Chapter 239: Go rescue your wife

Qie Xieling had never thought he was an unlucky individual until now. He had found out that this game character kept a pocket knife in his boot mainly because he had dealing with a criminal organisation. It was in his best interest to have something to defend himself with in case of a turf war.

So when he jumped into the water he intended to use the pocket knife and cut the rope. Since he was a powerful swimmer and could hold his breath this plan was feasible. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

What he didn’t expect was for Leong Jinn’s trigger-happy fingers to initiate a level four punishment. The result thereof was him experiencing the most excruciating pain in his life underwater. A few seconds in, he passed out as he slowly sank to the bottom.

Meanwhile, on the weathered dock, the imposing figure of Luo Muchen stood alongside his loyal bodyguards. His eyes scanned the calm surface of the water, a flicker of menace overshadowing his face. There was no trace of Qie Xieling resurfacing.

His jaw tight he clenched his fist, muttering a disdainful farewell under his breath. Good riddance, he thought callously, his disdain mirrored in his heart. Suddenly, a firm hand pressed against Luo Muchen’s chest, snapping him out of it. His gaze fell upon Bager, concern etched in his eyes. Bager was worried Luo Muchen would jump into the water after Qie Xieling but he couldn’t voice it out.

Without uttering a word, Luo Muchen turned away, striding purposefully towards the warehouse. Bager followed after him opening his mouth several times but he was hesitant to speak.

After three decisive steps, Luo Muchen’s resolve shattered.

A guttural grunt escaped his lips as he halted abruptly. With a swift stride, he shed his suit jacket, tossing it aside and dove headfirst into the water ignoring his men’s worried protests. His men yelled out frantically, their voices echoing in his ears, but Luo Muchen paid no heed.

In the watery depths, Luo Muchen paused for a moment, surveying the murky gloom, searching for any sign of Qie Xieling. Panic threatened to consume him as he spotted Qie Xieling sinking motionless towards the abyss. Urgency surged through Luo Muchen’s veins, propelling him forward. With every stroke, he fought against the current, his determination eclipsing the dangers lurking below.

Finally, Luo Muchen reached Qie Xieling’s lifeless body, embracing him tightly. He propelled them both upwards, kicking against the weight of despair. His men sprung into action, rushing to their boss’s aid, their hands reaching out to bring them back to solid ground.

Once on the dock, Luo Muchen wasted no time. He performed CPR with the precision of a seasoned professional. A desperate cough shook Qie Xieling’s body as he choked up a mouthful of water. Yet, his eyes remained closed, refusing to awaken.

Urgency turned Luo Muchen’s voice into a command as he ordered his men to carry him to a doctor, his frustration simmering beneath the surface.

As his soaked shirt clung to his skin, he yanked at his collar, a futile attempt to alleviate his discomfort. Bager hurried over, offering his own dry jacket, concern shadowing his features. But Luo Muchen refused the offer, his refusal causing a flash of sadness in Bager’s eyes.

Bager glanced back at the unconscious Qie Xieling, a clandestine flicker of resentment betraying his true desires. A tinge of envy coursed through his veins, for it seemed that Qie Xieling possessed an uncanny resilience, akin to that of a cat with nine lives. Why couldn’t he just die?

"What’s wrong with him?" asked Luo Muchen while watching Qie Xieling lying unmoving. It had already been two days since the incident but he hadn’t shown any signs of waking up.

Luo Muchen had ignored him for an entire forty-eight hours refusing any reports concerning him.

But after two days of staying away from his mansion overlooking the city he couldn’t help but come back to deal with him. Who would have thought Qie Xieling was still asleep like snow white waiting for a kiss to wake him up?

Folding his arms across his chest he glanced at the doctor who was staring at him with a perplexed look on his face as well. "All his vitals are good. He is extremely healthy and should have been awake by now but it’s almost as if he doesn’t want to wake up."

"Can’t you give him something to wake him up?" he asked his voice deep and tyrannical.

Doctor Kang sighed with his hands in his pocket. "I can only give him saline solution and wait for him to wake up when he wants to. But his life is not in danger," he said before turning to his assistant standing behind them quietly.

"Yu-er, you should take care of him well. If anything changes you should inform me."

Bi Yu raised her head and when she met Luo Muchen’s dark gaze she lowered her head again and answered, "Yes, sir."

Luo Muchen left in disappointment. He was honestly starting to regret saving him. He should have just let him drown and save himself the trouble.

After they left Bi Yu scurried over and packed up the medical tools left by Doctor Kang. She accidentally bumped the chain tying him to the bed and was a little startled. She was made aware of the type of people she was going to work for but seeing a man being held captive terrified her a little. She could quit but the pay was good and the boss was handsome to look at. She hurriedly left the basement her heart pounding hard in her throat.

Meanwhile, Luo Muchen was walking towards the car with a group of men following behind him. He was giving his secretary instructions. It seemed he was leaving her in charge of Qie Xieling for now.

After exchanging a few words he entered the car and soon three SUVs left the property. The secretary walked back into the house and the first thing she did was go to the basement.

There was a guard at the door but they let her through. The sound of stilettos clanked as she walked down the stairs.

When she reached the bottom of the stairs she sighed. "You better stay asleep because when you wake up I will kick your ass," she said. Jolie had been waiting for a character to take after.

Lucky for her secretary Chan was meant to die under the hands of the Eastside triads as a message to Luo Muchen. When they were sure she was dead, Jolie took over and healed her wounds before showing her face again.

Who would have thought she would find out that Qie Xieling had tried to kill himself and Luo Muchen saved him? She was extremely livid and couldn’t wait to pinch his ears in retaliation.
