down, but itinerant cultivators are also a hassle. So even Supreme Experts, no matter where they enter from, must have their identities registered and verified by the cultivators on these Floating Islands before they can enter."
Man Wuji explained as he descended together with Chen Nan and the others.
"However, once you reach the Supreme King Realm, you can obtain a Supreme Token issued by the Hundred Clans Alliance. With that Token, you can travel freely."
As they spoke, two figures appeared in the distant Void, both white-haired old men whose Cultivation had reached the Super Supreme Realm.
They cupped their fists to Man Wuji. "We respectfully welcome your return, my lord."
Man Wuji waved his hand. "No need to stand on ceremony, you two elders. I’m just staying in the city for two or three days. If there’s nothing important, you don’t need to bother about me."
At Man Wuji’s casual order, the two Super Supremes seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and vanished in the blink of an eye.
"Brother Man, this is the kind of treatment only a Supreme King can enjoy, right?" Chen Nan chuckled.
"That’s right. Supreme Kings are the backbone of the Hundred Clan Domain and enjoy various privileges. Without countless Kings sitting in town, this Domain would’ve been destroyed long ago by those wandering Star Domain powerhouses."
Man Wuji frowned slightly. "Lately, the Undying Family’s Undying Taoist has reappeared in the Outer Domain. Those old undying things that have lived for who knows how many tens of thousands of years—if they sneak into the Hundred Clan Domain, countless will die and be wounded again."
Chen Nan’s heart shook fiercely. Back then, the Haotian Tower had used the Three-faced God Puppet to scare off the Undying Monk; that was supposed to be borrowing a tiger to drive away the wolf. He hadn’t expected the tiger to actually show up now.
This Undying Taoist was even more troublesome than the Undying Monk.
"Chen Nan, you don’t need to worry. The four powerhouses of the Undying Family are formidable, but they’ll only stir up some chaos at most. When the sky falls, naturally there’ll be someone taller to hold it up. You don’t need to worry."
Man Wuji smiled. "In fact, even if the girl Qingqing hadn’t been captured by the Heavenly Evil Emperor, I would have brought you here. A rising new star like you is bound to become a target of the Undying Taoist. It’s safer for you inside the Hundred Clan Domain."
Ye Yiyi had been closely following Chen Nan all the way. Aside from Chen Nan, she was stern and tight-lipped in front of everyone else.
Hearing Man Wuji say this, she also let out a small breath of relief.
In the distance, an ancient city that seemed to reach the heavens stretched majestically for an unknown number of tens of thousands of miles, blocking their view.
"Yellow Wind City counts as one of the larger cities among the outer cities of the Hundred Clan Domain. It has over ten million inhabitants and covers several million square kilometers. Every autumn and winter, yellow winds blow here, hence the name."
Man Wuji had roamed the Outer Domain for who knows how many years, and he could rattle off the background of these cities like a family heirloom.
Chen Nan nodded, finding it rather interesting. The yellow wind should be similar to those sandstorm-like weather patterns on Earth in the Human World. The experts in Yellow Wind City were interesting as well, actually not bothering to stop it.
For Supreme Experts, moving mountains and filling seas was nothing. Stopping the yellow wind should’ve been a piece of cake.
As they chatted, the few of them passed through the city gate and entered the city.
As soon as he entered Yellow Wind City, even though Chen Nan had already heard Man Wuji mention it, he was still instantly dumbfounded.
Within this city, this ancient city, there were cultivators of every Realm, and also cultivators clearly from different races. Although they had all taken Human form, their auras could not be disguised.
Chen Nan even saw a few members of the Heavenly People Clan flying in the city.
Besides the Heavenly People Clan, up in the sky there were people sitting in Spirit Boats, riding Spiritual Beasts, using Sword Flight, and directly treading on the Void.
These people’s Cultivation was long sufficient for instantaneous movement. They were doing this purely as a lifestyle choice.
"Let’s find a place to stay first, then grab a bite together. Since we’re here, I’ll show you around properly," Man Wuji said with a smile. "As for the girl Qingqing, I’ll contact the Heavenly Mechanism Pavilion to investigate the recent movements of the Heavenly Evil Emperor and the Witch Demon King."
"Then I’ll have to trouble you, Brother Man."
Chen Nan knew this wasn’t something to rush. If they startled the snake, even at the same level it was hard to chase down a fleeing Supreme King, let alone for someone like him.
The three of them found an inn, arranged their lodgings, and only then came back out.
"In this Yellow Wind City, there’s a Heavenly Food Pavilion. Inside, there’s a Supreme Realm chef who has mastered the Water and Fire Law. A single meal there is hard to come by. Big Brother will take you to have a taste and wait for news while we’re at it."
After flying tens of thousands of miles, Man Wuji brought Chen Nan to a pavilion that pierced straight into the clouds and stopped in front of it.
With a flicker of their bodies, he led them inside.
A King-grade Spirit Stone flew out of Man Wuji’s hand and landed in the waiter’s palm.
Seeing the waiter’s Cultivation, Chen Nan couldn’t help but have his breath catch. This waiter was actually a Supreme Expert. Although he was, like Chen Nan, only at the Supreme Early Stage, the fact that he was willing to humble himself and hole up here was truly jaw-dropping.
Supremes—once upon a time, in Chen Nan’s mind, they were existences that controlled everything.
"Curious, shocked, and even feeling a bit of pity?" Man Wuji’s voice sounded directly in his ear. "You’re looking at him as a Supreme Realm expert lowering himself here, but in reality, his quality of life is better than that of who knows how many people in Yellow Wind City. The diners here aren’t necessarily richer than him either."
Man Wuji saw through what Chen Nan was thinking in an instant.
"Ahem, that’s true. Just one meal here costs a King-grade Spirit Stone. That’s definitely a sky-high price."
Man Wuji didn’t bother ordering. After finding a seat, he sat down. Around them, several tables of diners were already waiting. Every single one of them was a Supreme Realm expert, and there was even one Super Supreme.
As Chen Nan and the others were waiting, they saw a few members of the Heavenly People Clan come in. Two shifty-eyed Supremes were complaining to an elderly man beside them. "That Human just walked into the Heavenly Food Pavilion. Even if he turns to ash, we’ll never forget him. Elder, you must avenge us. That brat nearly doomed us to eternal damnation. We have to make him vanish into nothingness."
The old man chuckled, a hint of mockery flashing in his blood-red eyes. "Two Supreme Early Stage brats, and you still want me to lift a hand... Useless things."
Chen Nan swept his gaze over, following the sound, and sensed a faintly familiar aura from the two men. However, he couldn’t recall where he’d seen them before, which made him feel a bit strange.
