Chapter 1915: Chapter 1769: Dad, Mom (Part 2)
Sure enough, the vehicle in Song Yun’s hands still managed to deliver strong performance.
After sending Shen Yan back, Song Yun returned home.
The next day, Mo Yuyao shyly approached Song Yun, asking if he could go back with her.
Song Yun thought about it and realized he hadn’t met Mo Yuyao’s parents yet.
So, Song Yun agreed to Mo Yuyao’s request, initially planning to put on some flair because he was going to meet her parents, but Mo Yuyao was adamantly against it. So, the two boarded a plane to Sunan.
Since this time he was accompanying Mo Yuyao for a family visit, Song Yun didn’t inform the Shura Alliance group.
Mo Yuyao’s family conditions are quite average; her parents and a group of uncles live in a courtyard house, not exactly in the city center, but outside the third ring.
Arriving at Mo Yuyao’s family door, Mo Yuyao knocked on the big iron gate.
Dang, dang, dang
"Coming, coming." A woman’s voice echoed from inside.
The iron gate opened, revealing a plump woman in a flamboyant dress, wearing a gold necklace but visibly rustic.
"Fourth Aunt."
Mo Yuyao nodded with a smile, greeting the woman.
"Yu Yao, you’re back!"
As soon as Fourth Aunt saw Mo Yuyao, her face was filled with smiles.
But there was some insincerity, a hint of flattery and sycophancy, even a bit of cunning, not the kind of affectionate smile upon seeing a niece.
Then, Fourth Aunt turned to look at Song Yun, her gaze filled with uncertainty.
Mo Yuyao introduced, "Fourth Aunt, this is my boyfriend, Song Yun."
"Hello, Fourth Aunt." Song Yun greeted.
As soon as she heard ’boyfriend,’ Fourth Aunt frowned slightly, a look of caution flashing in her eyes, then she smiled and waved, "Come, Xiao Song, have a seat inside."
The three entered the courtyard together; previously blocked by the walls, they couldn’t see inside, but now that they’re in, Song Yun finally saw the setup.
The entire small building was divided into four standalone units, each with its door, likely for the Mo family’s four branches, one household per unit.
They walked into the one in the middle; Mo Yuyao had a key and walked right in.
The furnishings in the living room were simple; although the furniture was clean and tidy, it was very old, and the TV was an old model too.
Mo Yuyao certainly isn’t lacking money now, but it seems her parents haven’t changed their lifestyle habits and remain thrifty.
After Song Yun and Mo Yuyao sat down, Fourth Aunt said to Mo Yuyao, "Second Brother and Second Sister-in-law are at school, and so are the Elder Brother and others; I’ll go notify them. They’ll be delighted to know you’ve returned."
After saying this, Fourth Aunt turned and left.
Fourth Aunt had just left for less than a minute when a man in a white shirt, red tight pants, and brown leather shoes strode in.
The man was around thirty-seven or thirty-eight, with shifty eyes, looking around sneakily the moment he entered the room.
"Fourth Uncle."
Mo Yuyao called out.
"Yu Yao’s back!"
Fourth Uncle smiled sneakily, his eyes fixating on the gifts Mo Yuyao brought back.
He didn’t care about Song Yun and Mo Yuyao being there, just walked over to pick and choose, muttering, "Yu Yao, it’s good that you’re back, why did you bring so many gifts for your Fourth Uncle? It’s making Fourth Uncle feel quite uncomfortable."
Fourth Uncle spent some time selecting from the pile of gifts Mo Yuyao brought, grabbing all the ones with beautiful packaging and high-quality feel for himself.
"Yu Yao, you’re so considerate, Fourth Uncle will take these back to my room first, and I’ll come back to chat with you later."
With a look of gratitude, Fourth Uncle picked up the items and walked out.
Mo Yuyao brought back quite a few gifts, but Fourth Uncle took at least half of them, leaving less for others to share.
This person’s thick skin is evident.
Unexpectedly, as he took just one step, he stopped and his gaze fell on a packaged box.
"Neck massager!?" Fourth Uncle’s eyes lit up. He picked up the box and walked out without looking back, laughing as he said, "This thing is great, thanks."
What the hell, this is too much.
Song Yun cursed internally. He had heard from Mo Yuyao that her mother had cervical spondylosis, and this massager was something Mo Yuyao specifically bought for her mother. Now it had been taken by Fourth Uncle.
Though Song Yun was displeased, he didn’t say much, as it was a matter for Mo Yuyao’s family.
With both hands full, Fourth Uncle strolled out proudly.
Mo Yuyao sighed lightly, shaking her head in secret.
Song Yun heard Mo Yuyao sigh and turned his head, asking, "Tell me about your Fourth Uncle’s family. Something seems off."
"Family shame shouldn’t be spread, but since you’re one of us, I’ll tell you."
Mo Yuyao was a bit frustrated and wanted to vent, so she explained, "My Fourth Uncle is the youngest among my dad’s generation. He was pampered by my grandparents since childhood. Although the family was poor, all the good stuff went to my Fourth Uncle. Everyone in the family treated Fourth Uncle the best."
"But my Fourth Uncle is just hopeless, idling away all day, and he even married a woman as lazy and mean as he is. Together, they’re the parasites of the Mo family. When my grandparents were alive, they always supported them. The money my dad, my eldest uncle, and Third Uncle gave to my grandparents all ended up with Fourth Uncle’s family. Everyone knew about this but didn’t expose it, pretending it was helping Fourth Uncle."
"Who knew Fourth Uncle would do something even worse. When grandpa passed away, Fourth Uncle stole the money saved for the coffin and went gambling in the county, losing it all. Grandma found out and died from anger. In the end, both grandparents shared a funeral, leaving the whole village in regret, and no one welcomed Fourth Uncle after that."
Upon hearing this, Song Yun frowned and commented, "Your Fourth Uncle is such a worthless person."
Mo Yuyao gave a bitter smile and continued, "Even so, my dad and his brothers are family to Fourth Uncle, and they eventually forgave him. However, Fourth Uncle felt no remorse, remained idle, and mingled with hooligans in town, doing all sorts of petty thefts."
"Is he still doing that now?" Song Yun asked.
Mo Yuyao smirked awkwardly and said, "Not anymore. After this house was built, his family moved in. Every month, part of the money I send to my parents goes to him. He lives as carefree as anyone can."
Song Yun commented, "Your dad really cares for him as a brother. He’s still teaching at school, while his brother does nothing and yet has food, a place to live, and money to spend."
Mo Yuyao said, "They’re brothers, after all. Blood is thicker than water. Now that life is easier, no one bothers to criticize Fourth Uncle anymore."
"Life is better, thanks to you." Song Yun shook his head and remarked, "From the way your Fourth Uncle took the gift earlier, he didn’t show a bit of gratitude."
While they were talking, a middle-aged couple dressed like teachers walked in.
The man looked a bit old, but his demeanor clearly marked him as a lifelong educator.
The woman wore a hat, wiped her hands on a towel in the yard, and looked at Mo Yuyao with delight.
"Dad, Mom."
Mo Yuyao called out and happily went to greet her parents.
Mo Xiang hurriedly said, "Yuyao, don’t come over, let me wash up and change clothes first."
Gong Xingqin sneaked a glance at Song Yun, her eyes brightening, and whispered to Mo Yuyao, "Yuyao, who is this?"
"Dad, Mom, have a seat first, let me introduce you."
Ignoring the dirt on her parents’ hands, Mo Yuyao pulled them to sit down and introduced, "Song Yun, these are my dad and mom."
Song Yun stood up, respectfully bowed, and said, "Hello, Dad and Mom."
Dad and Mom!?
Even though they were mentally prepared, Mo Xiang and Gong Xingqin were still taken aback by this address. Being intellectuals, they quickly calmed down.
Mo Yuyao’s face blushed slightly, and she scolded, "Song Yun, what are you calling, we aren’t married yet."
Gong Xingqin tugged her daughter, saying, "Why are you making a fuss? Marriage is just a matter of time, isn’t it?"
"Exactly, exactly."
Mo Xiang, being a straightforward man, nodded repeatedly.
The couple beamed with joy at the news of their daughter’s impending marriage.
