Chapter 602: Entry Of A Third Person

Third Person’s POV

The moment he finished speaking, a heavy silence descended upon the circular study.

The atmosphere that had relaxed slightly after their previous conversation instantly became oppressive once more.

The old man’s expression darkened at a visible rate, and Ethan felt a strange chill crawl up his spine when he saw it.

For the first time since entering this tower, Dominic’s mask seemed to crack.

It was only for a moment, but Ethan felt as though he had glimpsed something that had remained hidden beneath countless years of smiles, schemes, and careful words.

A loathsome aura suddenly seemed to radiate from Dominic’s whole being.

It wasn’t mana, nor was it soul pressure, yet Ethan still felt an urge to frown and get away from this place.

The sensation was strange and difficult to explain.

It felt as if the old man sitting before him had suddenly become something ugly and something rotten.

Something that had been buried deep beneath the surface for a very long time had surfaced, and at that moment, Ethan felt certain that he had accidentally uncovered a very important secret.

He had a feeling that, behind all this scary, dark, and terrifying persona that he showed, this old man feared death very much, and it was similar to the fear that every living being possessed.

The simple mention of the word "kill" had exposed a side of Dominic that Ethan suspected very few people had ever witnessed.

The old man sat motionless in his chair, and his cloudy blue eyes were fixed upon Ethan.

His expression remained still, yet the look in those eyes made Ethan’s heart tighten involuntarily.

For a brief moment, genuine fear appeared in Ethan’s eyes.

Not because he thought Dominic would kill him.

Rather, because he suddenly understood that no matter what happened in the future, he could never truly trust this old man.

Even if Dominic helped him find his mother, even if Dominic removed every seal on his body, and even if Dominic offered him immense benefits, he could never be a true ally.

This old man was dangerous and far more dangerous than he had initially suspected.

And Ethan had just seen a glimpse of the darkness hidden beneath that harmless appearance.

"How dare she?"

The tense silence was suddenly shattered by a sweet and somewhat high-pitched feminine voice.

The loathsome atmosphere instantly disappeared, and it vanished so quickly that Ethan almost wondered whether he had imagined it.

At the same time, he acted as if he hadn’t noticed that foul aura of his just a moment ago.

His attention immediately shifted towards a tall bookshelf standing near one of the walls.

A hidden door concealed beside it had opened.

In the next moment, a beautiful young woman stepped out from behind it.

Seeing her, Ethan was genuinely surprised as he hadn’t expected anyone else to be present during their conversation.

The girl looked to be in her early twenties.

Her large, beautiful eyes possessed the same starry blue shade as Dominic’s, while her hair carried a similar unusual color as it seemed to radiate an otherworldly luster.

For a brief moment, Ethan felt as though he were looking at some fairy that had stepped out of an ancient storybook.

Everything about her appearance seemed unreal.

She looked completely out of place in the cold and ancient atmosphere of the tower.

At the same time, Ethan suddenly understood many things.

Throughout their conversation, Dominic had repeatedly leaned close to whisper in his ear whenever he discussed important matters, like the information about the true him.

Initially, Ethan had assumed the old man was simply trying to create an air of mystery.

Now he realized that wasn’t the case as Dominic seemed to have merely been hiding certain information from this young woman.

Especially the matter concerning his mother.

And the realization that Dominic did not want even this girl to know certain things only increased Ethan’s curiosity regarding the old man’s motives.

Meanwhile, the beautiful young woman looked furious.

"How dare that bitch even think about something so outrageous?"

The anger on her face seemed completely genuine.

Hearing her words, Dominic’s expression immediately softened.

The terrifying old monster Ethan had seen moments ago vanished completely.

In his place returned the smiling old scholar.

"Little Aunt, you don’t need to get so angry on my behalf. No matter how much they scheme, nobody can do anything to your nephew."

His tone even carried traces of amusement.

Hearing the way he addressed her and his tone, Ethan almost wanted to laugh as the difference between the Dominic from moments ago and the Dominic now was simply too absurd.

One moment, he had looked like an ancient monster hiding beneath human skin, and the next moment, he was behaving like a mischievous nephew.

The young woman immediately became embarrassed.

"Teacher, you don’t need to address me like that."

She hurriedly waved her hands.

"I am your disciple, and you are my master. That relationship is more important than anything else."

Dominic laughed loudly while stroking his beard.

Meanwhile, Ethan felt a headache coming on as the relationship between these two was so strange that he couldn’t even begin understanding it.

It was at that moment that the young woman finally turned towards him.

The instant her eyes landed on Ethan, she froze.

For several moments, she simply stared.

Her eyes widened slightly as they moved across his face, then towards his crimson eyes, then tracing his long violet hair that had come undone from its ponytail after he struggled against the old man, and then finally going over his entire figure.

Wonder filled her gaze, but then curiosity followed shortly after.

The entire time since discovering him beneath the Aurora Mountain Range, Ethan had remained unconscious, and she had never actually seen him awake.

She had never gotten the opportunity to talk to him, even though he was supposed to be the treasure she had intended to find in her treasure hunt expedition.

A small part of her mind insisted that he was supposed to belong to her and was her rightful property, and now that he was finally standing before her, she seemed completely fascinated.
