Chapter 105: Lucian, Control Your Wolf

Their attention was elsewhere. It was subtle, so subtle that only the most perceptive observers would notice it, but there was a distraction in their bearing. Lucian especially seemed pulled in a direction that wasn’t toward the gathered alphas. His eyes kept flickering gold. His jaw was clenched so tightly it looked like his teeth might crack. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Rhen was showing through Sebastian’s eyes more often than was typical. His composure seemed thin, like it was taking significant effort to maintain.

And Nicholas, despite his impeccable control, had a tightness to his frame that suggested he was holding himself together through sheer force of will.

In the eastern section of the compound, in the work areas where the omegas were completing final preparations, Lilith was arranging linens in one of the storage closets.

Then the world stopped.

It wasn’t a dream. She wasn’t asleep. She was simply standing in a storage closet with a stack of linens in her arms when something hit her with the force of a physical blow.

A connection. A presence. A pull so intense it knocked the breath completely out of her lungs.

Lilith gasped, her hands losing their grip on the linens. The fabric fell to the floor as she staggered backward, her body responding to something her mind didn’t understand.

Gold eyes flashed across her consciousness. Then silver. Then dark eyes like obsidian.

Her chest was heaving. Her skin was flushed. Her entire body was responding to a presence that was suddenly very close. Not touching. Not visible. But close enough that every cell in her being was screaming recognition.

The pull lasted for five minutes. Five solid minutes where she couldn’t breathe properly, couldn’t think clearly, couldn’t do anything except stand there and experience the intensity of the connection.

Then it faded slightly, settling into a constant, low-level awareness rather than a crushing force.

Lilith sank to the floor, her back against the shelving unit, trying to understand what had just happened.

Emma found her moments later.

"Lilith!" Emma rushed into the storage closet, her kind eyes filling with concern. "What’s wrong? Are you okay? You look like you’re going to pass out."

Lilith looked up at her, unable to form words. What could she say? That she’d just felt something impossible? That three men who’d held her captive for sisteen days had somehow just arrived at her pack compound and she’d felt their presence like a physical touch?

"I’m fine," Lilith managed, though her voice was shaky. "Just... dizzy for a moment. I think I need water."

Emma helped her to her feet, her concern obvious. "You’re working too hard. You need to slow down. The extra wages aren’t worth collapsing."

But Lilith barely heard her. Her mind was spinning. The pull was still there, constant and undeniable, like a rope tied around her heart.

Back in the main courtyard, Lucian’s control finally cracked.

He was standing among the gathered alphas, listening to the Nightfall alpha drone on about territorial protocols, when the awareness hit him like a physical punch.

Lilith.

She was here. Close enough to reach. Close enough to touch.

Zev howled inside his chest, desperate and feral and completely overcome with recognition.

Lucian’s eyes flashed completely gold, not just flickering, but fully gold, the wolf visible and present in his human form.

His head snapped toward the eastern section of the compound, toward the work areas where the omegas were moving about their tasks.

A growl escaped his throat.

It was involuntary. Completely uncontrolled. A sound that came from deep in his chest and reverberated across the courtyard. The growl of an alpha recognizing his mate. The sound of Zev asserting claim.

Every alpha present froze.

Conversations stopped mid-sentence. Warriors went completely still. The political facade of the Summit dissolved in an instant, replaced by the raw reality of alpha dynamics.

"Lucian," Nicholas said, his voice cutting through the moment.

The single word carried weight. Command. The kind of alpha authority that even another alpha couldn’t ignore.

Lucian’s eyes snapped back to his eldest brother. For a moment, there was visible struggle in his expression. Zev wanted to break free. Zev wanted to shift. Zev wanted to run toward their mate and claim her in front of every alpha present.

But Kael’s presence in Nicholas’s eyes was absolute. Unquestionable. Stronger than Zev’s feral need.

Lucian closed his eyes.

He took a breath. Then another. His fists clenched at his sides as he forced the wolf back down. When he opened his eyes again, the gold had receded, replaced by his normal dark eyes. But there was a predatory edge to him now that hadn’t been there before. A danger that seemed to vibrate in the air around him.

Sebastian moved closer to his youngest brother, close enough that only the three of them could hear.

"Control your wolf, brother," Sebastian said quietly, his voice low and dangerous. "Don’t make it too obvious or you’ll put her in danger. We need strategy. We need to be careful."

The message was clear: Lucian’s desperation was putting their mate at risk. If the other alphas understood what Lilith meant to them, she would become a target. A pawn. A bargaining chip.

Lucian’s jaw clenched, but he nodded slightly, acknowledging the truth of Sebastian’s words.

The gathered alphas were still watching, trying to process what they’d just witnessed. An alpha losing control. An alpha being called back by another alpha. Power dynamics shifting in real time.

Lucian stood there for a long moment, his body vibrating with barely controlled intensity. Then he looked directly at Garrett.

"Show me to my resting place," Lucian said, his voice rough with the effort of maintaining control.

It wasn’t a request. It was a command. A necessary removal from the situation before Zev broke free completely.

Garrett, still processing what had just happened, nodded immediately.

"Of course, Alpha," he said. He turned to one of the nearby omegas....a young woman named Iris, and gestured for her to come forward.
