Chapter 75: Chapter 74 Crowdfunding

Mo Shigui suddenly appeared and stole Can Xin’s mob, which was a loss of face for Can Xin. The face he lost wasn’t in front of outsiders, but within the Abyss Temple guild itself.

Ever since Mo Shigui took the initiative to hold that BOSS distribution meeting, Can Xin had informed all the members of his own guild. The message Can Xin sent at the time read, “We’ve booked the whole place for this Divine War against the Hornet Knight, and there’s no way any other of the top seven guilds will come to snatch it. If there are any bystanders, we’ll take care of them if we can.”

Such a domineering statement, coupled with a care for bystanders, made Can Xin feel like his stature had suddenly grown within the guild.

But it didn’t take long for Mo Shigui to personally shatter that stature.

Just thinking of this made Can Xin seethe with anger.

“Look at private chat!”

Mo Shigui heard Can Xin’s complaint, loudly calling out to him, but he himself still managed to keep a firm hold on the Hornet Knight’s aggro.

Private chat?

Can Xin didn’t even have time to open his chat software, as the entire Dancing Nuclear Guild was converging from all directions.

In an instant, the atmosphere between the two guilds became extremely tense, as if one small misstep could turn the instance-clearing battle into a massive open-world PK scene.

Had they resolved to fight them for the Hornet Knight?

Can Xin hurriedly opened the private message that Mo Shigui had sent him five minutes ago. He had been busy trying to kill the Hornet Knight’s clone and hadn’t spared a moment to check his private messages.

‘My third life is in the Hornet Knight’s hands, and I’m currently under the Corpse Curse. To break it, I must drain the Hornet Knight’s health. If you see this, reply immediately, or I’ll start without you.’”

Corpse Curse? Can Xin remembered this mechanic in the Divine instance, but didn’t he recall there was an even more vicious penalty as well?

“Can Xin, do me a favor. Our guild leader’s wife was killed by the Hornet Knight,” Velvet Rabbit ran over to Can Xin’s side and revealed… the real reason their guild leader had come charging over furiously to confront the Hornet Knight.

“Wife? I knew Old Song had a girlfriend, but I didn’t think he was married…”

Can Xin was preoccupied with a hundred ways to kill the Hornet Knight and it took him a moment to catch up with the conversation.

“Guild leader, Fureya, Spirit Guardian Fureya,” whispered a member of the Abyss Temple guild to Can Xin.

“So it’s an in-game wife. Never would have guessed Mo Shigui with the bushy brows had a thing for doll girls.”

Can Xin felt much better after hearing this; in his mind, Mo Shigui was the epitome of a straight man, one who wouldn’t even flirt with female NPCs in the game.

However, today Can Xin finally realized Mo Shigui was not the straightforward type, but rather a dark horse, which led Can Xin to believe he had discovered a weakness of the enemy guild’s leader.

What Can Xin needed to do was to exploit this weakness.

“Brothers! The Dancing Nuclear Guild leader’s wife has been killed by the Hornet Knight! Anyone with crowd control, help keep the Hornet Knight in check. Anyone with a BUFF, put one on Guild Leader Mo Shigui!”

Can Xin ran to the highest point of the battlefield ruins, only shouting out after cranking his volume up to the max.

Not only did the members of the Abyss Temple hear his words, the Dancing Nuclear Guild players on the battlefield, as well as some bystanders, all heard him loud and clear.

“What do you mean his wife got killed?”

“Are you dumb? Mo Shigui’s Fureya is dead.”

“Ah? His doll girl is dead? Poor guy.”

“Let’s help him out since he’s in such a pitiful state. I heard killing the Hornet Knight could revive his doll girl.”

Mo Shigui, listening to Can Xin’s loud proclamation and the conversations of passersby, felt his eyelids and face twitch uncontrollably. He fought hard to suppress the twisted expression on his face and the urge to shout back at Can Xin.

Once again, he raised his shield and slammed it into the Hornet Knight.

“I recognize you,” the Hornet Knight parried Mo Shigui’s shield strike with his chain blade, “I’ve killed you once, but I’ve killed many spirits. When I see them again… they show no hate towards me. Your expression looks very similar to mine.”

“Shut up!”

Mo Shigui said as he swung his longsword with his left hand once again, aiming for the Wasp Knight. However, the figure of the Wasp Knight vanished before him, reappearing behind Mo Shigui the next moment.

“Your anger will make you lose your reason.” As the Wasp Knight’s voice rang out, Mo Shigui felt another backstab coming!

But the blade of the Wasp Knight didn’t penetrate Mo Shigui’s body as a barrier lit up around him, warding off the attack from the Wasp Knight.

‘Fluffy Rabbit has cast Holy Light Guardian on you.’

Holy Light Guardian was a skill mastered by Holy ones, which allowed the target to be immune to physical damage for a very short time, approximately 2.5 seconds.

And in a tense fight, 2.5 seconds could save a life!

“There won’t be a fourth time!” During those 2.5 seconds, Mo Shigui immediately launched a Shield Strike, causing the Wasp Knight’s body to become unbalanced. As Mo Shigui prepared to swing his sword again, a green light suddenly shot out from the blade, followed by a red light once the green had subsided.

After the red light disappeared, an angelic apparition emerged above his head, followed by the shade of a green sprite after the angel’s apparition faded, and then the phantom of a ghostly deity appeared.

What’s happening?

Mo Shigui glanced at the system prompt.

‘Fluffy Rabbit has cast Power Blessing on you.’

‘Tablecloth has cast Honor Blessing on you.’

Mo Shigui recognized these two healers: one was the number one healer from his own guild, while the other was the top healer from the Abyss Temple guild. But the IDs popping up in his status bar afterward were all unfamiliar.

‘Aquatic Tycoon has cast Disguise on you.’

‘Wen Xiangge has cast Warrior Mark on you.’

‘Candy Hater has cast Immortal Song on you.’

‘Jiu Xie has cast Holy Healing on you.’

‘You are under the effect of Sword Ghost Formation from Mechanic Ling Liao.’

‘You are under the effect of Spring Song from Winter Night Approaches…’

The sequence of IDs was all unknown to Mo Shigui. He took another look at his BUFF bar, which was filled with a dizzying array of seven rows of BUFFs.

With each row able to display ten BUFFs, this meant he was under the influence of more than seventy BUFFs.

There were many professions among the Holy ones, and equally many with support abilities. Mo Shigui turned his head in amazement to find that, unknown to him, the area surrounding the battlefield was now filled with the figures of numerous players.

“Online? The BUFF monster is here, where’s that guy with the dead wife?”

“We’re from Fureya’s backup club, whose Fureya has died? Put on a BUFF and help bring her back to life.”

“Why are there so many Holies! My BUFFs have been overridden.”

“A level 40 Power Blessing? Little brother, you might want to step aside! Look at my Power Blessing.”

Listening to the chatter of a bunch of passersby players behind him, Mo Shigui could feel his face heating up. If this continued, the reputation of the Dancing Nuclear Guild leader was likely ruined…

But…

“Thanks.”

Mo Shigui whispered so softly that no one could hear, as he raised his shield, laden with an entire ten rows of BUFFs, and charged at the Wasp Knight once again.
