Chapter 85: Chapter 85: A Call from a High School Classmate
Yun Zijin browsed for a while before finally deciding on what she wanted to buy.
Communicating with the sales associate and handling the transfer took less than twenty minutes in total.
Once all the payments were transferred, the day’s spending task was complete.
[Task: Spend ¥3,000,000.00 before midnight tonight. Completed.]
[Task Reward: 5x reward triggered. ¥15,000,000.00 has been deposited into the host’s savings card. Host has been rewarded with the primary piano skill.]
Yun Zijin’s eyes widened when she saw today’s task reward.
’I just heard Xia Jiajiao play the piano yesterday, and today it’s rewarding me with a piano skill. What is Randomly Spend trying to do?’
’Is it trying to make me compete with Xia Jiajiao? There’s no need for that.’
But Yun Zijin only gave it a passing thought and didn’t dwell on it.
’Whatever the reward, it’s better than nothing.’
After breakfast, Yun Zijin slipped into the workroom she used for making Rose Essential Oil.
However, she hadn’t been in there for long when Wang Minli came knocking on the door.
"Miss, your phone is ringing."
Her phone?
Oh, right. She hadn’t brought her phone with her when she came in.
"Come in."
With that, Yun Zijin paused her work.
Wang Minli entered with Yun Zijin’s phone, the ringtone still sounding.
Yun Zijin took the phone and looked at the caller ID with a bit of confusion.
Still, she answered it.
"Hello..."
"Hello, is this Yun Zijin?"
Yun Zijin hummed in affirmation. "This is she. What’s this about?"
"Alumni from our high school have organized a reunion in Dijing. I remember that you got into Dijing University, Classmate Yun."
"Not many people from our school get into Dijing University. Everyone is really looking forward to seeing you there."
The caller was Yun Zijin’s high school class president. She heard he had also gotten into a school in Dijing, though it certainly couldn’t compare to Dijing University.
Yun Zijin’s high school wasn’t particularly good; very few students even managed to pass the tier-one university entrance score. With her admission to Dijing University, Yun Zijin truly stood out from the flock.
Now that someone was organizing a reunion, it was no surprise that many people wanted to see this rare figure, Yun Zijin.
"A reunion? When and where? I can go if I’m free."
Yun Zijin’s relationship with her high school classmates was lukewarm at best. The class president only had her number because many class-related matters had required them to communicate.
The orphanage didn’t have much money, but to make contact easier, the director had gotten her a second-hand, off-brand phone.
It was now an old possession tucked away at the bottom of one of her trunks.
"This Saturday at Sijie Restaurant. We’ve booked it for lunch, so you just need to be there by 11 AM."
On the other end of the line, Wang Shuming felt that Yun Zijin sounded different from before.
But the thought was fleeting and he quickly dismissed it.
"Alright, I’ll keep it in mind. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up."
Yun Zijin really didn’t know how to make small talk with an old classmate she wasn’t close to.
"Oh... okay. Classmate Yun, you have to come!"
But Yun Zijin didn’t hear his last sentence. She had already pulled the phone away from her ear and ruthlessly ended the call.
When Wang Shuming came to his senses, he was staring at a "Call Ended" screen.
"Aunt Wang, I don’t have anything scheduled for this Saturday, do I?"
Wang Minli was her housekeeper, after all. Yun Zijin would usually inform her of her plans.
"No, you don’t. But you have an appointment with Miss Su on Sunday to go to the hot springs."
The implication was that if Yun Zijin had plans for Saturday, she shouldn’t schedule anything too far away. Otherwise, she wouldn’t make it back in time and would have to stand Su Mengyao up the next day.
"Okay, I understand. I’m going to a class reunion that Saturday. As long as there’s no conflict, it’s fine."
"Understood. I will remind you on Sunday morning."
As a housekeeper, Wang Minli was indeed conscientious and responsible.
"Then if there’s nothing else, you can get back to your work. Take the phone with you, too."
If her phone was nearby, Yun Zijin was afraid she’d get distracted and wouldn’t be able to finish the Rose Essential Oil she had planned to make today.
"Yes, Young Miss."
Wang Minli left the workroom, taking Yun Zijin’s phone with her.
********************
On the day of the reunion, Yun Zijin woke up naturally without an alarm.
Knowing that Yun Zijin was attending a class reunion, Cheng Jun, with Yun Zijin’s permission, entered her walk-in closet after she got up to pick out an outfit and accessories.
Seeing the starry-sky dress in the closet again, Cheng Jun was still struck by its beauty.
However, she knew Yun Zijin definitely wouldn’t wear it. With great effort, she tore her gaze away from the dress and began searching for an outfit suitable for a reunion.
By the time Yun Zijin returned after breakfast, Cheng Jun had already put together several ensembles, hanging them on separate hangers.
"Miss, which of these sets do you prefer?"
What clothes to wear, what makeup to use—it all required careful consideration.
Yun Zijin looked through them and chose a relatively casual shirt dress.
"This one. But could you swap the shoes for ones with a lower heel?"
Because her previous clients were all celebrities, Cheng Jun was accustomed to pairing outfits with sky-high heels.
But Yun Zijin wasn’t a celebrity and didn’t need high heels to enhance her figure, so stilettos were entirely unnecessary.
Although she had them in her closet, Yun Zijin almost never wore them.
Her daily makeup routine didn’t take long. By 10 AM, Yun Zijin had finished her makeup and was ready to leave.
Before heading out, Yun Zijin played a little game of "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" in the underground garage, and the choice fell on a red Ferrari LaFerrari.
Yun Zijin was speechless.
But since the choice was made, Yun Zijin wasn’t about to give it up just to be low-key.
Now that she had a system, she was going to do whatever made her happy.
Since it was a two-seater sports car, Yun Zijin decided to drive it herself.
Driving a supercar worth tens of millions for the first time, Yun Zijin felt a thrill of excitement.
After warming up the engine, she stepped on the gas and drove toward the garage exit.
Zero One and his men followed closely behind in their Randomly Spend-brand SUVs.
It had to be said, as expected of a Randomly Spend-brand SUV, its speed was in no way outmatched by the supercar.
Whether Yun Zijin accelerated or decelerated, the SUV managed to keep up.
Even in Dijing, a Ferrari LaFerrari was an extremely rare sight. Many passing cars rolled down their windows to look.
There were even some rich second-generation kids, out cruising in their own sports cars, who whistled in its direction when they saw it.
When Yun Zijin rolled down her window, Li Yue Xuan, in the adjacent Ferrari 488, felt his scalp tingle. He immediately stopped whistling, then silently slowed down to let Yun Zijin pass.
She arrived at Sijie Restaurant at 11:05 AM.
The appearance of a Ferrari LaFerrari at the entrance of Sijie Restaurant instantly attracted a great deal of attention.
Before getting out, Yun Zijin put on sunglasses. They would at least cover her eyes, so people she didn’t know well wouldn’t recognize her.
After exiting the car, Yun Zijin handed the keys to Zero One and told him to have someone park it.
"Damn! What kind of wealthy heiress is that!"
"She even has bodyguards with her. Is she afraid of being kidnapped in broad daylight?"
"Can someone really be that rich and that beautiful at the same time?"
"Wait, isn’t your focus off? Why would someone that rich show up here!"
Sijie Restaurant could, at best, be considered a mid-range restaurant. Most of the people who ate here belonged to the moderately well-off crowd.
