Chapter 1949: Chapter 1796: Growing Suspicion (Part 2)

He drove the car up and stopped right in front of the Q7.

Dongfang Yun was stunned to see a car suddenly appear, and then she was even more surprised when she saw Song Yun get out of the car.

Song Yun took down the tow rope, secured one end to the rear of the Wrangler, walked over to the Q7, and said to Dongfang Yun, "I’ll help you."

Dongfang Yun remained silent for a moment, then stepped aside.

Song Yun secured the other end of the tow rope to the hook on the front of the Q7 and said to Dongfang Yun, "Get in the car and steer. I’ll tow your car forward."

"Okay."

Dongfang Yun nodded and got into the car.

Song Yun helped Dongfang Yun’s Q7 get free, then put away the tow rope and got back into the Wrangler.

Dongfang Yun got out of the car, caught up, and knocked on Song Yun’s window: "Thank you."

Song Yun smiled and said, "You’re welcome. I told you, I’m a good person. Besides, you could’ve easily lifted the Q7 to get it unstuck with your bare hands—I believe you have that strength."

As he spoke, Song Yun winked.

In fact, after reaching ss-level, although Song Yun had never tested it, he estimated his strength to be at least thousands of pounds.

So lifting a car is a piece of cake for them.

Sure enough, upon hearing Song Yun’s words, Dongfang Yun looked embarrassed: "I forgot."

Upon hearing this, Song Yun knew his guess was correct.

Dongfang Yun’s level had indeed reached ss-level.

"Actually, you should change to another car. The Q7 is okay for regular off-roading, but it’s hard to venture into the deep mountains."

Song Yun chuckled and said, "I’m going ahead."

After speaking, he drove the Wrangler forward.

However, his speed was not fast, intentionally waiting for the Q7 ahead.

Thus, the two proceeded towards the deep mountains, one in front and one behind.

After traveling about twenty kilometers, the road became increasingly rugged, with height differences reaching half a meter on both sides.

The Q7, being a city SUV, was now completely stuck; it simply couldn’t handle such roads.

Seeing Dongfang Yun getting out of the car again to lift it, Song Yun felt a bit helpless.

He stuck his head out the window and shouted back, "Dongfang Yun, if you don’t mind, why not ride with me?"

Dongfang Yun, who was lifting the car, stopped, looked at Song Yun, then released the car.

Boom.

The Q7 fell heavily, the undercarriage hitting with a loud noise.

Dongfang Yun took two bags from the car and walked over to Song Yun’s Wrangler, then got into the passenger seat.

"Thank you."

She thanked Song Yun again, then asked, "Where are you going?"

"Just out for some adventure travel; wherever we end up is fine."

Song Yun casually replied, as he drove, glancing at Dongfang Yun and asked, "And you?"

Dongfang Yun glanced at Song Yun, looking forward, and said, "I’m looking for a place."

Hearing this, Song Yun’s heart skipped a beat. As expected, she was also looking for Taoyuan.

But how did she know about this place?

Could she also have a map?

Is her map the same as mine, or is it the other half?

Song Yun’s mind was flooded with questions.

However, his facial expression didn’t change, and he laughed: "This is truly interesting; in these deep mountains and old forests, is there some peculiar place you’ve been to before?"

"Someone mentioned that place to me, so I came to try my luck."

Dongfang Yun deliberately said she was looking for a place, initially hoping to pick up some clues from Song Yun’s expression, but she was disappointed.

Song Yun continued: "Although you know martial arts, as a girl entering the deep mountains alone, it’s somewhat inappropriate; doesn’t your family worry about you?"

Both were harboring their thoughts, and Dongfang Yun naturally knew Song Yun was testing her.

"My family told me to come."

Dongfang Yun looked out the window, seemingly nonchalant, but her eyes were fixed on the rearview mirror, watching Song Yun’s reaction.

Song Yun laughed: "Interesting, your family told you to come, but do they know what kind of place this is?"

Dongfang Yun replied carefreely: "They don’t know, just said it’s a very interesting place. If I find it, I find it; if not, then never mind."

Song Yun said: "Oh, since I’m also unsure of where I’m heading, why don’t we go together?"

"Of course."

Dongfang Yun immediately agreed.

Her decisiveness surprised Song Yun.

Even Dongfang Yun herself was a little surprised.

She typically remained vigilant, but today, while being with Song Yun, she felt very relaxed, even agreeing to travel together, which was simply unbelievable.

But since she agreed, her mind wasn’t changed.

Besides, she also wanted to travel with Song Yun to probe his background.

Naturally, she knew Song Yun was also probing her.

Both harbored their thoughts, remained vigilant, yet felt a bit fond of each other as they continued forward.

On the way, the two engaged in casual conversation.

Initially, Song Yun led the discussion, and as they talked, Song Yun discovered that while Dongfang Yun appeared aloof, once familiar, she was quite talkative.

They chatted happily about all sorts of topics, with Dongfang Yun speaking more, while Song Yun mostly listened.

About twenty kilometers further, they reached a half-meter-wide log bridge, with a five-meter-deep ravine below. Despite the Wrangler’s off-road prowess, it couldn’t cross here.

To Song Yun’s surprise, in the pine forest ahead of the log bridge, three off-road vehicles were parked.

A Jeep Wrangler, a Land Rover Defender, and a Mercedes G500, one of each.

These vehicles were covered in moss, dust-filled, and the roof of the Land Rover Defender even had a half-meter shrub growing on it.

It was clear these vehicles had been driving in the mountains for a long time, possibly parked here for a long period.

"Looks like there are some explorers here."

Song Yun parked his car there as well, took the bag from the car, and said to Dongfang Yun: "Let’s go, we’ll walk."

"That’s the only option."

Dongfang Yun nodded, picked up her bags, and crossed the log bridge with Song Yun, continuing into the forest.

The deep mountains had yet to be entered; this was just the early forest area. They still had to walk fifty kilometers to reach the heart of the mountain range.

The Qinglong Mountain Range, while having a vacation area, still maintained its original ecology deep within, with sunlight dappling through the foliage, creating beautiful scenery.

Birds chirped crisply in the brush, and occasionally, two squirrels appeared, curiously looking at Song Yun and Dongfang Yun.

On this journey into the depths of the Qinglong Mountain Range, Song Yun and Dongfang Yun seemed to be on a leisurely tour.

As for the rugged mountain paths, they tread easily, not feeling tired and were able to enjoy the light-hearted travel mood.

At a normal pace, they walked for about two hours, with the surrounding trees growing taller and the brush denser.

Deep within the forest, even the occasional roar of a black bear could be heard.

"Looks like we’re entering the deep mountains."

Song Yun remembered the map in his mind; not far ahead was an important fork.

On the map, the fork was only half shown.

To know the next direction, both maps had to be combined.

Otherwise, guessing would be the only choice.

Song Yun glanced at Dongfang Yun, pondering whether to be upfront with her and compare their maps, hoping they might match.

"There’s someone ahead."

Just as Song Yun was contemplating, Dongfang Yun suddenly pointed forward.

"There’s someone ahead."

Dongfang Yun pointed ahead and shouted.

Song Yun followed the direction of Dongfang’s finger, amidst the forest obscuring the view, about five hundred meters away, there were roughly seven or eight figures sitting together.

His gaze pierced through the gaps in the trees and focused, only to see that area was equipped with several tents, gas cylinders, boilers, electric lamps, satellite receivers, and various items alongside, completely equipped.

Around, there was a fence enclosing the camp, with large black bags for trash outside, suggesting these people had been here camping for a long period.

Moreover, these people were all dressed in camouflage, with sharp knives on their waists; though guns weren’t seen, they appeared more professional and exuded an aura of toughness.

"What are these people up to?"

Song Yun felt a sense of suspicion.
