Chapter 366: Chapter 142: Sweep
Staring at the two ferocious exotic beasts, her heart leaped into her throat. She couldn’t help but silently pray for Yang Jing.
Liu Rou was also standing nearby, her delicate brows knitted together.
She had followed the Dragon Gate Martial Trial for years and had an exceptionally keen eye, allowing her to see the danger of Yang Jing’s battle at a glance.
The One-Eyed Giant Tiger specialized in strength; with its tough hide and thick flesh, its offensive power was immense.
The Spotted Shadow Leopard, however, excelled at speed and surprise attacks. It was agile and cunning. The two beasts complemented each other perfectly, and their combined combat power was far greater than a simple sum. They were much more difficult to handle than the two beasts the disciple from Fen Yang Peak had faced, effectively doubling the danger.
Liu Rou took a deep breath, silently cheering for Yang Jing.
After all, she and Yang Jing were disciples who lived in the same courtyard. They weren’t close, but there was no bad blood between them.
If Yang Jing could successfully enter the Inner Sect, then given their shared history in the courtyard, he might be able to help her in the future. For every reason, both practical and personal, she wanted him to win.
Jia Yuliang stood in the crowd, his expression incredibly complex as melancholy and regret filled his eyes.
When he had previously learned that Yang Jing only had a Lower-Eighth Grade Root Bone, he had subconsciously dismissed him.
On a daily basis, he merely maintained a superficial, nodding acquaintance with him. In private, he had long since stopped paying him any mind, even thinking that Yang Jing’s dedicated training would ultimately amount to nothing.
But who could have expected that this disciple with a Lower-Grade Root Bone, whom he had previously looked down upon, would shock everyone in the Dragon Gate Martial Trial, sweeping through the first three rounds to reach the fourth.
An outer sect disciple from Lingxi Peak, who was on good terms with Jia Yuliang, leaned in and asked in a low voice, "Senior Brother Jia, do you think Yang Jing can pass this fourth round? Those two exotic beasts, one strong and one fast, look far too dangerous."
Upon hearing this, Jia Yuliang let out a long sigh. He didn’t speak, only gazing at the high platform with a complicated expression.
A faint, inexplicable regret washed over him. He felt as if he had missed a major opportunity; if he had known Yang Jing possessed such strength, he certainly wouldn’t have been so dismissive.
But on second thought, he forcibly suppressed his regret, comforting himself. ’Yang Jing might not even pass this fourth battle. The fourth round of the Dragon Gate Martial Trial is not so easily cleared.’
If Yang Jing failed, he would remain just an outer sect disciple, unable to advance to the Inner Sect.
...
On the high platform.
The atmosphere was stretched to its breaking point.
One man and two beasts faced off, a battle ready to erupt at any moment.
Without the slightest warning, the One-Eyed Giant Tiger broke the stalemate. It let out a deafening roar as its massive body pushed off the ground, lunging ferociously toward Yang Jing with savage, unstoppable momentum.
Its enormous head dipped slightly, sharp fangs and massive claws aimed straight at Yang Jing. A palpable sense of power washed over him. This aura alone was far more formidable than that of the Single-Horned Black Bull, and the threat it posed to Yang Jing multiplied accordingly.
Immediately after, the Spotted Shadow Leopard also made its move.
But it didn’t charge rashly. Instead, its figure flashed as it silently circled to a distance, crouching low to the ground and lying in wait like a dark shadow.
Its sharp eyes locked onto Yang Jing, patiently searching for the perfect moment to strike, revealing its truly cunning nature.
Facing the pincer attack of the tiger and the leopard, Yang Jing’s expression grew solemn. The aura around him tightened as he stood on high alert, not daring to let his guard down for even a moment.
He knew clearly that the two exotic beasts—one strong, one fast—complemented each other. If he allowed them to tie him down, he would be forced onto the defensive. He had to end this fight quickly while constantly guarding against the Spotted Shadow Leopard’s surprise attacks.
As the One-Eyed Giant Tiger’s massive paw swiped toward him with a whistle of wind, Yang Jing’s eyes narrowed. The Inner Strength in his body surged, and the might of his Mountain-Shattering Fist erupted instantly. He clenched his right hand into a fist and slammed it mercilessly toward the incoming paw without a hint of hesitation.
He didn’t use his full power, only eighty percent of his strength. He intentionally held back the other twenty percent to guard against the lurking Spotted Shadow Leopard and prevent it from launching a sneak attack.
But even at only eighty percent, the power was immense. The surging Inner Strength from his mastery of three Transformation-level martial arts, combined with the indestructible body and fists forged by his Indestructible True Skill, produced a strike far beyond ordinary imagination.
Such power was enough to completely overwhelm an ordinary Martial Artist at the Peak of Transformation. Even against the One-Eyed Giant Tiger, a beast known for its strength, Yang Jing still held a clear advantage.
BANG!
With a deafening crash, fist and claw collided, and an immense force erupted at the point of impact.
The One-Eyed Giant Tiger’s massive body shuddered violently. It staggered backward several steps, its limbs flailing uncontrollably, and its feet slammed heavily onto the platform with a dull thud.
Its single, murky eye filled with incredulous shock. It could never have imagined that this young member of the Human Race, with a frame so much smaller than its own, could unleash such tyrannical power and knock it back by force.
Having landed a successful blow, a sharp glint flashed in Yang Jing’s eyes. He immediately moved to press his advantage, giving the One-Eyed Giant Tiger no chance to recover.
’If I can quickly finish off the strength-based One-Eyed Giant Tiger, the Spotted Shadow Leopard, which only has speed on its side, will be much simpler to deal with.’
He took a step, about to charge the One-Eyed Giant Tiger, when the situation suddenly changed.
The Spotted Shadow Leopard lurking in the distance was extremely cunning. It had been momentarily stunned when it saw Yang Jing knock back the One-Eyed Giant Tiger with a single punch, clearly not expecting his strength to be so astonishing.
Now, seeing Yang Jing about to pursue the One-Eyed Giant Tiger, it realized it could wait no longer. If it allowed Yang Jing to defeat the tiger, it would be in grave danger all by itself.
The Spotted Shadow Leopard immediately stopped lurking and shot forward with an explosive push of its legs, its speed so incredible that it became a black phantom, crossing dozens of feet in the blink of an eye to appear silently behind Yang Jing.
