Chapter 1030: UNFROZEN

NEOMA had so many things to do now that she was back.

But, of course, her top priority at the moment was Lewis’ well-being.

She couldn’t leave her ’son’ confused, especially not with the newly ’unfrozen’ Silver Foxes.

To be fair, she didn’t know exactly what was going on either.

But she thought she should at least clear the misunderstanding.

"You were frozen for a very long time," Neoma said in a cold, serious voice. It wasn’t like she was angry. But she could feel her body starting to feel heavy, so she wanted the conversation to be over as soon as possible. She didn’t mean to sound indifferent, and she didn’t want to use force to stop the Silver Foxes from moving. But she had to. "In this era, Lewis is the only Silver Fox alive."

Well, as far as Neoma knew.

There’s a woman from the enemy’s side claiming to be a Silver Fox, but it’s not like I had personally checked if she was really a Silver Fox or not. The crows are full of lies, and they have experimented on human lives before, so whatever.

"As I said before, the old emperor who hunted you down is long dead," Neoma said bluntly. Ah, dammit. Aside from her body suddenly feeling heavy, a splitting headache was now killing her. Even so, she focused on the Silver Foxes in front of her. "Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to forgive the de Moonasterios. You can hate us all you want since the blood of the old emperor runs in our veins. However, I’m afraid I have to ask you not to physically attack us. You can curse and glare all you want. But please refrain from physical attacks. I’m not confident I can defend myself without accidentally killing you."

The Silver Foxes flinched, and some of them even took a step back as if they were spooked by Neoma’s threat.

She didn’t mean to sound intimidating.

And she didn’t threaten the Silver Foxes either.

I just stated the truth— I’m not sure I can control my strength right now.

Especially now that Neoma’s stomach was starting to feel funny.

Why the fuck do I feel like my internal organs are being crushed?

Better to wrap this up for now.

"Anyway, we’ll explain everything..."

Neoma abruptly stopped talking, causing everyone to immediately look at her worriedly.

After all, it was rare for her to stop in the middle of her yapping.

She wanted to assure her friends and family that she was fine, but the metallic scent of blood hit her nose. At the same time, she also literally tasted blood in her mouth.

Oh.

Oh, shit.

Neoma didn’t only get a nosebleed— she also coughed up a huge chunk of blood, causing everyone her to panic.

Dammit.

She didn’t want to appear weak in front of anyone.

Thankfully, there was someone who knew her so well.

Ruto covered Neoma using his cape, and he literally put a soft barrier around them so that no one could come near her.

Of course, that earned his man sharp glares from her family.

But, as usual, Ruto remained unfazed.

The only thing my man is afraid of is losing me again.

"Neoma is fine," Ruto said indifferently. "I’ll take her to her room to rest— so, deal with the Silver Foxes on your own."

Neoma didn’t know who Ruto was talking to.

But before anyone could complain, the two of them were already gone.

Teleportation is really cool.

***

NEOMA felt like shit.

She was glad that Ruto immediately took her to her chambers.

Otherwise, she would have started vomiting in front of her friends and family.

And Nero would have reacted violently.

"Why?" Neoma asked weakly, slumped on the floor while Ruto was cleaning up after her mess. He was even holding her long hair, so it wouldn’t touch the pool of blood on the floor. "Am I dying, Ruto?"

"Yes, you are dying."

"Sometimes, I wonder if you really love me."

"Are you scared of dying? Why would you be? It wouldn’t be your first time."

Pfft.

Of course, Neoma could tell that Ruto was just messing with her.

My man just has a dark humor, everyone.

Moreover, she could tell that Ruto was scared because his hands were shaking while taking care of her.

Aigoo.

"Are you scared of me dying, Ruto?"

"I’m afraid of watching you die again," Ruto admitted casually, in a sincere voice. "But don’t worry. I won’t let you alone for so long, Neoma. The moment you’re confirmed to be dead with no way back, I’ll follow you immediately."

Pfft.

"This depressing talk suddenly made me feel better," Neoma said. Well, her insides still felt like it was being crushed by an unknown force. But it was bearable now. "Do you know why I’m sick?"

Ruto let out a sigh while shaking his head. "Neoma, you ate something you shouldn’t have, didn’t you?"

Oops~

***

NERO wanted to check on Neoma as soon as possible.

But Ruto left the Silver Foxes in his hands, hence he was forced to return to his office instead of heading straight to his twin sister’s room.

Well, to be fair, it was really his responsibility to take care of that matter as the emperor.

It’s a part of my job to clean up after the mess that my ancestors have created.

Tsk.

"Your Imperial Majesty, you summoned me?"

Ah.

Nero lifted his head and made eye contact with Dahlia, whom he summoned, indeed. "Trevor was looking for you earlier. What did he tell you?"

Dahlia looked confused at first, and then she nodded as if she remembered something important. "Mr. Trevor asked me to help the Silver Foxes adjust in this era in an efficient way, Your Imperial Majesty."

"Efficient way?"

"Lapiz, my Elemental Guardian, can show the Silver Foxes the passage of time," Dahlian explained gently. "After all, water holds memories."

Ah.

So, Trevor already knew that this would happen.

"Alright, then," Nero said, getting up from his seat. "Let’s head to the Silver Foxes, Dahlia."
