Chapter 765: Chapter 750: Dark Ambush (Part 1)

"Bang bang!" The explosive sound of gunfire cut through the restless snow night.

It also abruptly stopped the villa occupants who were tangled in the problem concerning Li Huiru.

Almost at the same time, the survivors’ hand-held radios crackled with Bi Dahu’s urgent voice: "Enemy spotted, they’ve breached the door! Over!"

With a clatter, everyone stood up, Old Xu sternly grabbed the microphone and inquired, "Dahu, how many people are there on the other side? Over!"

"About 7 or 8 people, over!"

"Old Lin!"

"Understood!" Liu Muhua anticipated Old Xu’s command and directed, "Everyone take your positions and prepare to face the enemy."

"Old Xu, is there anything you need me to do?" Liu Fugui, seeing everyone in the villa moving into action while he awkwardly stood aside, felt out of place.

Old Xu turned to glance at him, thought for a moment, and called out to Lei Tong, who was about to defend the door, "Lei, escort President Liu to the monitoring room upstairs. President Liu, since your legs are inconvenient now, please assist in observing the enemy situation from the monitoring room. Notify me promptly if there are any special circumstances."

Liu Fugui pushed away Lei Tong, who intended to support him, saying, "Old Xu, let Yunpeng help me upstairs, Little Lei should stay and defend the door, that’s the key area."

Liu Fugui’s goodwill was firmly refused by Old Xu; after all, he wasn’t a hundred percent certain of trusting Liu Fugui. If he were allowed to roam the villa, should he collude with the enemy and cause trouble from inside, that would be a big problem.

Hence, to prevent such circumstances, he had to arrange for Lei Tong to accompany him to the monitoring room. This way, any harmful intentions from the former could be avoided.

Moreover, Lei Tong’s skill in operating monitoring equipment could serve the villa effectively.

"President Liu, let Lei Tong go up with you; I need someone who can accurately understand local dynamics on standby. Once Lei monitors the enemy on-site, he can lead a team to execute special tasks during critical times, which is clearer than explaining through the radio later!"

Having said that Xu Renjie swiftly headed to the third-floor balcony, leaving Liu Fugui rare and taken aback to be admonished face-to-face. He quickly regained composure after a few seconds of surprise.

Simultaneously, Lei Tong reached out again to support him, "President Liu, time is tight, let’s go!"

The balcony door had just been opened when Old Xu sensed a bullet whizzing past his ear, prompting him to crouch down as he hurried to Hua Biao’s side, "What the hell is going on?"

Old Xu understood today’s weather was abysmal; spotting enemies in the thick snow curtain to provide early warnings was quite challenging. What perplexed him was why the enemy had attacked the villa door yet none of their surveillance posts detected them.

"These guys sent part of their force on foot to attack the door first; by the time I noticed them, the door had already been assaulted. Now, their main convoy has followed behind, and I counted roughly seven people. Captain, I truly apologize, it’s my lack of vigilance," Hua Biao said, full of self-reproach, but Old Xu knew it couldn’t be entirely blamed on him, and apologies were meaningless at this point.

One could only say Spring Xiu’s gang had wised up, learning from past failures; they abandoned overt aggression in favor of leveraging the night for a surprise assault, aiming to catch them off guard.

Currently, their tactics indeed seemed effective.

Spring Xiu, lurking at the rear, issued attack orders through his hand-held radio: "Clear all that damn wire on the door now, then rush in and take out everyone inside!"

Suddenly, gunfire roared again; the opposition came prepared, carrying necessary demolition tools derived from recent long-range observation of the villa’s defenses — wire cutters were among the tools used to handle the wired door.

Under this quick cut from their large tool, the door quickly lost its restraint and swung open smoothly.

Seizing this opportunity, Spring Xiu picked up his loudspeaker and shouted towards the villa: "Everyone inside listens up, drop your weapons and surrender obediently, and I’ll spare you; otherwise, don’t blame me for razing this place to the ground."

"Whoosh!" An arrow whistled through layers of snow, hitting the car door glass used for Spring Xiu’s cover.

"Crash!" The glass shattered instantly, startling Spring Xiu enough to stagger back a few steps, nearly falling to the ground.

Hu Xiaodong’s precise shot infuriated Spring Xiu, who, in a frenzy, gave orders to his troops over the radio: "Charge! Make sure all of those inside the villa are terminated."

With frustration, Hu Xiaodong sat down and pounded the wall beside him. He had calculated the wind speed and the force required for his previous arrow; theoretically, he should have hit Spring Xiu, but it seemed luck was on Spring Xiu’s side.

The heavy snow hindered Hu Xiaodong’s vision, causing him to mistake the raised window for an empty opening, thus not pulling the bowstring strongly enough. The arrow’s direction was correct, but upon hitting the glass, its speed significantly decreased, lacking the force needed to reach Spring Xiu.

Several shadows swiftly charged into the villa but were soon impeded by various fences in the courtyard.

Better laid plans can fall apart; originally, these fences placed by Old Xu’s crew were meant to obstruct vehicles, not people.

Exerting a little force generally suffices to move them aside. However, the overnight snowfall had buried the fence posts deep, posing great inconvenience to Spring Xiu’s men trying to move them.

Unable to move the fences, they couldn’t advance, and of course, Old Xu wouldn’t miss the rare opportunity to gather the enemy.

"Everyone, distract them! Ah Cheng, Little Hu, Little Wen, focus on sniping them! Over!" Old Xu’s strategy was simple; the enemy’s firepower exceeded theirs by a significant margin.

Yet, with superior numbers on their side, Old Xu’s arrangement could maximize the distribution of the enemy’s focus.

Ultimately, such a surprise attack amid dark night and snow could feasibly succeed; however, remember that nature is impartial — the severe weather impacts both the villa and Spring Xiu’s group, who also face obstructed vision.

Villa windows suddenly fired in several directions, with large stones, incendiary shells, and fragments thrown by survivors — while accuracy was debatable, their aim of deceiving and scattering enemy fire was decidedly achieved.

The confused Spring Xiu’s troops fired aimlessly at the indistinct villa floors, seeing it as nothing more than a shadowy wall with no clear markers.

Amid their panic and futile ammunition waste, the villa’s Archery Team struck.

Hu Xiaodong accurately felled a blindly shooting Spring Xiu aide, the crimson quickly coloring the snowy ground red.

Spring Xiu’s frontal attack plan was evidently shattered by the opposition; they soon retreated from the door. Just as Old Xu thought he could breathe easy, Liu Fugui’s voice came through the radio: "Captain Xu, there are two mice scaling the fence at the back of the villa; dispatch someone to snipe them! Over!"

"Copy, I’ll deal with it. Everyone else hold your positions, the front is where the main force is." Old Xu rapidly issued directives to each unit, emphasizing: "Leizi, stay in the monitoring room with President Liu; observe the monitor intently. If needed, I’ll assign tasks to you. Over!"
