Chapter 583: Ethan’s Distaste
Third Person’s POV
Ethan looked directly into her eyes.
His crimson gaze was calm and cold, and there wasn’t the slightest trace of hesitation in his expression as he said in a firm voice,
"I will do things my way when it comes to killing the Ice Emperor’s grandnephew.
You are not to interfere with my methods, question my decisions, or offer me suggestions that I do not need."
A faint mocking smile appeared on his lips.
"In return, I will ensure that the connection between us remains completely secret."
The room became quiet for a moment, and Shixea’s face twitched ever so slightly.
Although the request itself wasn’t unreasonable, the tone in which he delivered it made her feel annoyed.
The way he spoke made it sound less like a negotiation and more like he was giving her instructions.
Still, after a few moments of thought, she nodded.
"It will be done."
Seeing her agreement, Ethan remained silent.
Meanwhile, Shixea continued speaking.
"Also, within the next few days, we will arrange for you to enter the New Moon Magic Academy as a transfer student."
A faint smile appeared on her beautiful face as she explained further.
"You will be placed in the class of Elemental Sea Realm mages, and your identity will be that of a student transferred from one of the academy’s remote minor branches located in Dark North City."
She folded her hands gracefully before continuing.
"You may not know this, Young Master, but Dark North City is located at the very northern edge of this continent.
Beyond it lie only the deep and dangerous stretches of the Aurora Frost Mountain Range before the mountains eventually reach the sea."
Her voice remained gentle and patient.
"That region is wild, remote, dangerous, and largely unexplored.
Few people willingly travel there and even fewer return after venturing too deeply into the mountains."
A trace of confidence entered her expression.
"As a result, Dark North City is considered a backward frontier city that is not well known anywhere.
Most people in the Ice Emperor City have never even heard its name."
She smiled elegantly.
"Therefore, nobody will bother investigating your background.
Even if they become curious, tracing information from such a distant and insignificant city would require effort that most people simply wouldn’t consider worthwhile."
She explained the entire arrangement as though she had carefully prepared every detail specifically for his benefit.
Everything sounded flawless, and every possible issue seemed to have already been considered and solved beforehand by her.
However, what Shixea didn’t know was that she had once again managed to shock Ethan.
Although his face remained completely expressionless, countless thoughts surged through his mind.
Dark North City.
That city wasn’t unfamiliar to him.
In fact, it was one of the places he remembered most clearly, as that city stood only a few kilometers away from his family’s estate.
His castle had been hidden in the mountains behind it.
He had to descend the mountain and cross the snowy forest before he reached the city, and all of them belonged to his childhood memories.
For the second time today, Shixea had unknowingly mentioned something closely connected to his past.
First, it had been the New Moon Magic Academy, and now it was Dark North City.
The coincidence felt almost unreal.
It was as if invisible threads of fate were slowly pulling him back toward the life he had left behind years ago.
One by one, symbols of his childhood kept appearing before him, and even Ethan couldn’t help but feel slightly strange about it.
Still, he didn’t reveal any of his thoughts and merely nodded silently.
Seeing his reaction, Shixea assumed that he had accepted the arrangement and continued speaking.
"Now then, let us discuss our target and the details regarding our target—"
"I would stop you right there."
Her words were interrupted instantly, and Shixea blinked in surprise at the sudden interruption.
Ethan looked at her with an irritated expression while his voice carried obvious impatience.
"Tell me about him tomorrow.
He doesn’t seem like an easy target, so what difference is a single day going to make?"
He waved his hand dismissively.
"For now, let me rest."
As he said that, his eyes narrowed slightly.
"Enough has happened today."
As he finished speaking, Ethan casually made a gesture with his hand that was practically telling her to leave.
The action was so natural and dismissive that even Elis stared at him in disbelief at his dare of behaving so rudely towards the most beloved wife of the Ice Emperor.
Ethan truly had no desire to continue this conversation as he was already exhausted.
He had awakened after a long, unknown duration of unconsciousness, only to discover such transformations in his body.
He had learned that he had broken through to rank three in both of his paths of body strengthening and mana ascension and that his mana veins had been sealed.
He had fought a Sky Realm mage, and this time he had not struggled against them like before.
He had then been blackmailed, and he had spent what felt like hours listening to Shixea carefully hiding threats behind smiles and politeness.
Combined with her attempts to manipulate him and the superiority she unconsciously revealed whenever she spoke, Ethan genuinely didn’t want to hear another word from her.
At this point, every mask between them had already fallen, and neither of them was pretending anymore.
Therefore, he saw no reason to continue being respectful or diplomatic with her.
His reaction left Shixea completely stunned as she slowly turned toward Elis with an expression that practically screamed,
’I can’t believe this boy.’
’How can someone be this arrogant and this distasteful?’
Even Elis looked equally speechless.
Shixea herself felt both embarrassed and irritated.
In the end, she stood up gracefully and walked toward the door, with Elis following closely behind her.
However, the moment she stepped outside the room and the door closed behind her, the smile finally disappeared from her face.
