Chapter 222: Love potion

The moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the palace walls. A shadowy figure fell at such a great speed and if one looked closely they could tell it was a woman. As she fell Yana realised her magic was weakened due to her injuries, and a flicker of fear flashed across her eyes. But true to her wicked nature, she refused to yield. In a desperate attempt, she murmured an incantation, summoning fragments of her remaining magic. However, the power was feeble, and it faltered before it could offer any assistance.

King Luo’s body underwent a wondrous transformation, turning into an enormous dragon. His scales glistened with iridescent hues, reflecting his regal authority and ancient lineage.

Without a second thought, he dove towards Yana, his giant wings slicing through the air. Yana cried out in terror as the formidable creature swiftly swooped down and caught her fragile form in his mighty claws. The wind rushed past them, carrying Yana’s panicked screams into the sky.

King Luo had no intention of ending Yana’s life or at least until she spoke. Instead, he carried her higher into the heavens, ascending towards the clouds. With an abrupt motion, he released his grip, sending Yana hurtling downward amid the chaotic winds. Fear gripped her heart as she tumbled uncontrollably, aware of the immense danger she was in.

Finally, the tempestuous storm of wind spat Yana out onto the earth’s surface, her bones aching from the impact. Struggling to rise, she glanced up at King Luo, a burst of mad laughter escaping her lips despite the pain coursing through her body.

She had underestimated the extent of Eling’s influence on King Luo. The devoid monk with no interest in matters of the heart actually fell in love with a man who betrayed him. This was laughable.

King Luo approached Yana confidently, his dragon form vanishing replaced by his human form draped in a blue armour . "Are you ready to talk?"

Yana’s laughter, a mixture of defiance and pain, echoed through the desolate landscape. Despite her weakened state, she managed to gather her strength. In a grotesque display, she spat out a mouth full of blood. Her eyes narrowed with venomous contempt enjoying the faint desperation in his eyes. She was waiting, waiting for Yunning to appear.

"Speak!"

King Luo hadn’t noticed at first but he soon realised she was stalling. As expected, he felt a presence approach him from behind and when he turned around his face was sprayed by something blinding his sight.

Before he had time to react something was fed to him and his entire body was in disarray. As the potion coursed through his veins, King Luo felt a strange sensation envelop him, a fluttering in his heart and a clouding of his thoughts. He could feel his heart swell with conflicting emotions battling it out. He clutched his chest and staggered backwards while a soft familiar voice whispered the spell her voice as seductive as a siren’s.

The image of Yunning before him became hazy, her voice a distant murmur. Unbeknownst to Yunning, King Luo’s bloodline possessed a strength of will that defied enchantments by mere mortals. As the love potion attempted to sway his emotions, his draconian heritage surged forth, an indomitable force that burned away the effects of the potion like a raging inferno. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

In a swift motion, his eyes glimmering with newfound clarity, King Luo reached out and seized Yunning by the neck, his grip firm but tinged with a flicker of restraint. A flurry of potent magic danced upon his outstretched palm, a warning of the consequences that she now faced.

Yunning’s eyes widened in shock and confusion, unable to comprehend why the love potion had failed to ensnare his heart. She gasped for breath, her voice a precarious whisper. It was then, in the face of danger, that the truth began to dawn upon her.

She had underestimated the depth of King Luo’s obsession with Eling. She thought getting this love potion from the goddess of the underworld would make it effective enough but she couldn’t have been more wrong.

This meant in his heart, Eling held an irreplaceable place within his soul. No potion, no spell could ever hope to extinguish the flame that burned for him. This realisation left her heart shattered and broken. Her eyes turned misty and she finally broke down crying.

Yana saw that things were headed in an unexpected direction so she took the opportunity before Yunning could use it for herself. "She poisoned him with Bleeding Venom. He is going to die," she said and King Luo felt a sharp pang in his heart.

He slowly released his hold on Yunning’s throat, his hand lowering as his fierce magic died down. Who didn’t know the potency of such a poisonous substance?

The Bleeding Venom was an unconventional poison that differed from typical poisons. Unlike other poisons that produce noticeable symptoms, the Bleeding Venom operated discreetly, catching its victims off guard. It was like a ghost working in the shadows.

Over time, the venom gradually tightened its grip, launching the victim on a slow and harrowing journey towards destruction. The venom fiercely attacked the victim’s internal organs, causing them to deteriorate and waste away, inch by excruciating inch. Its assault was relentless, leaving the victim in a state of agony.

King Luo felt his soul leave his body. With a distraught look on his face, he flew up and left. Yunning and Yana were trembling in confusion.

Since he had left them unharmed they decided to run for their lives. But as they got up the ground suddenly shook and roots emerged from beneath the surface. They tried to defend themselves but it was pointless. The roots wrapped around their bodies constricting their breathing. They were left with only the tips of their noses showing the rest of their bodies cacooned inside.

The palace gardens returned to their tranquil state like nothing had happened. Jolie sneered as she stood atop the tower. This was their plan all along. They knew Yana wouldn’t be able to resist and here she was but this time she was with Yunning. "Ha, these two bitches deserve each other," she said before leaving the tower. She wanted to know if King Luo managed to find out what was wrong with Qie Xieling.

King Luo now knew what was wrong with Qie Xieling but he had no idea how to fix it. His heart was so much that he couldn’t contain his emotions. It was like being submerged at the bottom of a pool in a glacier frozen stiff. His eyes turned sour as he lay down next to him. He had never cried when his mother left nor did he cry when he was betrayed but here he was with a tear rolling down his cheek.
