Chapter 535: The Wedding Day

When the Doom attacked me in Celestia’s memories, it left this purple mark on me. I asked the Truth Teller about this mark. What it revealed was that the being who marked me, the Doom, possessed the power of death and destruction. Upon coming into contact with a soul, it could see their destiny and the highest possibility of their death in the future.

Originally, I only had a high chance of dying on the 20th of February, but as Ume said, it was not necessary that everything in the prophecy would turn out to be true.

I might have even survived the Doomsday. That was, until I was marked by the Doom. By coming into contact with my soul, the Doom used its authority over death to turn my possibility of death into destiny. I looked into Celestia’s memories to find a way to change the prophecy, but ended up turning its possibility into certainty.

Since my fate was already sealed, I decided to give all the happiness I could offer to the two women I loved most in the remaining time I had. Nonetheless, I had not given up on living, not yet. There was still a flicker of defiance burning in my heart, a refusal to accept the end without a fight.

I swayed my hand, hiding the mark again with my yin energy before I buttoned up my shirt and went to the bed.

The next day was incredibly hectic. Prime took Aryan’s place in the battlefield to wipe out the remaining monsters, allowing him to return home. Together with him, I and Jay spent the whole day decorating the house and garden while Leena, Saya, Maa, and Sister Aisha were doing their ladies’ stuff with Nymeria and Ume. The air was filled with laughter, the clatter of decorations, and the scent of fresh flowers.

Obviously I was prohibited from entering the house. An entire array was cast on the mansion, blocking only me and my view to the inside. I must wait till the next day to meet them, which came rather quickly because of how busy we were doing the decorations.

"Here, buddy, Nymeria sent this for you," Aryan handed me a suitcase as he entered the farmhouse. The case was sleek, black leather, with a gold clasp.

I had just come out from the bathroom after a long fresh morning bath, my hair still damp, droplets of water trickling down my shoulders. I placed the suitcase on the table and opened it, my lips curling into a smile as I saw the contents within.

"She really went all out with the wedding dress," I chuckled as I took the dress out. The fabric was rich and heavy, the craftsmanship exquisite. Shifting my gaze to Aryan, I asked, "Bro, were the brides ready?"

"Mostly. Only their hair remained to be styled," Aryan revealed while wearing his own suit before the mirror, adjusting his collar. He gave me playful side eyes, knowing the reason behind my question, as he continued, "And I must say, they look no less than goddesses."

"Really?" I covered the distance between us in a split second and asked, "What were they wearing? Tell me more about it."

"Get ready, bastard," Aryan snapped, pushing me back with a grin. "Have some patience. You will see them soon."

"Tch, petty old man," I muttered, taking out the clothes from the suitcase.

I stood before the mirror once I was done wearing them. Nymeria had gone fully traditional with the aesthetics. The robe was of imperial design, a flowing ensemble of black silk beneath a deep crimson outer robe embroidered with intricate golden patterns and cloud motifs. The collars were high mandarins, and the robe was closed by crimson knot fastenings, giving the attire an air of nobility. An ornate black sash, secured by a gold belt, rested around my waist.

I tied my long raven black hair into a high half-ponytail, letting the remaining strands cascade freely down my back, with a few loose locks framing my face. As for accessories, a golden circlet rested on my forehead with a black ruby at the centre. Crimson tassel earrings completed the ensemble, giving me the complete appearance of an emperor from an ancient Chinese dynasty.

"These looks amazing," I said, amazed at how handsome I looked in the mirror. The reflection staring back at me seemed like a figure from a legend.

"Stop admiring yourself and come out," Jay shouted from the room’s entrance, his voice carrying a hint of urgency. "Do not become the first groom to appear after the bride."

"Surely not," I chuckled as I moved out, my robes flowing behind me with each step.

"Lady Nymeria, Lady Ume, I understand it is not the right occasion, but may I ask you two something?" Celestia asked, standing behind them before the large mirror as she styled Ume’s hair, her fingers moving with practiced precision. Nymeria was wearing her jewellery beside her, carefully placing each piece.

"What is it, Celestia?" Ume asked, the smile of excitement for this long-awaited occasion never leaving her face. Her pink eyes sparkled with joy.

"Ab-about Lord Taranis..." Celestia spoke in a hesitant tone, her voice dropping. "Are you not worried about the Doomsday?"

Ume’s eyes lowered, the smile vanishing from her face. Nymeria also froze from the words, her hands remaining hanging on her ears where she was wearing her earrings. The air in the room grew heavy.

"I apologise. I did not want to—"

"It is alright, Celestia," Ume shook her head, her voice steady. "We are worried about the Doomsday. So much that the fear of losing him is increasing with each passing day as the date comes closer. We also know why he suddenly proposed to marry us, even if his and Nymeria’s parents could not attend the ceremony."

"Then, should you not convince him to find a method to change the prophe—"

"He is showering us with all the love he has," Nymeria spoke up, cutting her mid-sentence, her voice firm. "The least we can do is accept it without opposition. Naturally, that does not mean we are giving up on him."

Her jaw tightened in determination as she declared, her creamy eyes burning with fierce resolve, "No matter what happens, we will not let anything happen to him."

Celestia remained speechless from the determination of these two women and the inner strength they possessed to smile while carrying so much inside them. She decided not to discuss this sensitive topic any further and ruin the mood. The joy of the day was too precious to be tainted.

She placed the veil over their faces, the translucent fabric cascading down like a waterfall of silk, and said, her hand resting on both of their shoulders, "The Lord will not be able to take his eyes off you, with how enchanting you two are looking today."

They rose from the seat as it was time for the ceremony now. Nymeria was just behind Ume and Celestia when suddenly her vision turned blurry, the sound growing distant. She felt as if she was under water, the world muffled and distant. Her foot slightly staggered as she stepped back, her hand reaching for the wall.

"Lady Nymeria," Celestia’s voice came from the front as she found Nymeria still standing behind.

"Yes, coming," Nymeria said as her senses returned to normal, the world snapping back into focus. She quickly moved forward, reaching beside Ume as they moved out of the room, the veil swaying with each graceful step.
