Chapter 68: Chapter 68: What’s It to Me?

Qin Tuo knew Wang Lei was clearly making things difficult for him on purpose.

But on second thought, it didn’t matter. As far as Qin Tuo was concerned, he had every reason to help the company collect these debts.

After all, he had a pretty good relationship with Chen Man Ni. He definitely couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.

Seeing that Qin Tuo wasn’t saying anything, Liu Ping cradled his head and started to complain.

"Sigh... I’m so unlucky. I’ve only been here a few days, and I’m already about to get fired."

Qin Tuo found himself wanting to laugh at Liu Ping’s constant sighing. He patted him on the shoulder.

"Relax, kid. We’ll definitely get all this money back."

Liu Ping was speechless.

"How is that possible? Didn’t you see those clients? Every last one of them is tough to deal with. There’s no way we can get the money back."

Qin Tuo said with confidence,

"You have to have some faith in yourself. At the very least, we can’t let these guys look down on us, right?"

But Liu Ping’s expression was full of doubt. He thought Qin Tuo was just daydreaming.

"Qin Tuo, what you’re saying is completely unrealistic. I still think we’ll probably be fired in less than two days."

Qin Tuo chuckled.

"How will you ever know if you can do it if you don’t even try?"

Seeing Qin Tuo’s persistence and determination, Liu Ping felt encouraged and gradually stopped complaining.

He nodded and said earnestly,

"Yeah, you’re right. Let’s give it our all and fight to keep our jobs here!"

Seeing Liu Ping’s confidence return, Qin Tuo nodded with a satisfied smile.

Qin Tuo spent almost the entire day familiarizing himself with the accounts.

People came and went, but no one took the initiative to greet Qin Tuo.

It was a stark contrast to the lively welcome he had received earlier.

Many were even whispering and gossiping nearby, making all sorts of mocking comments and intentionally raising their voices so Qin Tuo could hear.

But as far as Qin Tuo was concerned, these people didn’t even exist. He simply focused on the work before him.

Before he knew it, the day had flown by, and it was time to clock out.

"Great work today, Qin Tuo. Head on home and get some rest!"

Liu Ping stretched, called out a greeting, and prepared to leave.

"Yeah, you too."

By the end of the day, Qin Tuo had a pretty good impression of Liu Ping.

The kid was timid, but he was honest and diligent in his work. Qin Tuo had high hopes for him.

Just as everyone in the sales department was getting ready to leave, Wang Lei suddenly walked in.

When Wang Lei entered, the group of employees couldn’t help but look over in anticipation. Then, their gazes shifted to Qin Tuo, their eyes holding a strange, knowing smile.

Wang Lei walked forward, a wide smile plastered on his face.

"Ah, Qin Tuo. Heading out for the day? How was your first day?"

He looked for all the world like he was incredibly concerned and enthusiastic about Qin Tuo’s well-being.

But Qin Tuo knew the guy was a complete "smiling tiger"—a friendly-faced enemy. So he replied casually,

"It was fine. What’s up? If there’s nothing, I’m going to head out."

Wang Lei chuckled, revealing his true motive.

"Ah, Qin Tuo, according to company regulations, since you’re new and it’s your first day, you’re required to treat the entire sales department to dinner tonight."

Qin Tuo looked skeptical.

"Oh? And what kind of rule is that?"

Beside him, Liu Ping leaned in and explained in a hushed whisper,

"It’s an unwritten rule in our department..."

Qin Tuo laughed. ’What a bizarre rule.’

Liu Ping’s face was a mask of misery as he recalled,

"When I first joined the sales department, I had to treat everyone to dinner. It cost me two months’ salary, and I still haven’t paid off that debt!"

After speaking, Liu Ping didn’t dare utter another word.

The entire room of salespeople stared at Qin Tuo, waiting for his response.

Qin Tuo was left speechless. He turned directly to Wang Lei and said,

"Isn’t a rule like that just hazing the new guy?"

Clearly, Qin Tuo had no tolerance for such an arbitrary rule and had no intention of complying.

Wang Lei wasn’t flustered. He just chuckled and said,

"But everyone else has done it. If you’re the only one who doesn’t, that wouldn’t look very good, would it?"

’He sneered internally.’

’You punk, you dare to fight me? I can make your life difficult with just a flick of my finger!’

’He refused to believe Qin Tuo would dare refuse. Otherwise, how could he ever hope to survive in this office?’

At this, the others chimed in, goading him on.

"Yeah! Everyone else has done it. If you’re the only one who doesn’t, how do you expect to get along here?"

"Heh, this kid’s so cheap. It’s just one meal, not a big deal. Can’t even part with that much, tsk tsk!"

Listening to their taunts, the smile never left Wang Lei’s face as he stared intently into Qin Tuo’s eyes.

Nearby, Liu Ping looked like he wanted to say something but held back. He desperately wanted to convince Qin Tuo to just let it go.

However, Qin Tuo suddenly spoke, his voice cold.

"I didn’t get to eat when you guys paid, so what the hell does it have to do with me!"

With that, he turned and walked away without a second glance.

The entire room was instantly dumbfounded.

His colleagues never imagined Qin Tuo would be so completely disrespectful!

"Hmph. That kid is just plain rude. No wonder he just got out of prison."

Someone couldn’t help but curse.

"Seriously! Does that guy even want to have a future in the sales department?"

"Heh, a future? My ass. A guy like that who can’t get along with anyone will just be isolated wherever he goes."

But Qin Tuo had already walked out without so much as a glance back.

Wang Lei’s face was ashen. He couldn’t believe Qin Tuo had been so disrespectful.

The worst part was that Qin Tuo had undermined his authority in front of all his subordinates.

’Fine, Qin Tuo. You dare disrespect me like that? If I don’t crush you, my name isn’t Wang!’

Wang Lei seethed, grinding his teeth as he secretly made up his mind.

Just then, a salesperson who seemed to have heard some gossip remarked sarcastically,

"Well, well. It’s different when you have connections, isn’t it? Lets you talk so tough!"

As soon as the words were spoken, the other salespeople’s hearts skipped a beat.

’So the kid has connections! No wonder he was so arrogant. He even dared to go up against Manager Wang.’

A wave of regret washed over them.

’Uh oh, were we a little too reckless with our attitude just now...?’

Hearing this, Wang Lei just sneered dismissively.

"Connections? What damn connections? He’s just a clueless hothead who doesn’t know any manners, that’s all!"

Wang Lei had already taken the opportunity to ask Zhang Cheng.

It turned out Zhang Cheng was only keeping Qin Tuo at the company to find an opportunity to humiliate him.

This had completely dispelled Wang Lei’s doubts, which was why he dared to bully Qin Tuo so openly.

Hearing Wang Lei’s explanation, the others’ nervous glances ceased, and they finally relaxed.

"Heh, so that’s how it is. I really thought he had connections. You scared me to death!"

"Hmph. Since he doesn’t have any connections, bullying him from now on will be a piece of cake, won’t it?"

one of the salespeople said smugly, unable to contain himself.
