Chapter 59: Chapter 59: 500,000

Qin Tuo’s family of three walked out of the residential complex, and none of them looked happy.

After all, they had gone with the best of intentions, only to be treated so rudely by that Wu Qingmei. No one could be happy about that.

Seeing the dejected looks on his parents’ faces, Qin Tuo couldn’t bear it and quickly tried to console them.

"Mom, Dad, don’t be sad. Didn’t things work out in the end? Even though Uncle couldn’t get me into his own company, he had his daughter figure something out!"

Hearing this, Qin Hongguo’s expression finally softened a little.

He advised him earnestly:

"Son, you have to work hard and seize this opportunity. Don’t let anyone look down on you."

A pang of sorrow struck Qin Tuo’s heart, and he quickly nodded.

"Okay, Dad. I know. I definitely won’t let you down."

But Luo Xianglan suddenly seemed to remember something, her face filled with worry.

"Oh, no! We forgot about Zilin! What’s she going to do?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Hongguo’s expression also became very awkward.

They had promised just yesterday that they would help Han Zilin find a job too.

But they hadn’t expected things to change. Just securing a job for their son had been full of twists and turns, so how could they possibly help Han Zilin?

Qin Hongguo opened his mouth but was at a loss for what to say.

"Sigh, how are we going to explain this to Sister Han!"

Luo Xianglan shook her head and sighed.

The thought of how much Han Guixiang had always looked out for their family, and now they couldn’t even help her with this small favor, made the old couple extremely uneasy.

Seeing this, Qin Tuo immediately said:

"Mom, Dad, don’t worry. Let me get into the company and check out the situation first. Maybe if I do well, I can find an opportunity to get Zilin in too."

Hearing this, Luo Xianglan nodded repeatedly.

"Okay. Son, you have to do a good job then. Don’t let Zilin down."

His parents felt much more at ease.

The three of them hailed a taxi to go home.

In the car, Qin Tuo thought for a moment, then took out his phone and sent a text message, asking Long Wu to collect money from Zhou Dahai’s company.

"Haihui Real Estate..."

Qin Tuo slowly murmured the company’s name.

He believed that with a figure like Long Wu on the job, collecting a debt would be almost too easy.

The taxi arrived at the entrance of their dilapidated residential complex. Just as they got out, they saw Han Zilin in the distance, standing by the gate and looking around anxiously, as if waiting for someone.

"Huh? Look, it’s Zilin. What is she doing here?"

Luo Xianglan had sharp eyes and spotted Han Zilin immediately.

Han Zilin also saw Qin Tuo’s family return and quickly jogged over.

She was about to say something, but then she remembered Qin Tuo’s parents were there and immediately became too timid to continue.

Qin Tuo could tell at a glance that Han Zilin was in a difficult position. He said to his parents:

"Mom, Dad, you two go on ahead. I’m going to have a good talk with Zilin."

Qin Tuo’s parents actually felt a little guilty, since they hadn’t managed to do what they had so confidently promised yesterday.

"Alright, son. You keep Zilin company."

Luo Xianglan said hastily, and the two of them quickly entered the complex.

Only after his parents had left did Qin Tuo ask:

"Zilin, did something happen? Why do you look so pale?"

Han Zilin said in a panic:

"Brother Tu, the loan sharks just called. They said they’re coming to the complex to cause trouble for me. They might be here any second."

As she spoke, tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.

"Brother Tu, if my mom finds out about this, she’ll be angry enough to kill me! WAHH!"

Qin Tuo quickly patted Han Zilin’s shoulder and comforted her:

"Zilin, don’t be scared. Let me handle this!"

Han Zilin abruptly lifted her head, her face filled with worry.

"Brother Tu, you’re not going to fight them, are you? Please don’t get into a fight! You just got out of prison. What if something happens to you again?"

’Zilin really hasn’t changed at all. Even at a time like this, she’s still worried about me.’

He said with a smile:

"Don’t worry, silly girl. I won’t fight them. At most, I’ll just reason with them."

However, the words had barely left his mouth when a van sped up and stopped right in front of them.

The van stopped, and a few thugs carrying buckets of paint got out, smirking.

It was obvious what the paint buckets were for.

This wasn’t the first time they’d done something like this.

Seeing the villains arrive, Han Zilin’s face turned pale. She quickly pulled on Qin Tuo.

"Brother Tu, run! They’re here!"

But Qin Tuo just gently patted the back of her hand and said reassuringly:

"It’s okay, little one. What’s there to be afraid of when I’m here?"

"But..."

Han Zilin trailed off, hesitating.

For some reason, however, seeing the confident and calm expression on Qin Tuo’s face, she suddenly felt much more at ease.

The leader, a young thug with a scar on his face, saw Han Zilin and strode forward with a vicious grin.

"You damn girl, hurry up and pay us back!"

Han Zilin timidly took two steps back, clutching the hem of her clothes.

"Big brother, I... I really don’t have the money right now. Can you give me a few more days? Just a few days will be enough, okay?"

The thug just shook his head and snorted coldly:

"A few more days? Let me tell you, you can’t even have one more day. If you don’t have the money today, then you’re coming with me. Keep me company for a couple of days, and then I might consider giving you an extension!"

As he spoke, the thug lunged forward to grab Han Zilin.

"You... you pervert!"

Han Zilin’s face flushed red as she boldly cursed at him.

"Haha, a pervert? I *am* a pervert! Whose fault is it that you can’t pay back your debt?"

The thug reached out with his groping hand.

Qin Tuo stepped forward with a blank expression, blocking him from Han Zilin.

SLAP!

He casually reached out and slapped the thug’s filthy hand away.

The thug was instantly enraged!

Qin Tuo said coldly:

"What’s the rush? I’ll pay back the money she borrowed."

The thug narrowed his eyes, sized Qin Tuo up from head to toe, and couldn’t help but sneer.

"Kid, the clothes on your back aren’t even worth as much as the cigarettes I smoke, and you’ve got the nerve to act tough? Do you even know how much this chick owes?"

With his sharp eye, he could tell at a glance that Qin Tuo was just some ordinary guy trying to act tough.

Qin Tuo nodded, his expression flat.

"I know. Two hundred thousand."

Beside him, Han Zilin was so scared her face was pale, and she didn’t dare say a word.

Unexpectedly, however, the thug leader’s face was full of contempt.

"Two hundred thousand? Sorry, that was last week’s price. It’s five hundred thousand now!"
