Chapter 598: Chapter 597- Preparatio-nah
Sitting in the same chair he had occupied for the past six hours, Adrian stared at the blank wall across from him.
The Deep Sea Prison.
The moment he finished comprehending the first lesson of dual chanting, the system transferred the information he needed most.
The key to preventing the destruction of a world.
At the moment, he was far too overwhelmed to speak.
From the information he had received, the creature guarding the Deep Sea Prison was a colossal squid-like entity with eight massive tentacles and a body designed to move through water the way a bird sliced through air currents, minimizing resistance to an almost unnatural degree.
The lore stated that the creature had been sent to swallow a planet’s core long before the existence of any Gods or Darkness.
Despite his curiosity, Adrian had been given little information regarding its origins. What he did know was enough to leave him unsettled.
The creature had been created to consume entire planets.
And yet, at some point in history, it had been repurposed as the gatekeeper of the prison where Nytharos was confined.
"Do those deities hold any authority over Thal’gor?"
That was its name.
A frightening one, if anyone asked him.
[No, Host. In fact, they didn’t have permission to imprison anyone within that prison either. However, they took advantage of the opportunity and the chaos caused by Darkness to seal away the Fragment. Thal’gor, after all, is one of this world’s gatekeepers.]
"Hmm... so they used the distraction, huh?"
If even the deities had resorted to exploiting a moment of chaos so they wouldn’t have to deal with the devil, then why had Nytharos expected Adrian to accomplish something like that?
"Only by defeating it can I obtain the remedy for that Eternal Flame."
Adrian let out another long sigh.
Back when he knew nothing about his opponent, he had been curious.
Excited, even.
Now, he was starting to regret learning so much about it.
The more he understood Thal’gor, the more absurd the challenge felt.
And he hadn’t even seen the creature with his own eyes yet.
Even so, Adrian couldn’t deny the unease creeping through him whenever he thought about what awaited him in the deep blue depths.
[Host, you need to understand that you cannot kill a sentinel that draws its power from the world itself. You only need to extract its essence during combat. And that essence can only be obtained by striking a specific location.]
"And what’s that?" Adrian asked almost immediately.
Knowing which part he needed to target would make planning an ambush far easier. His preparations would also be much more effective.
But...
[You will know once you get there.]
"..."
Another guessing game.
Adrian closed his eyes and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
Of course it couldn’t be that simple.
Still, he hadn’t been expecting that much help from the system anyway.
At least, now, he has a general direction he needs to take in order to at least draw its attention and think of a way of drawing its essence.
There was everything vague about the creature that’s why Adrian decided to keep what little information he had gained a secret from Ariana and the others.
He doesn’t want to worry them.
Not long afterward, Adrian slowly rose from his chair and stretched his arms and back.
Rolling his shoulder and tapping it with a fist, he let out a satisfied breath.
"I haven’t studied this much in a long while."
At the very least, he was thankful to the system for giving him the chance to learn something new.
And while doing so, he had also received valuable information regarding the challenge awaiting him.
[Host, isn’t it time you modified your stats and arranged your inventory?]
"Ah, right. My stats." Adrian nodded. "Let’s overhaul them completely."
He lowered himself onto the floor and examined the mess of a status panel he had put together.
Since he could freely modify the display, he decided to reorganize the parameters entirely.
[Name: Lockwood Adrian]
[Age: 23]
[Stats:
Str: A+
Spd: S
End: S+
Int: SS]
[MP: 223398/223398]
[HP: 2900/3000]
Adrian grinned.
"Sweet."
At his natural level, he was already as strong as Ariana.
With mana enhancement, however, he could surpass even Anabelle, as difficult as that was to believe.
Ever since awakening his Origin, his body had continued to absorb, adapt, and grow on its own.
Without training.
Without effort.
It simply kept evolving.
Now, getting to the inventory,
[Inventory:
Aqua Lance: Grade V -> 1
Cooling Disk: Grade II -> 10
Light reflector: Grade I -> 3
Power Gauntlers: Grade III -> 1
Teleportation Staff: Grade V -> 1
Golden Revolver: Grade III -> 1
Golden Bullets: Grade III -> 30]
Adrian hummed in appreciation. He has removed a few things recently, storing them away in his workshop since he wants to keep his inventory clear and hassle free.
He might put away the cooling discs and the light reflectors too and would only keep things of necessity by his side before he starts his journey.
He would need at least one more armament of high grade. Under the water, he didn’t know how well his independent sorcery would work so he would rather depend on what he has absolute faith in.
Yes, he has developed his magical skills recently but still, better to be cautious than sorry.
He would need to meet Allen and prepare a few healing artifacts too, alongside some artifacts with air elements that would help him move rapidly under the water.
He would need to think of the water pressure too. He couldn’t neglect that since who knows how deep he needed to dwell to find the behemoth.
Adrian sighed, "A lot to prepare and so less time."
He had so much work ahead that if he started now, he wouldn’t stop for the next few days...
...and yet, what exactly did he exactly decided to do with all the pending work?
"Let’s go on a date with girls." With a smile, he jumped out of the time chamber, intending to spend the day with his beloved lovers.
