Chapter 658: Chapter 661 The Nine Winding Yellow River and Endless Sands [1st Update, Please Subscribe]
The little one deftly took the Divine Pen and, with utmost care, dipped it into the Divine Beast’s blood, which was infused with boundless Spiritual Energy and shimmered with the phantom of a Phoenix. Using the Divine Blood as ink, she began to draw on the smooth back of her delicate little hand. An ordinary pen stained with Divine Beast blood would have been destroyed instantly. This pen, however, was protected by a sphere of Divine Light; the formidable power of the Divine Blood couldn’t damage it in the slightest.
Every sharp and focused gaze settled on this detail. Suddenly, the entire space fell silent, and the atmosphere grew intensely peculiar. All eyes widened, staring fixedly at the unassuming brush held in the little one’s pale hand. Those who had just claimed the pen was unworthy of the Divine Beast’s blood felt their faces sting with shame.
"A Divine Pen! It was dipped in a Divine Beast’s blood without the slightest harm. This pen must be extraordinary."
"That’s an understatement."
"What kind of pen is it, exactly?"
"In the rankings of Formation Pens, could it possibly be one of the top ten?"
Yang Ziwei and the other Array Masters all took a deep breath, buzzing with discussion. As the saying goes, Martial Artists love their Divine Weapons, and Array Masters are no exception. To an Array Master, good ink and a good pen are their Divine Weapons, precious as life itself.
They thought they would never see the blood of a Divine Beast in their lifetimes. Yet here they were, witnessing it firsthand. And to see this Divine Pen as well, how could they not be excited? How could they not tremble? In their eyes, this was definitely one of the top ten pens in the Formation Pen rankings. However, their knowledge was too limited to identify which of the top ten it was—a fact they found deeply regrettable.
How can this be... How can this be... Feng Li clenched his teeth, struggling in vain to calm his turbulent emotions. Ink and a pen like these... it was the first time in his life he had ever seen such things. His Feng Family, one of the founding families of the Array Masters Guild, possessed no such treasures. His own ancestor’s Formation Pen was ranked a mere twelfth. How could this little girl possibly possess such a pen to inscribe Formation Patterns?
No, no, no! I haven’t lost yet! Feng Li bit down hard, reaffirming his confidence in his Six Cauldrons Abyssal Array.
"We must thank you, Mister Wu Tian, for allowing us to witness the Divine Beast’s blood and this Divine Pen today," Yang Ziwei said, bowing to Wu Tian. The Array Masters behind him did the same. They had dedicated their entire lives to the path of Formations, to which they were utterly devoted. Unlike other Array Masters, they had established their branch guild for the true purpose of helping the art of Formations flourish and achieve glory. Over millennia, the Array Masters had gradually split into two factions. The first believed that Formations should be used to benefit humanity. The second felt that as their art grew ever stronger, the time had come for them to dominate the world.
"Thanks for what? We don’t even know where he got that Divine Beast’s blood and Divine Pen," another Array Master behind Feng Li clamored. "Maybe they were stolen! And so what if you have Divine Blood and a Divine Pen? Your Formation is nothing compared to the Six Cauldrons Abyssal Array!" He was clearly unable to accept this turn of events. He idolized his contemporary, Feng Li, and wanted him to always be in the limelight. He was even willing to die for him.
"Die," Wu Tian said indifferently.
A Blood Glow swept past, granting the man’s wish. Blood splattered everywhere as the corpse was hacked beyond recognition.
Wu Tian stated coolly, "I already said this is a contest of Formations. No more pointless chatter."
"You—" Another Array Master behind Feng Li couldn’t stand it any longer, but before he could utter more than a single word, the Blood Glow flashed again, ending his life.
Feng Li and the remaining Array Masters behind him were stunned into silence, not daring to speak recklessly again. Though they said nothing, Feng Li and his followers were still indignant. Go ahead, keep protecting your daughter, they thought. She’s going to lose anyway.
"Open your eyes wide and watch closely," the little one announced, finally grasping the Divine Pen in her right hand, ready to begin etching the Formation Pattern on the back of her left hand.
Seeing this, Yang Ziwei grew curious. What kind of Formation Pattern could this child possibly inscribe?
As for the Array Masters on Feng Li’s side, with two of their own already slain by Wu Tian, they dared not speak aloud. Inwardly, however, they scoffed. She’s so young, what powerful Formation could she possibly know? It’s a guaranteed loss. Little kid, just don’t start crying later.
The little one could easily guess their thoughts. With a sweet smile, she said, "And now, it is time to witness a miracle."
Feng Li snorted but still didn’t dare to speak, thinking only that this child was far too arrogant. Just hurry up and inscribe the Formation Pattern already! After all this showing off, it’ll be quite a spectacle if you fall flat on your face.
Finally, the little one began to move her hand, inscribing the Nine Bends Yellow River Array. When only a third of the Formation Pattern was complete, Yang Ziwei suddenly exclaimed, "What a formidable Formation!"
"What is it?" the Array Masters behind him asked.
"Feel it carefully," Yang Ziwei said gravely. "The Formation is not yet complete, but you can already hear the sound of a mighty river."
Hearing this, the Array Masters all closed their eyes to listen intently. Feng Li and his followers couldn’t help but do the same. And indeed, they heard the sound of a surging river. They could not see the great river, yet they could somehow envision it—a yellow river nurturing countless lives. It was like a Sacred Land, revered by all. At the same time, with their eyes closed, they also seemed to see a sky filled with flying sand. They immediately opened their eyes.
Feng Li and his group said nothing, but they were shaken to the core. What in the world is this Formation?
Yang Ziwei said gravely, "This Formation possesses such power with only a third of it complete. It is not simple, not simple at all. When it is finished, it might very well rival the Six Cauldrons Abyssal Array."
"Bullshit!" Startled by Yang Ziwei’s statement, Feng Li couldn’t help but blurt out, "Impossible! Among Sixth Rank Formations, the Six Cauldrons Abyssal Array is invincible!"
Despite his words, his heart was in turmoil. The Formation Pattern is only a third complete, yet it already evokes such a majestic aura. If this Formation is finished...
At the same time, Feng Li glanced at the young girl before him. She’s only four or five years old... Heavens, is this some kind of mistake? A child of four or five actually knows such a powerful Formation? The realization struck Feng Li like a physical blow. No, I cannot lose. I absolutely cannot lose to a child! Otherwise, wouldn’t I bring complete and utter disgrace upon the Feng Family?
Just then, however, the little one suddenly spoke up. "Step right up, don’t miss out! My Formation is about to be complete!"
Her pen began to move as swiftly as a striking dragon, inscribing the pattern with incredible speed. In the next moment, the Formation Pattern on the back of her hand was finished. It was a Phoenix Formation Pattern. Around the Phoenix, marks depicting the flowing Yellow River gave it a beautifully aesthetic appearance. Because it was inscribed with Divine Blood, the Formation Pattern could be concealed at will, unlike those of others that remained permanently on the skin like a tattoo.
"Come on, let’s see who’s stronger," the little one said, brimming with fighting spirit as she extended a finger and beckoned to Feng Li. "Let’s see whose Formation is more powerful. Do you dare? Whoever backs down is a puppy."
