Chapter 441: Chapter 441: Fishing With Precaution

The following morning, the rumors had spread so much that people were walking around with weapons in hand even inside the house.

When Leng Pan walked out and saw this scene, she was shocked, but then gratified because the survivors at least had the self-preservation mentality.

This way, they won’t be reckless and put their lives in danger.

She wondered what the aliens had been up to all this time.

’It couldn’t be that the mutated fish and creatures were their doing?’ This thought crossed her and she thought it might be a possibility.

But she still remained silent because it wouldn’t change anything.

She just had to make sure those going outside took better security measures to avoid any accidents.

After all, even though there was danger in the water, there was also food.

In the apocalypse, nothing came easy. Every bite of food was fought with the lives of survivors.

So, they had no choice but to go out and hunt and catch fish.

Ouyang Jin had also heard about the encounter with the apex predator the previous night and volunteered to lead a team to hunt any more down and eliminate them.

"If we can reduce their numbers, then more survivors will have a chance to live once they go into the water to catch fish.

However, if we just leave them alone, things might become complicated."

"It’s not a big problem to eliminate those predators. But we can’t always be there for these survivors all the time. They have to learn how to fight and protect themselves when faced with stronger opponents." Leng Pan didn’t like the idea of protecting the survivors in their base like a hen protecting its chicks.

"Then how about splitting them into teams? The team could mix those who are strong and others who are weaker. This way, those strong can protect the weaker ones but it won’t be to the point where some fight while others hide. What do you think?" Momo asked, leaning on the wall with one leg stepping backwards.

"That’s a good idea. These people need to understand that the flood isn’t a blessing. All the food they eat comes from danger. Unless they face it themselves, they will never appreciate what we do for them."

Leng Pan’s gaze shifted to the people outside who were already loading their boats with nets and other fishing gear.

"Nothing in the apocalypse comes for free." Zaizai, who had just walked over spoke.

Lu Tao descended the stairs with his laptop in hand looking a little more serious than he usually is.

He had used his super vision to observe the surrounding area and marked on the map every spot he noticed with more fish than others.

"I marked the areas with more fish, but these are also the spots where those mutated creatures are more likely to appear." He explained to the people surrounding the exit made by removing a window on the eighth floor.

He opened his laptop and pointed out the areas he had marked.

"In that case, it can be confirmed that what we encountered last night wasn’t an isolated case. There are more mutated creatures out there." Leng Pan commented.

"Yes. So, those who go out should be careful." Lu Tao said solemnly.

A murmur spread through the group of people crowding the window.

Xu Man frowned.

"Does that mean fishing is no longer an option?"

"It’s still an option," Leng Pan replied calmly. "But not without precautions."

She turned to Lu Tao.

"Show them."

Lu Tao stepped forward and projected the map again on the screen. He showed the screen to everyone and explained.

"This is the pattern I found out last night," he said. "The mutated fish and possibly larger creatures are concentrated in specific zones."

He used his finger to point out several areas on the map.

"These zones are likely their territory... or nesting grounds."

"What does that mean?" One survivor in the crowd asked.

"Which means if you avoid these areas, the risk is lower," Lu Tao explained. "But not zero."

Leng Pan raised her hand to quiet everyone down.

"From today onward, all fishing activities must be done in groups of no less than five people. Each team must include at least two combatants with offensive abilities."

She paused for a moment before adding,

"And no one is allowed to go out at night."

The survivors felt that what she said was reasonable, so no one objected.

If they could fish and get food. There was no need to risk their lives.

However, Leng Pan wasn’t planning to let those creatures run amok.

She just didn’t want the survivors to act recklessly.

However, she and her elite team could go out and hunt those things.

By midday, the base which was still submerged in flood water had already adapted to the new rules.

Fishing teams had been organized and everyone had found a suitable weapon.

Even those who had never fought before began carrying simple tools for self-defense just in case they needed them. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

The opportunity to get food was filled with danger but no one backed out.

Leng Pan couldn’t help but smile when she saw this.

People had adapted from the initial fear of zombies to seeing them as a source of income and now they didn’t find them as scary anymore.

In fact, Leng Pan had reason to believe that if the aliens didn’t exist causing trouble behind the scenes, humans would already have adapted to living with zombies among them.

They just had to take action when they came across a zombie and collect crystal cores before going their way.

On the rooftop, Leng Pan watched as boats began to move out in organized groups.

Her gaze lingered on them for a moment before she turned away.

Lu Zhen, who had been observing her quietly, walked over.

"You don’t want to go out?" He asked softly, brushing aside a few strands of hair that had been blown to her face by the breeze.
